it looks like they slapped him with the injury designation so he probably wasn't going to play much the next few games so if there's a $ benefit to cutting now I suppose it makes sense.

Shurmur via #NYG on Jenkins: From ownership to mgmt to football operations, we felt it was in the best interests of the franchise & the player. Obviously, what happened this week, & the refusal to acknowledge the inappropriate & offensive language, was the determining factor.

Why is management and football operations determining what's best for the franchise at this point? Are they stepping down and letting competent people replace them?
There must be something else to this because I don't know how we handle his dead cap number by cutting him this year ($2mm signing + $1.5mm restructuring bonus due 2020).
Curious if they are trying to void the contract for conduct detrimental to the team or something along those lines.
That team/roster is a total mess and not sure they have hit rock bottom yet. Still have a lot more bad money/cap hits to clear out of there. Link - ( New Window )
Hes a solid cover guy but hes a liability in run support. Not great when you look around the league and see all of the dominant run teams who will be in the playoffs.
Best fit would probably be SF with Sherman being banged up.
Silly, funny, stupid, dumb, etc... as "retarded" or "retard". Best CB we've had since...........? This is an embarrassment. Talk about DG should have traded Engram? This release is a disaster.
DRC, Apple, Collins all found their way out of here shortly thereafter. Because of salary and the depth chart, Jenkins became more of necessity than those other guys but he was a shit stirrer and his play the last few years never matched what he did in 2016.
When I listened to the cut-ups of his explanation/apology yesterday after what he said, I had a moment where I actually thought to myself "what the hell is this guy still doing on this team?" and here we are.
nothing in return for him. Nothing. not even a fucking bag of balls
And/or he did not apologize? If that's the primary reason, this team is more than a joke
I have the same reaction as you.
My assumption is that the team was getting heat. Radio shows were talking about it. They work with the special olympics who knows what they were saying behind scenes. They told him to apologize and he didnt. I dont think it warranted a release but we have lost 9 in a row this team doesnt need any more negative press on them
Where have you been all week?

No.
Dude might be more of a problem than Shurmur and Shurmur is atrocious. So what does that make DG?
Engram.

Dr. Zaius: Don't look for it, Taylor. You may not like what you'll find.
