very solid and underrated CB in my opinion.
Will be a UFA and should be a target with Jenkins being released. Gettleman drafted him in the 2nd round in 2016.
If Gettleman is retained as GM..I would expect him to be one of the 1st signings in the off season.
Have't seen him play this year....has anyone?
The last 3 years prior to this year, I've seen him....really good all around player.
Thoughts?
Besides, someone else will be signing the FAs and drafting.

with Jenkins being released....we need a proven veteran CB.
And we have the $$.

If Gettleman is fired the new GM is definitely gonna want new corners, these guys havnt shown much at all.
Dave should want at least 1 new boundary corner and a slot corner as well. My top target (overall) in FA would be Byron Jones.
The only high resource that was spent at CB was Baker. Beal was a 3rd round pick, Ballentine was what? A 6th? You think that's all you should have to spend to set your group of corners? Lol maybe if you got extremely lucky, we on the other hand have gotten zero luck out of it.
Ballentine is a backup, end of story. Love will be a safety going forward. Beal and Baker can find over the remaining boundary spot after you sign another outside corner and a slot.
This secondary has been good enough to be the worst in the league and it just lost it's best player lmao
Revamping this awful secondary is one of the very highest priorities this offseason.
And if we invest in another DB we need a Safety. Justin Simmons is a guy I would target. Love can play Slot as well as safety. Peppers will be back.
Beal, Baker and Ballentine and Haley are all young but will have to be relied on to play.

I'd be happy with adding Simmons and moving Love to the slot, I have a hard time realistically seeing Simmons hit the market though.
Haley needs to be cut, hes not good enough to be a backup's backup. Relying on Baker and Beal both starting will probably lead to big big trouble. Ballentine has shown enough that you can probably count on him to be an ok backup.
Just because they're young doesnt inherently mean they will be good or even get better lol
What makes you so sure? Baker has been the worst corner in the league this year. Ballentine is a 6th(?) round pick. Beal is essentially a 3rd who has played in like 3 games over the course of 2 seasons (and I actually like his potential the most).
It's quite conceivable that NONE of these guys will become good corners. At this point just one of them becoming a good one would be a win, and I can almost guaruntee none will be a lockdown #1. We need that badly.
And this year may be a RARE instance where one hits the market, you dont pass up on that opportunity. CERTAINLY not for these guys, if Byron Jones hits the market you offer him a whopper.

Will be more than fine. Get a slot corner in the 3rd or 4th round, two new LBs, and a competent coach and we will be good.

Right now our CB play isn't good. There are two explanations:
1) The Triple-B cornerbacks are good, but the coaching has failed to make them play to their potential.
2) The Triple-B cornerbacks suck forever.
Personally I prefer explanation 1. That's the optimist in me. Hire a new coach, and maybe they improve?
If you believe explanation 2, how do you begin to address the idea that our top-3 remaining cornerbacks are all busts?
Besides, someone else will be signing the FAs and drafting.
So we should rely on a guy like Ballantine? Veteran corner is as big of a need as any on this team. We cant go into next year with Beal and Baker as the unquestioned starters on the outside.

It's not an all or nothing outcome. As I said, I would either..
A. Sign a boundary corner and a slot corner, Ballentine as a backup, Baker and Beal fight for the other boundary spot and who ever loses is a backup.
B. The same thing, except instead of signing a slot corner sign a FS and move Julian Love to the slot.
If they each hit the market I would go hard after BOTH Justin Simmons and Byron Jones. Suddenly we could have a top tier secondary. We have the money to hand out quite a few big contracts this offseason. Hopefully the talent is out there.
