Janoris Jenkins appreciation thread

WideRight : 12/13/2019 1:16 pm
Put aside recent events, and appreciate what he did for us. Upon arrival, he performed at an extremely high level, and along with Landon Collins, gave us a couple years where the secondary was a unit of strength that helped propel the Giants to their only recent playoff appearance.

I hope I'm not alone when I say I really enjoyed seeing him play at lockdown level. As years have gone by, it is what it is, but his early and overall contributions deserve our appreciation.
Never came across as a team player

Coolest nickname on the team.
LawrenceTaylor56 : 12/13/2019 1:22 pm : link
I don't understand the outrage of the R-word, though. Washington would have changed their team name by now if it was that offensive.
really? you have to be that guy
Burtman : 12/13/2019 1:23 pm : link
the very first post is a negative post about a guy that's been a Giant player. Delete this thread and start over and maybe the jerk parade can take a break a bit.

on the 1 good team the giants have had since 2011.
yes 2016 happened
He was a good

player on a lot of teams that had very few good players. Great coverage skills, a top corner when he wanted to be. Thanks Jackrabbit.

Hopefully they stay at the Jerk Store where they belong!!
thank you for that total shutdown against DEZ
Paulie Walnuts : 12/13/2019 1:25 pm : link
that was amazing
He clearly didnt want to be here
cjac : 12/13/2019 1:26 pm : link
he had a really nice 2016, i appreciate that. it ends there
I don't get the "Trade Engram" crowd
Sonic Youth : 12/13/2019 1:28 pm : link
He's young, he's talented, and there's no reason to trade him for pennies on the dollar.

He's worth way more than whatever they'd get back for him, and it's not like he's old/dead weight/bad culture fit that they need to get rid of in the same vein as Jenkins
Yeah, no to this thread
Thankyoueli : 12/13/2019 1:31 pm : link
And I couldnt care less about him saying the dreaded "R WORD".

Got paid a huge amount of money for 1 great season, and was a shitty team mate who quit on the team on multiple occasions. Appreciation threads should be for players worth remembering. I dont hate him, but he ain't it.
Was always a mistake to sign
ny2plano : 12/13/2019 1:33 pm : link
- Was overpaid at initial signing
- Had 1 good year, and 1 OK year.
- Should has been released prior to 2018 season and eaten the cap hit
- Ditto for 2019.
- Terrible influence on the new DB's

- GOOD BYE!

Good point.

I think the Giants are perhaps being more Machiavellian than PC. This way they have an excuse to release a guy who was obviously going to be a cap casualty anyway.

Now they don't have to pay his salary for three weeks in a lost season.
Thanks for 2016

Adios.
Jenkins
GiantGiantsFan : 12/13/2019 1:40 pm : link
just said being released from the Giants was the "best news ever", and you're making a tribute thread?

This is worse than being a 2018er (which I am)! :)

When he played hard, he was as good as any CB
Section331 : 12/13/2019 1:42 pm : link
in the league. He was also capable of some of the worst games I have seen a professional play (@SF 2017). I don't wish him any ill will, but good riddance.

Sorry Burtman.

Is there ANY player on the team who you like? Anyone?
Why?
section125 : 12/13/2019 1:51 pm : link
He played occasional very good football as he should have with his special talent. He made several "business" decisions on the field. Disappeared on occasion.
I did not dislike him, but I certainly don't see where he gets an "appreciation" thread.
He is a very good player and we are idiots for throwing him away ....
since1925 : 12/13/2019 1:56 pm : link
and getting ZERO in return.

Releasing him was a stupid and meaningless gesture. He had a lot of value for many teams and failing to capitalize on that value was dumb, dumb, dumb.
He's a loser
DavidinBMNY : 12/13/2019 1:59 pm : link
He has never really won in the NFL. He's a talented player, who has been making stupid plays either intentionally or just for lack of care for some time.

Hopefully he'll let a bunch of other information fly between now and when he joins the chiefs.

Not really sure what the point is of "rooting" for a team
Mad Mike : 12/13/2019 2:08 pm : link
when you're only joy is heaping scorn and derision on everyone.

At any rate, Jenkins certainly had some good moments here, but his overall results were mixed, to say the least. With a better team and more motivating coaching staff, he might have been a pretty valuable piece, but in difficult circumstances he certainly didn't make the most of a bad situation.

Why don't you cool off and take a ride on your Peloton... wait, is that too insensitive? BBI had really turned into a microcosm of what society is today.

The Giants won nothing with him here and in the end he turned into a malcontent. You want to give him appreciation, have at it.
I hope he signs with a playoff team
larryflower37 : 12/13/2019 2:11 pm : link
He has spent his entire career on losing teams.
he came to NY to win and obviously money.
best of luck Jackrabbit.

don't be stupid and use the R word in any context again.

Dumb move by the Giants
upnyg : 12/13/2019 2:28 pm : link
Like him or not, he has value. We've kept guys around for doing worse. Should have traded him in October, at this point...bench him the rest of the year and trade him in April.

Giants just wanted to keep the bad coaching and losing off the front page for a week.

Congrats!

Too few good games / moments and way too many poor / mediocre performances. I really hated his "business decision" lack of effort plays and games. I also agree he wasn't the type of player I'd choose to mentor the young CBs; too many bad habits. Last of the Reese "bad apples".
He wound up being the best

Don't appreciate his conduct
Got to be more to the story than we know. He texted during practice?

Didn't want to apologize? Discussion about it got heated? Asked to be released from this BS team? Who knows but there's more to this than we know.
Good luck.

He was an all pro on an 11-5 giants team
That year happened. The giants were relevant- the defense was tenacious.

what a dumb post. Do some of you have some sort of inside information the rest of us don't? Were there any suitors for Jackrabbit? What was the compensation offered?

Also, the fact you think releasing him was stupid and meaningless after using a derogatory term and being so unapologetic about it says a lot about your character. Your parents must be very proud.

Scuzzlebutt : 12/13/2019 4:16 pm : link
Of the 2017 season. Never seen a player just taking up space on a football field like that. He flat out quit on his team and refused to tackle anyone. He literally allowed 3 TDs just by refusing to tackle anyone.

That is what I will always remember about Jenkins.
To Janoris Jenkins...
M.S. : 12/13/2019 4:18 pm : link

Here's to your going to a real football team / organization that knows what it is doing!

What if a reporter asks him how a receiver got open deep, and Janoris says, "I was retarded by the muddy conditions on the field."
Clown ass loser.

And completely insensitive thread. He just insulted millions of people and was thrown off the team when he would not admit he was wrong. Then another insensitive ignorant poster starts an appreciation thread and he and other fools tell us not to say anything insensitive toward this low life of a human being, basically telling this fool that BBI is behind, go get a great job and go get your glory. No way there be an appreciation thread, it is an act just as insensitive as the remarks that he made. This needs to be deleted, and an apology is owed. I hoped this would have happened by now. This is a disgrace, and embaressment to us all.
