Let me paint the picture, for you, before I pose the question
Draft night is here. Goodell announces the Bengals are on the clock. The pundits make it sound like there is a decision looming at #1, but we know there isn’t. After a few minutes,
Burrow goes #1. During the hat and jersey ceremony, Rapoport comes on the air speaking about buzz about some teams trading up to 2, for a QB, as well as 3 is in play.
***Trade***
Miami deals up from 5 and selects Tua
Rapoport comes back on talking about how the deal was in the works since the combine, but heated up in recent weeks. Watch out for 3, because you Tua and Burrow aren’t the only QBs that are coveted. A few minutes passes,
***Trade***
Raiders deal up from 12, to #3 and selected Herbert.
Here we are. The unthinkable has happened. Chase Young has fallen into our laps. That Washington win didn’t cost us after all!
Gettleman’s phone rings. A team, perhaps the Jets or Colts, are interested in dealing up for Young. The offer is their first this year, along with their 2nd and a 2nd next year. They won’t budge on a 1st rounder next year.
Are you missing out on Young for the extra draft capital? What’s the least you would take to deal down to the 11-20 range?
While I don’t see the above happening, I wouldn’t discount the chances that there is movement above us, which could create some hysteria. With the amount of teams needing QBs in the 5-9 range, teams could fall back and still get supreme talent at positions of need.
Now, are we a 3-4 or a 4-3? I have reservations about Young playing OLB in a 3-4.
Hell no. TWO 2nd-rounders is not enough to move up 8 spots that high up in the draft (up to #4 from #11 or #12). That's a terrible deal for the Giants especially because they'd be missing out on the best player in the draft and a special talent. IMO you only consider it if Young and Okudah are both gone and you judge that the remaining talent is more even, and even then I'd say you start the conversation at THREE 2nd rounders and go from there.
The Jets traded THREE 2nd rounders to move from #6 to #3 in 2018, there's no way we're letting them go from #11 up to #4 for just TWO 2nd rounders.
Have made my peace with not getting Chase Young, happy with whoever they pick, team has a lot of holes.
Perhaps more, but my point was next years 1st wouldn’t be on the table. I think the majority of people would accept that. It’s all hypothetical, obviously. Just wondering where everyone’s head is at with Young and what it would take for them to pass
I’ll agree with you there, but I will say, I believe Tua goes before our pick and Herbert goes in the top 10. And if those two things can happen, while unlikely, the above scenario is possible
If you've scouted him and have decided he's a better prospect BY FAR than any of the linemen on the board, yeah, you take him and don't look back.
If the team calling you is willing to overpay (more than fair value), make the trade.
If the team calling you is offering fair value, you have to game out the worst-case scenarios and figure out if you are willing drop that far down your board to get another guy in the 2nd. Maybe you are. If you get a 2nd this year you can probably address three of: ER, OT, OC and WR, all in the first two rounds. That would be tempting.
Unless, of course, Young has also been touched by the hand of God.

Well done! *applause*
I suspect it is more likely the 2 bluechipper goes 2 and 3....i doubt Redskins forgo Young....and Lion take the corner.
And our phone starts ringing for QBs.
Miami hoping Tua falling to 5....won't happen....i would love a simple swap with Miami....
And double tap...2nd small trade down
I doubt it, as well. Crazier things have happened. What makes this draft unique, is teams 2-4 don’t need QBs. Teams 5-7, you could argue, do.
In most drafts, those teams are not that close together. Moving up from 5, 6 or 7, won’t be as costly as it would be in most drafts.
We will see, come draft night
But, in reality, I would be very open to dealing. I would even be open to another pick at #4
We need upgrades in numerous places folks and the rookie contracts of Barkley and Jones will run out sooner than you want.
The idea of grabbing several red-chippers vs one blue-chip and stair-step the starting roster's talent.
Oh and by the way, Young isn't all that and a bag of chips...
As for Oak. I don't think they'd take a QB @ 12. They need WRs in the worst way.

Perfect answer.
Burrow, maybe Tua top 5. Herbert? One thing the Daniel Jones picked showed was that a team may well have a different view of the rankings.
Redskins could take an OT or even Okudah. Young might be there.
If you trade down and still get a guy like Wirfs and pick up a 2nd and maybe a 3rd?
And he'd be right.
The Giants are at least 2 steps away from true contention. They need ballplayers...if they can trade value because someone is chasing a Pick, go get picks.
