If the Giants were a playoff team Jackrabbit wouldn't even miss the first quarter on Sunday. THe fact is that they are looking for a "cultural scapegoat".
Unfortunately the Giants created this culture after ridding the team of the "cultural toxicities" from the Jerry Reese era (Collins, Snacks, Apple, Odell, etc.). Turns out DG and ownership created this culture on their own.
Fact is that this is a bigger indictment on the org than it is on jackrabbit. No doubt that jackrabbit is immature and maybe a bit of an idiot for engaging a fan like that on social media; but it is embarrassing that the Giants org is trying to make a statement here to deflect accountability from this dumpster fire of a team.
For me personally, its not so much that he said it - its that he didn't even care and used "his culture" as an excuse.
If you're one of these people nowadays who's clamoring for equality and complaining about privilege, and/or you're a woman or some kind of minority - and you're making excuses for Jenkins...that makes you a full blown hypocrite.
These people with special needs deserve as much respect as anyone else. This is no different than if he had slut-shamed a woman on twitter or used the "n" word and wasn't sorry about it.
Exactly

There are some really disgusting comments on this thread.

In the off-season. There’s a reason why DG brought in a million corners over the last two years. The recent incident just expedited the process.
It’s the right move. He’s overpaid, on the wrong side of 30, and makes way too many business decisions when he has to make a tackle. This is the same guy who quit in 17 when things went south. One of the last remnants of Reese’s loser spending spree in 16.
I do agree he should’ve been moved before the trade deadline, but who knows if there was even a market for him.
Give me a break. Would you like a tissue? What a joke this team is.
Yes it's the right move, and it has nothing to do with being PC.
I like Jenkins as a player *most* of the time. However, it was clear he gave up on several plays this year. Those are not the type of vets we want on this team.
He'll definitely help another team in the playoffs this year, but i think its a goood for us to move on from him and focus on developing our younger guys. Maybe next year we can bring in a Sam Madison type player to lead our CBs.
RE: RE: RE: RE: I actually respect Jenkins' balls Â
Then I grew up. I’d suggest Janoris do the same. It’s not that hard. Next time call the guy a dumb ass.
ahhh, i just posted about calling someone dumb. that's offensive too bro. but society hasn't made a big fuss about it yet.
Dumb is a disability as well (not being able to speak). So its ok to offend someone who can't speak, but not ok to offend someone with mental retardation.
you're not as grown up as you think buddy
Okay, dude.
RE: RE: RE: It wasn't the smarted thing for Jenkins to tweet... Â
He apologized twice. First on Twitter and then again yesterday. It just didn't suffice with today's blood-letting PC crowd.
No apology in 2019 is ever good enough, which is exactly why he refused to repeat himself 300 times. It never would have mattered.
was it the "pc blood letting crowd" or what it giants' ownership and management? they moved quite fast for the "pc blood letting crowd" to do any actual blood letting.
it's unadulterated, inexcusable BS. Noone should ever lose their job over what comes out of their mouth outside of the workplace. And most of the time, barring insubordination, even in the workplace.
He apologized twice. First on Twitter and then again yesterday. It just didn't suffice with today's blood-letting PC crowd.

Did you miss the wave of 75 articles yesterday demanding Jenkins be released for being so "wildly offensive?"
Are we sure we could have gotten anything for him?
Do we know of any teams inquiring before the deadline?
He may get picked up now but was any already in the playoff team going to give up a draft choice for a guy who quits on plays and was easy to pick on this year when a decent Qb decided to do so?
Im not sure he would have gotten even a 6th slot. Any team knew he was a goner at the end of the year and any team lookin for an edge in the playoffs would not consider this years play as an edge they wanted to pay draft slots for.
imo
Bill you know what is better than having one cover corner? Two. It enables you to do so much defensively its like a whole new game. Guys that can cover like JJ can are valuable, even if it would only would have netted a 5th 6th round pick.
NYG players are going to think before sending a tweet now LOL... Â
and a minor statement by mgt. I don’t care what Shurmur said, he publicly called out his DC. He is obviously frustrated and sick of being on this team. I doubt he’s been a perfect gentleman behind the scenes.
The Jints Central crowd see he’s injured, and his comments and calling out the DC and whatever else is going on, and it’s a message to the public and to current roster that the wheels are off the season, but they’re not going to let this turn into a free for all. If they wanted to keep him they easily could have lined up behind him and released a statement that his explanation showed he understood it was inappropriate but he wasn’t trying to offend, yadda yadda yadda.
I also suspect that Jenkins was not afraid (maybe even wanted) to get out of here. So he’s not going to say sorry, and if the team asked him too I’m sure he was happy to tell them to stick it.
Pretty soon the entire English language will be offensive. The word FUCK is used quite often on this fan site. Nobody seems to be offended. If Jenkins didn't fit in to the 2020 plan, they should have traded him for whatever they could get for him some time ago. Cutting him now makes no sense. Also, saying the word "retard" shouldn't offend anyone. This liberal pussy shit is totally out of control.
special needs child, I have issues with what he said.
it is an insensitive thing to say. without a doubt. but people say insensitive shit all the time. this is a business and the objective is win. there are other ways to address conduct an organization does not want besides firing people. even if that is their right.

Why would anyone be offended by fuck, you fucking fuck?
recently passed away after 65 years. I never once found the R word offensive when I heard it and I never thought it applied to my Aunt when I did. That's just me tho..
special needs child, I have issues with what he said.
I think that you can have issues or even be mortally offended about a single word without demanding capital punishment.
What is missing so much in this times is a sense of proportion that even approaches reasonableness.
I agree with this. Every situation is different. And every situation should be evaluated. I mean, even murder has different different degrees.
If Jenkins apologized, I think he should have stayed. But what we don't know is what happened in those conversations with management (I haven't read all the details - perhaps we do).
But is there a chance Jenkins had a FU attitude with the Giants, maybe they said enough of this and you're gone..............someone did say something about him calling out the DC.
Once Beal finally got on the field. Jenkins was a liability. So they move him to slot corner, his first game there he gets hurt. Then on top of that he tweets an insult during practice. On top of that, he uses the r word. The Jenkins at slot corner for 2020 project failed miserably after only 4 quarters.
shows the number of people who really don't care about offending people with disabilities along with their friends and families.
Honest question, do YOU have a friend or family member with Down Syndrome or similar mental retardation?
Because I do. And you don't speak for me. This is not offensive to me, and the family member I have who has Down's is cherished by our family.
Maybe he doesn't, but I do. And what I find most offensive is Jenkins lack of remorse. I hear people say that word all the time. It bothers me but I also understand most people say it without malicious intent or are just ignorant about how offensive it can be. So I usually ignore it. But when someone points out to you why its wrong and your response is essentially, "its just part of my culture" and "if you're offended by it thats your problem" - I take issue with that.
and score some brownie points. He was getting released regardless, but honestly it shows just how lost this franchise is. Newsflash, 98 percent of people could give a shit, we care that they are 2 and fucking 11 in a division that is going to have a 8 game winner.
Except the head coach just said it was the reason. So there's that.
I really don't take much stock in what comes out of Shurmur's mouth anymore...
on what basis? you may not think he's good coach but now he's a full throated liar too? the timelines seems overwhelmingly against your point.
Full throated liar? No, that's a conclusion you jumped to.
Why don't I take much stock in what comes out of his mouth? 90% of the time I hear the guy talk all I hear is excuses, he doesn't own up to poor decisions during the games and tends to fill his interviews with a lot of lip service. In other words I feel like he says what he needs to in order to get his interviews over with as fast and easy as possible.

Baker and Beal will probably start so no more platooning
2) The fact he tweeted during practice.
If he was going to be cut after the season, then whatever. Might as well do it now and not risk him helping us win another game.
The question is - who is the one that made the decision?
You can still get on Gettleman for not trading him before the deadline, but that is independent of the ignorant punk Jenkins is.
