NGT- Josh McDaniels to interview with Cleveland

jvm52106 : 1/10/2020 11:20 am
and he brought his wife along too. Could be finalizing a deal to take over the Browns.
Browns and McDaniels - ( New Window )
Will he quit 2 days later
GiantsRage2007 : 1/10/2020 11:25 am : link
Like in Indy?

It's pretty amazing this guy got any interview requests
He'll be a two time failed head coach
Bold Ruler : Mod : 1/10/2020 11:27 am : link
Why he would even consider the dumpster that is the Browns is beyond me.
I can't see
Biteymax22 : 1/10/2020 11:27 am : link
Why you would back out on a Colts team that had Andrew Luck but then jump into the mess Cleveland is. Giving him control or not, their owners are known to meddle and that isn't going to change.
Haslam, McDaniels and Mayfield as the front men of that franchise.

Getcha popcorn ready.
It’s interesting ....
ryanmkeane : 1/10/2020 11:30 am : link
reports were that his wife was huge on the decision not to go to Indy.

$$$$
Power
Hometown (area)
Chance to win where BB didn't
We don't want him to get the job
UberAlias : 1/10/2020 11:35 am : link
Prefer not to be competing with McDaniels for NE staff
Wasn't there a report yesterday
figgy2989 : 1/10/2020 11:37 am : link
That he only wanted to go to a team where he was their only candidate?

What changed?
McDaniels going to Cleveland is just throwing gasoline on a fire

I get the feeling Judge is not going to limit himself to the NE staff.

$$$$ and control perhaps.
He'd probably be bringing that new England
jlukes : 1/10/2020 11:40 am : link
Personnel guy with him

If you’re Caseiro, why would you got to Cleveland. In addition to head coaches, GM’s are tossed like every two years. Additionally, betting on a weasel like McDaniels to be the exception, good luck.

That’s what they all say when they back out of an offer. It’s the chicken shit way of saying I’m not taking the job.
I guess there is only one way to go for him
Rudy5757 : 1/10/2020 11:47 am : link
there is talent on the roster and all signs point to him having total control. If he wins he'll be a god in cleveland. if he loses he will be another in a long line of losers
Get ready Josh

New England
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 1/10/2020 11:52 am : link
losing a lot of coaching/admin talent over the last 2-3 years. Maybe the QB. Wonder if that means anything more than that guys are getting opportunities.
Something to consider
jvm52106 : 1/10/2020 11:54 am : link
maybe he doesn't want to stay in NE as the empire crumbles. Brady is old, lots of pieces need to be replaced and BB appears to not be going anywhere. I suspect McDaniels looks at this as a chance to have full control, have a QB in place, RB's in place, WR's in place, a TE with skills in place...

The Browns could be a very quick turn around with the right scheme and system.

They kept that band together for an unprecedented amount of time. It was ending sooner or later and there's only so many promotions you can give people.

BB isn't leaving which means the next Patriots HC will have to wait a while. It makes sense why everyone is jumping ship - they all had great success and its time for bigger things. May not be greener, but the pay will be.

I think they have a solid roster with a lot of talent. A good coach can make the playoffs with that roster IMO.
McDaniels and Mayfield
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 1/10/2020 12:00 pm : link
Easy to see that being a complex relationship...
McDaniels handled Brady just fine
ZogZerg : 1/10/2020 12:02 pm : link
I think he'll be fine with Mayfield.

Cleveland certainly won't do any worse than they did with Kitchens. That was some bad football.

Banks : 1/10/2020 12:03 pm : link
I can't think of a better fit. Clown team being led by a clown coach. There is a lot of talent in Cleveland so it wouldn't surprise me if they turn it around, but I don't see it lasting if they do
When the Giants announced Judge
NoPeanutz : 1/10/2020 12:35 pm : link
every talking head in the universe laid NEs disappointing offense at his feet, "the WRs coach." We'll see if they do the same when McDaniels gets hired, or if they'll just continue to kiss his ass.
If he leaves, Patriots lose two potential heirs to BB in 1 offseason
moespree : 1/10/2020 12:58 pm : link
I can't imagine Kraft is really going to be okay with BB making his son his replacement but it seems it could be setting up that way. Patriots really do seem like they are running out of gas.

Bardy & Mayfield seems pretty night & day.
What exactly were the Brady traits or behaviors that required handling?
Just heard that
BigBlueDownTheShore : 1/10/2020 2:09 pm : link
The Browns are McDaniels home town team and that it’s his dream job since he grew up close to there.

Makes more sense now.

Dream job, lmfao?
if you want to live near aging parents
japanhead : 1/10/2020 2:36 pm : link
near where you grew up, still have family and friends in the area, and grew up rooting for the team, it would be his dream job yes.
I think the possibility
jvm52106 : 1/10/2020 2:48 pm : link
of doing something in the same town BB didn't succeed in might be a selling point for McDaniels too. I think he takes the job.
