On here but never thought he'd be released. Listening to Shurmur and especially Betcher everything was rosey. Disapointed they couldn't get a pick fo him.
trade him at the deadline? What the hell is this guy doing?
Because at the time he hadn't done anything this offensive. The backlash Mara is facing between a shitty team and not firing him, plus this whole twitterific disaster why would Mara and the Giants hold onto a player especially when he shows no remorse for such offense...
trade him at the deadline? What the hell is this guy doing?
More like why didn't the GM cut him after he had a worse season than BW Webb last year? Why didn't the GM cut him during his great crusade to clean up the culture of the team? Why did the GM declare Jenkins some kind of leader for the draft class?
You know why the Giants are the worst, these are the two clairvoyant sages running the shop.
Quote:
“Janoris has a bunch of puppies he’s got to train,” Gettleman said, adding that there’s no doubt Jenkins remains on the 53-man roster.
“He’ll become a good teacher. I admire Janoris. He’s tough. He’s competitive,” Shurmur added. “He always answers the bell, and I’ve gained a huge appreciation for him coaching him over the last year or so, and so just keep — put all these young guys in a room with him, and I think Janoris will be Janoris, and if these young guys are smart enough to listen, then they’re going to learn a lot of really good stuff.”
RE: RE: Oh wait he needs to pass waivers now right? Â
I just scanned through the thread and no one corrected you. He is waived with in injury designation. All players whether they are a vested veteran or not when waived after the trade deadline are subject to waivers. If no one claims his contract, he reverts to our IR. At which time, we have 5 days to come to injury settlement. Once a settlement is reached, then he becomes a free agent. If no settlement is reached, then he remains on IR and must pass a physical to be released from IR.
Jenkins’ use of that insulting word and not being sorry is one thing. He’s ignorant and happy that way. But I really don’t see the Giants releasing him if they were in the midst of a championship hunt. If this happened during SB week, Jenkins plays the game. What a skin-crawling season.
I guess Beal looked so good that Jenkins became expendable Â
If you work at McDonald's and get mad at a customer and call them that you're getting fired.
If you're a cashier or stock person at Target, getting fired.
If you're at a call center and are talking to a customer on the phone and do that you're getting fired.
If you're a teacher and you call somebody that you're getting fired.
If you're at any office USA and call a customer that, you're getting fired.
You just can't do that. It's never been acceptable in the workplace.
Pretty accurate.
If you work at McDonalds, and you call someone retarded on your personal twitter account, and the manager happens to find out, you probably won't get fired
No but if you call one of the customers in line a retard you would be fire
in the room(chat). Should have suspended him then tried to move him before draft. The guy should be disciplined but actually is rewarded a possible shot at a Super Bowl run down the road. Really should have moved him at deadline like majority of opinions here.Must have really blown up the bridge in recent weeks. Not a good sign going forward. Illogical knee jerk thinking on managements part. Cut off your nose to spite his face.

You are correct. But teams don't normally claim waived/injured players. Unless something bizarre happens, he will be free to sign with any team.
You're a pro football player, you were on your phone AT PRACTICE, and you insulted a fan for the entire world to see.
You represent the company, when you make thenm look bad you get the boot. Recognize that you're too high-profile to act this unprofessional in the public eye.
special needs child, I have issues with what he said.
I worked with mentally disabled adults for a decade. It is reasonable for you have issues with the slur. But to deprive a man of his livelihood for being thoughtless and stupid on one occasion seems to be an over reaction. Talk to him. Send him to a class. But to fire him after he apologized makes it seem like there was more at play.
How is cutting him depriving him of a livelihood? He will sign with another team so how does this deprive him?
RE: I don't buy that he was released for the tweet Â
If the Giants were a playoff team Jackrabbit wouldn't even miss the first quarter on Sunday. THe fact is that they are looking for a "cultural scapegoat".
Unfortunately the Giants created this culture after ridding the team of the "cultural toxicities" from the Jerry Reese era (Collins, Snacks, Apple, Odell, etc.). Turns out DG and ownership created this culture on their own.
Fact is that this is a bigger indictment on the org than it is on jackrabbit. No doubt that jackrabbit is immature and maybe a bit of an idiot for engaging a fan like that on social media; but it is embarrassing that the Giants org is trying to make a statement here to deflect accountability from this dumpster fire of a team.
And if Saquon or Danny Jones did this, does anyone think they would have been released?
Thank you for the sane comment. I think we here on BBI tend to overestimate what other teams would pay for our junk. This man should have been cut last year when he openly quit on plays. I agree that is is unlikely that anyone was offering to pony up for him.
Are we sure we could have gotten anything for him?
Do we know of any teams inquiring before the deadline?
He may get picked up now but was any already in the playoff team going to give up a draft choice for a guy who quits on plays and was easy to pick on this year when a decent Qb decided to do so?
Im not sure he would have gotten even a 6th slot. Any team knew he was a goner at the end of the year and any team lookin for an edge in the playoffs would not consider this years play as an edge they wanted to pay draft slots for.
It's the Giants, so I believe it. But it's laughable a team paid Jenkins ~12M dollars for 13 games, in a 2-11 season. To then cut him because he said a bad word on Twitter.
Jenkins' whole jam has been being a moron on. Twitter. This is a guy who didn't come back to work after the bye week one year because the team sucked.
Either trade him at the deadline, trade him in the offseason, or let him play out 2020 and get a comp pick. Now its dead money, and another position to fill in for 2020.
From Shurmur's statement, it sounds like the Maras forced this.
I guess the only bright side of this, is that we got 1 step closer to Trevor Lawrence.
Could have traded him and got something for him, but nah, we're going to for a completely unrealistic playoff push instead.
At least we can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing the franchise has adults in charge. Hey there "hog mollie" there's an adult in the room now.
You do understand this had nothing to do with football right? No? Well bless your little heart.
Yeah because I totally said he was cut today because of football reasons. You stay strong with that strawman of yours big boy. It's doing wonders for you so far.
The rest of these malcontent fucks should all go. As should the idiot GM who brought them in blowing himself at the press conferences on how he's reshaped the roster with adults and high character guys. Yeah, that's gone well.
That he went to a talk about Jews for Christ and when he looked around the room, he could tell the Jews there were scared because they realized Jesus was the messiah . In other words, he implied that the Jews in the room were scared because they realized they were going to hell.
Isn’t that way worse than what Jenkins did on the PC Richter scale? Yet Mara had no problem with hiring DG
And I discovered this article by doing a simple google search on DG when Giants were considering hiring him. Iirc it was in a local Virginia paper.
The only thing worse than the joke this franchise has become Â

behind the scenes. I suspect they didn’t think he was a good role model for all the young DBs...the twitter business gave them cover to make the move early

He'll be free to sign with any team after an injury settlement is reached or until he passes a physical from IR. The Giants can absolutely squat on his rights if they so choose to do so. I suspect they want to rid themselves of him either by being claimed or paying the injury settlement.
The comment was not litterally meant in those terms. Where is the rational common sense people!!!??? We release reformed criminals back into society everyday who have committed some horrific crimes yet we are going to villanize people and fire them for comments they have made in the heat of the conversation?!? I get the whole they should know better and you have to hold yourself to higher standards etc. but we are human beings! might as well let robots run the world! this is becoming ridiculous.
And let him rot on the sidelines for the remainder of the year.
Instead he gets to go play for a contender.
This franchise is a horrific joke. Pretty much at my wits end with them.
Conduct Detrimental would almost certainly entail a grievance filed the Player's Union. Then they would go to arbitration to argument whether "free speech" on a private platform is reason for cause. The Giants likely just want to cut ties and rid him of the franchise. With him being injured, he has to have the injury designation on waivers. As I outlined above, there is a process that is outlined in the CBA. The team just can't "fire" him for ignorant comments on Twitter.
...it's ridiculous.
Only idiot organizations like the Giants would make that move.
Dude was going to be cut in the off-season.

Don't talk, post or communicate in anyway and one may be ok.
This speaks volumes to the mindset and culture inside the locker room/behind the scenes - which really just backs up everyone's assumptions.
This team is in absolute shambles.
Not to mention there is going to be zero veteran leadership on this team next season. (Not that these are the guys you want, necessarily, but...)
GM and HC need to be shown the door at end of season
Mara's need to get out of day to day operations of this team
this franchise is a complete mess
