That was some game last night. Back and forth all night until Panarin and Zibanejad just took over. I really like having them on separate lines. I don't think enough has been said, or can be said, about the impact Panarin has had on this team. He is a threat every time he touches the puck, and I never knew how effective he was in his own end. After 9 games of W, L, W, L, W, L, W, L, W, maybe we can finally get back to back wins on Saturday against a struggling Ducks team?
Plus we seem to have some real potential in Hartford.

Why is the Rangers defense still so bad in their own end? Is it the type of players they? Not enough help from the forwards? Coaching? All of the above?
The Rangers defense seems to be like the Yankees pitching. Guys who are good elsewhere are bad once they get to the Rangers and then good again as soon as they get away from the Rangers. Is that incorrect?
Also what's the opinion on the HC? I never thought the HC of a NHL team was very important but looking at Islanders maybe I'm wrong?
Great stuff, thanks for linking it.
We are lucky to have two very good goaltenders. Plus Shesterkin. Nice problem to have.
Young, fast, exciting, just need to keep the puck out of their net and out of their end.
Fox and DeAngelo are great offensive blue liners and Trouba's been playing well, but they could use a defense man with size at the trade deadline. What Staal was supposed to be, I guess.
Panarin passes to open ice when it looks like no one is there in a Gretzy-esque way.
Man, talk about money well spent...Finally, a true snipper.
Watching more Ranger hockey this year than in ages....
Henrik can be bought out. It would be 1.83 million in both 2020 and 2021.
That would also open up significant cap space.
Putting sentiment aside, buying Henrik out is the right move if he refuses a trade (assuming Gorton could find a trade partner).
Though his early play certainly doesn’t itself make a case for vetoing the idea of a Trouba trade, that’s not at all the inspiration for the premise. Trouba has struggled so far, but the Rangers’ defensive scheme is lacking and being paired with Libor Hajek, who has been arguably the worst defenseman in the NHL this season, is hurting him. It’s a fair bet that Trouba will be just fine if/when the situation around him improves.
Rather, the positive performances by Tony DeAngelo and Adam Fox are what have come into focus.
DeAngelo and Fox are leading the way for the Rangers on defense. Given that this is a rebuilding team looking to contend for a while, one would think that two highly productive and cost-controlled defensemen aged 24 and 21 might be key parts of that long-term goal.
It’s a salary cap league, and eventually DeAngelo and Fox will need salary raises. The Rangers have numerous holes to fill as is. Spending a premium on three similar offensive defensemen is not a smart way to build a winning hockey team.
Here’s why this is something the Rangers must seriously think about right now. On July 1st, 2020, Jacob Trouba’s full No-Trade Clause officially kicks in and remains until 2024, then turns into a partial no-trade clause for the following two seasons. In other words, the Rangers have a little over six months to decide if they want to commit an $8M cap hit to him for at least the next four seasons.
Could, or Should, the Rangers Consider Trading Jacob Trouba? - ( New Window )
Still they are a ton of fun.
We did it!
Thanks. So you're saying the other two were?
I love Henrik. I really do. I appreciate all that he's done for this franchise and for this city. He's a Hall of Famer.
He is not better than Georgiev now and I would fucking hate to lose Georgiev because of him. They need to go forward with an extended Georgiev and Igor.
