Marvin Lewis, who was defensive coordinator and assistant head coach in Washington in 2002, is a serious candidate to become the next head coach there
-----------------------------------
It's also getting reported by a bunch of reputable sources all over. Great news for Giants, Cowboys, and Eagles fans if Lewis gets the Redskins job.

Dan Snyder is insane
And worse yet, he may want to keep the hugely incompetent Bruce Young.
And worse yet, he may want to keep the hugely incompetent Bruce Young.
Do you mean Bruce Allen?
What did he win exactly?
He lasted so long for many reasons.
One, doing what he did in Cincinnati would not have occurred by most coaches.
Two, Takeo Spikes said it best, "Name one big time FA that went to Cincinnati."
Three, the owner is notoriously cheap and it goes beyond just signing FAs.
Four, they had the smallest scouting department in all of football yet they had a stretch where they were drafting very well.
Five, and most important, the Bengals owner is a douche and doesn't get along with people but he had a great relationship with Lewis.
Now, this doesn't mean Lewis is a great HC because he never won a playoff game in his entire tenure there but you have to be fair to him as well with all the obstacles he had to ok overcome.
The main problem with Lewis is the culture he promoted in Cincinnati, which wouldn’t be accepted by most NFL owners.
Tell you what - I am willing to bet $100 that he can coach the pants off of Pay Shurmur.
I reiterate I never understood how he lasted that long in Cinci.
And I might be low with that %
It's not rocket science.
I reiterate I never understood how he lasted that long in Cinci.
Excuses, facts, whatever. I stand by what I said if you read the whole thing.
C'mon Giants fans. Use your noggin.
This is just following the Rooney rule.
Besides, we already had Lewis here.
From my sources it's 2 guys that are targets.
Urban Meyer & mystery name.
Some believe that Mystery name is Lovie Smith.
There have also been reports that Dungy is the mystery name.
It won't be Marvin Lewis.
Hue Jackson, Adam Gase, etc.
Listen, we all know Snyder.
He's gonna want a big name.
You have to account for the shock factor.
Dungy, Meyer, Gibbs 3.0.
Even Lovie Smith would be a surprise.
Marvin Lewis? Not so much.
Redskins drank from that same well when they hired Jay Gruden. Marvin Lewis Off coordinator.
Nope, it will be a big name.
Whether it works out or not, who the hell knows.
But you don't put fans in the seats, by hiring a guy who can't win a Playoff game.
You need a wow factor.
And I might be low with that %
No ralph, i think the % may be higher than that!

Pay the man?
Not related to Pat Shurmur are you? Not that I am against some other team paying him....
It's also worth noting that among BBI regulars there are 2 classes of coach, you are either BB or you suck.

I’ve always been a lewis defender. Not saying I absolutely love the guy but he’s clearly adept at being a HC in the nfl and as you said the bengals are much worse since he was let go.
Five straight playoff appearances is very very hard to do. It’s not like the bengals were loaded with star power either but lewis had that franchise running smoothly for longer than that owner out there probably deserves.
For perspective, we’ve never seen the giants make it to five straight playoffs. Maybe bb56 did... by the way where the hell is fiddy? Hope he’s well.

Yeah, if the Skins do indeed hire Lewis, I think I'll just wait until we hire a coach with a comparable record before I laugh at them.
