Head Coach Pat Shurmur -- December 20, 2019

Opening Statement: It looks like Rhett Ellison won’t be able to make it. Daniel Jones was full. Barring anything crazy, he’ll start and Eli (Manning) will back him up. Aside from that, everybody else practiced. A couple of guys that missed were back out here today, the personal reason guys. Ready to go. Good day of work. I’ll take your questions.

Q: How much progress do you think (DeAndre) Baker has made from Week 1 to where we stand today?
A: I think he’s made a great amount of progress. He certainly needs to get better in a lot of areas still. But he’s had more of an impact on the game. I would say it’s fair to say he’s had more good plays and less bad plays in each game that he’s played. That speaks to some of the improvement. He has a long way to go, but I think he’s made good improvement.

Q: Is it rare for a young rookie cornerback to come into the league and have an immediate impact? Are these the kinds of things you almost have to expect, some of the struggles early?
A: Yeah, I mean you don’t expect anybody that’s out there starting to not play at a high level. But I think it’s safe to say if you believe that experience matters, the more experience he gets, the better he’ll perform.

Q: How did Daniel look this week to you?
A: Good. I just said he’s starting. He looked fine. He looked good. He’s prepared and ready to go.

Q: How would you assess Leonard’s (Williams) impact since he’s gotten here and what you’ve gotten out of him?
A: It’s been positive. It’s been very positive. I see that the way he approaches his day, the way he trains, he practices very hard. I feel like he’s had an impact in the run game and the pass game. Sometimes for an interior defensive player, it doesn’t come always with sack totals. But I’m pleased with what he’s done to this point, and I do feel like in that young group of defensive linemen, he’s had an impact.

Q: I know you guys liked his versatility. Is there a spot you think he’s best at?
A: I don’t know. He plays all of the inside spots, and then we have some big nickel stuff where he plays outside. I think the versatility is good because that allows us to get other guys in the rotation as well.
Is there anything to read into a 5 question session?

Just that time of year? Overall record? Dead man walking? All of the above?
He sucks at everything and that

includes these pointless Q & A's. I know a lot of it is because I am tired of him as the coach but man, his answers just sound shitty. Like a weird arrogance for a guy with a massively sub .500 winning %.
