I don’t think so. I think Baltimore May be the easiest team to plan against because their passing game lacks big names so you may not have to worry about superstar WRs or TE. That way you could concentrate on stopping LJackson’s play options, which are many. If you are successful at doing this, you could take them down. I don’t believe Jackson can beat you with his arm, but only with his legs. So take out his legs and your chances for success skyrocket. I know easier said than done, but Tennessee has a pretty solid defense, so they could do it. I hope so.

We must’ve been watching a different Jackson all year. He can def beat you with his arm. He’s not the most accurate passer, but he’s streaky. Tennessee has to do their best to limit is rushing lanes and control the edges. Their focus from a passing perspective should be the middle of the field and force Jackson to throw outside the hashes.
I don’t think they have, defensively, the pieces to get it done. I’ve got Baltimore by 13
Jackson is a fine passer that will only get better....... Â
I'll never forgive the Ravens for humiliating us 20 years ago either although to be fair, it would've helped if the Giants bothered to show up for that game. Why among other things Fassel didn't yank Collins for Jason Garrett after he got hurt is beyond me
if Baltimore starts to panic and get away from what got them here.
If you're going to beat baltimore, this is how you have to do it. Try to get up early, control the ball because they aren't designed to play from behind.
Former Giants Kalif Raymond with a fantastic catch Â

Titans the no. 1 scoring offense the last 8 games of the year.
looks good. Great throw on the TD. The Titans D is smothering Jackson and the Baltimore offense. Their offense is doing more than enough, especially more pounding with Henry.
He is inaccurate. If it’s not wide open by high school standards or an easy 5 yard pitch/catch he can’t make the throw consistently. That’s a problem. Especially so in the playoffs vs good coaches and good teams.
Could be, but for the most part, outside of two unbelievable plays by unheralded Titans, an uncharacteristic drop by a pro bowl tight end, and dumb penalties, the Ravens have been playing better. Of course, all three if those things matter.

is anywhere close, why would Conklin leave the Titans for the Giants? We'd have to blow it out with a massive contract offer.
NO WAY Conk will sign wit the Giants... We need to build through the draft... The only players coming here in FA in '20 are "role guys"... Late in career or victims of #'s who have "want it"...
Maybe not in the old school "if it touches your fingertips you should catch it" standard, but definitely by the Eli Manning standard. Off the fingers of a leaping 6'5" pro bowl tight end when it didn't need to be high, is high.
It’s obvious what he can and can’t do to anyone who doesn’t have an agenda.
You called a ball that hit a TE in the hands a "shitty throw". It's obvious that you have an agenda.
His 6’5” TE was fully stretched and it went off his finger tips. It was a shitty throw. One of many tonight. The announcers at the half even commented how inaccurate he’s been and brushed it off to rust.
He’s a liability as a passer. Full stop. The Titans plan was to keep him in the pocket and make Lamar beat the Titans with his arm. The results obviously show that was the correct plan.

Highly disagree. Giants will spend money and bring in a couple key players. Many free agents are young and in prime.
First the Niners pound it out, and now the Titans. Maybe the league is starting to come back to run/pass balance again.
Not really. The Titans don’t have a good QB.
Jimmy G played a role in both the early touchdowns and the 49ers had a lead for most of the game, and in the postseason you’re going to get conservative earlier with a lead and less risk adverse.
Not a chance we attract those guys... Appreciate ur optimism though.. If I am wrong.. I will eat my hat on BBI... But I stand by my position.

They were out coached, couldn’t block and the defense played soft
It doesn't negate it. What it highlights is that a strong defensive team that can make Jackson 1-dimensional will be able to stop the Ravens. If you make Jackson thrown the ball to beat you, he'll likely fail, and in the playoffs, you'll face teams that can do that very thing.

Being conservative when protecting a lead only works if you can run the football. Otherwise you hand the momentum to your opponent and that lead of yours evaporates pretty quickly.

Ok. Tannehill is going to throw for less than 100 yards in back to back games.

They don't? I'm not sure what you've been watching but since he took over they've been one of the best teams in the league. He might not be a great QB but he's definitely a good one.
His first two TD throws tonight we're pretty damn good as was his run for one.

I wasn't interested in Greg Roman either unless he was bringing the offensive line with him. Even then I don't want 4.8 Daniel Jones running the read option.

They are forcing him to throw the ball. Put it this way - the Ravens are the #1 seed, and they got there by running the ball. Force Jackson to pass and they don't even resemble a playoff team.
Reposting the thread of the SD game doesn't seem to be so hilarious as it was last week when people were patting themselves on the back discussing Jackson's greatness.
bc i had a feeling this team was going to win. they are well coached, control the trenches, have henry, and tannehill is play mistake free.
i got lucky bc they went up early which plays directly into the game flow that makes them win, but i'm telling you, this team is legit and vrabel is a hell of a coach.
i don't think they can beat KC though. KC can score fast w hill, kelce, etc -- the ravens have hollywood and that's it

So? He didn’t turn it over and he made enough plays to keep the defense honest.
Lamar doesn’t win in the playoffs. You have to be able to make plays from the pocket.
The Titans gave him all day to throw from the pocket for the most part. No blitzing. Any competent QB would’ve shredded the Titans rushing 4 and playing zone every down.
That tells you all you need to know about what the Titans thought about his ability to beat them w his arm.
I wasn't interested in Greg Roman either unless he was bringing the offensive line with him. Even then I don't want 4.8 Daniel Jones running the read option.

Exactly. I doubt the Titans would look like this rushing 4 and playing zone all day w no pressure vs Brees.

Jackson beat teams with his arm during the regular season. The Titans aren’t winning because they’re forcing him to pass. They’re beating them because they’re taking away the middle of the field, which has been the bread and butter of the Ravens passing game all season.
Jackson still has a lot of growing to do but this game is more of a reflection on Harbaugh than if Lamar is good like some on this thread suggest. Ryan Tannehill isn’t a better passer than Lamar, there’s years of data proving that.
I guess "Today's NFL" isn't all it's cracked up to be. Maybe those Ivy League analytics guys can come down on the field to block and tackle.
Ah yes, nothing like taking a small sample size and using it to justify anything
Yeah just like how all the MLB teams are going back to valuing AVG and abandoning launch velo and angle just because the Nationals won the WS *eye roll*

You're just not watching if you don't think this is because of Jackson. He has two Insta on horrible passes and a fumble showing little pocket awareness. Titans plan was to keep him in pocket and it has worked. Saying otherwise is just to try and fit your narrative that he isn't a bad passer. Jackson is fucking electric but as a runner. He doesn't make enough plays from pocket.
At least your boy is rolling up junk stats so you have some shitty stat argument to lean on when people’s memory fades on this ass kicking.
Lol. It's barely debatable. Jackson is electric but as a runner. He leaves alot to be desired as a passer and as many say it's hard to teach accuracy....
in the playoffs, you are facing good teams every week that are gameplanning.
Jackson beat a lot of teams this year that weren't good enough to force him to throw. And we aren't talking great defenses - just ones that can make him one-dimensional. It is likely he'll have lost to two teams that won't have made it past the next game after beating the Ravens.

He threw 36 touchdown passes. He makes plenty of plays with his arm.
Like I said, he’s far from perfect as a passer but he’s not the albatross from the pocket some are making him out to be to fit their narratives. Two games against teams that had perfect game plans and executed them don’t prove anything.

I'm not saying he can't win but he isn't close to the perfect QB many have made him out to be. He is inaccurate

I agree. He’s definitely electric as a runner. That’s not good enough in the playoffs.
Vick had limitations as a passer but he looks like Peyton Manning next to Lamar. That’s how bad Lamar is as a pocket passer.

They aren't "perfect gameplans". They are making Jackson have to throw the ball. And he's failing at that. This is what you get in the postseason. You aren't rolling up 6TD's against Miami

Making him pass outside the hashes, not just making him pass. The Ravens passing offense was a nightmare to defend in the middle of the field all season.
Why do these fucking refs continue to blow the play dead when a defender jumps offsides. Yet, if it were Aaron Rodgers, they would keep it alive and let him heave the ball 60 yards down field for a free play?
My guess is the reason is analytics. Don't know the exact numbers but it was the reason Shurmur went for it down 8 vs. the Falcons. It doesn't look good when you fail on the first attempt.

It's dumb then lol
Go for two when you get the score from 28-20 to 28-26.
Now they have to make two conversions, and if they miss one they're screwed.
They are essentially down 2 scores with six and change left....this game is not really over.
But that going for two makes it a huge difference now.

Agreed. There was an article about Doug Pederson and going for two around the time Shurmur did that against the Falcons. It worked for Shurmur except the defense gave up another score.
is going to face matchups like this whenever the Ravens make the postseason.
Think of this - when is the last time a #1 seed was dominated in their first playoff game? A home game? And Jackson's performance is directly responsible for the loss.
Couch it however you want, but if you aren't very accurate throwing the ball, a lot of good teams will do what Tenn is doing tonight.
He did not have a good game throwing today though. Titans defense is the biggest surprise of the playoffs so far, they were basically just okay during the season but have been lights out the last two weeks.

Teams in every sport use analytics. Baseball is just the furthest along and has the most available to the public
Normally I would agree, but after failing on the two point conversion, he is still within two TDs and two 2-point conversions from tying the score. And if he was successful, he knows he only needs two TDs and to kick the extra point for each. But if he kicked the extra point on that TD and then waited until scoring the TD that put them within two points, he only gets one crack at the 2-point conversion. This way he gets two out of three shots rather than needing to go one for one.

I don’t dislike Lamar. What you’re seeing tonight and last year vs the Chargers is what I projected his draft year.
But you had some posters who were all about him and then wanted to suck their own dicks when he put up some wins and stats. So there’s some vindication there seeing him play like who I thought he was.
He’s an exciting player to watch with what he brings with his legs. There’s no denying that. It’s just premature and annoying that Joe Public is crowning this guy when he’s obviously limited as a passer at this point.

The theory is the odds are you’ll make two two point conversions more often than missing two of three and if you make the first two you can win the game with a third
Miami knocks off New England in Week 17 to give him a bye, and Tennessee knocks off Baltimore to give him home field advantage. Can he finally get his ring?

Great! But it’s obvious Lamar being Lamar won’t win a championship. And if they have a few more playoff losses like this it will probably get Harbaugh fired, even though he saddled with a one dimensional QB. Is that the goal?
#1 seed losing to a #6 seed. And not just losing, but being dominated. It doesn't have to get pinned all on Jackson, but this isn't like two evenly matched teams played and Baltimore simply came out on the bottom.

Well, after tonight you are at least partially vindicated for sure ... Playoff Lamar is not the same as regular season Lamar. This is gonna stick with him until he wins a playoff game.
Some spectacular runs and remarkable throws. Then there were throws that make Tim Tebow look good.
But it is true, he is good down the middle and comical to the sidelines..

He’s 23 years old. He’s got some football left and probably a little bit of progression (we assume as much in our own players). There’s a pretty good shot there’s a championship in his future.

He’s an exciting player to watch with what he brings with his legs. There’s no denying that. It’s just premature and annoying that Joe Public is crowning this guy when he’s obviously limited as a passer at this point.
Well, after tonight you are at least partially vindicated for sure ... Playoff Lamar is not the same as regular season Lamar. This is gonna stick with him until he wins a playoff game.
It's bullshit though, like claiming that Daniel Jones is going to turn the ball over 9 out of ten games for the rest of his career.
I mean, every year 11 quarterbacks lose a playoff game. Some do multiple times. Some even lose multiple games well into their careers, not merely their first two seasons like Lamar. You can't simply deduce that the way they play makes it impossible for them to win one.
Also went to prison in his prime. Nobody knows what could have happened.
Spin it however you want but it is what it is.
Vick could’ve had a shot in a scheme tailored to him. He had a few good years w the Eagles at the tail end of his career. If he never went to jail he would’ve been stuck in ATL with a bad scheme. So who knows.
Lamar has everything tailored to him and it’s not good enough. You can only hide so much.
RE: RE: RE: RE: Not sure why he went for 2 there... Â
My guess is the reason is analytics. Don't know the exact numbers but it was the reason Shurmur went for it down 8 vs. the Falcons. It doesn't look good when you fail on the first attempt.
It's def an analytics call
It's dumb then lol
Go for two when you get the score from 28-20 to 28-26.
Now they have to make two conversions, and if they miss one they're screwed.
They are essentially down 2 scores with six and change left....this game is not really over.
But that going for two makes it a huge difference now.
Not really. If you go for two at the end of the game and miss. Game over, you lose. If you miss at that point in the game, you still have the opportunity to make it up.
I'm in favor of going for two as early as possible instead of the last minute. It doesn't change the math at all, you still need a two, but at least if you miss it the first time, you have the opportunity to make it again.

Tonight Lamar's legs kept the Ravens in the game, it wasn't his passing, even though he made a handful of really nice ones.
If he doesn't get better on the out routes, they will not advance in the playoffs.
He’s better than Vick imo. I’d go the other way and bet on him winning a SB. We’ll see but he will have his team in position to win championships a lot in January over the years. What everybody needs to remember is how young he is and his potential to get even better as a player.

Vick went to prison at 26 years old. Spent two years not playing football. He very well could have won a Super Bowl, and was a game away from one in his 4th season.

Lamar is a better passer and has had a lot more success than RG3, they’re really not that comparable. He’s much better at avoiding contact as well, which is what really sets him apart from most mobile QBs.

He was way too limited a passer to win one. And when they beat GB in Lambeau, he had 117 yards passing. Not like he lit teams up.
is going to face matchups like this whenever the Ravens make the postseason.
Think of this - when is the last time a #1 seed was dominated in their first playoff game? A home game? And Jackson's performance is directly responsible for the loss.
Couch it however you want, but if you aren't very accurate throwing the ball, a lot of good teams will do what Tenn is doing tonight.
This Titans team is playing with supreme confidence right now.
The big colleges did not want him as a QB which is why he went to Louisville. He goes on to win the Heisman.
He was not drafted as a high first rounder. He will win the MVP most likely in his second year.
How many years was it till Peyton won his first playoff game?
The Titans outclassed the Ravens on both lines. If the Ravens build a better team around him, get him a better QB developer as a Coach and not ask him to do so much.........he has a good chance. I would not bet against this kid yet.

2012 NYG at GB
Ah yes the game where Bill Leavy was responsible for more points than our opponent!
I’ve got Baltimore by 13
Well, I nailed the game plan, but I was wrong about Tennessee. They did have the pieces. Wow
Although the Ravens are a really good franchise.

Can the Titans stop Lamar?
Looking forward to watching old school football in this game.
I think people forget how dominant they were the second half of the season.
Both AFC games are going to be routes, imo. Both NFC games will be tight, one score affairs.
Should be fun whatever happens.
Although the Ravens are a really good franchise.
I'll never forgive the Ravens for humiliating us 20 years ago either although to be fair, it would've helped if the Giants bothered to show up for that game. Why among other things Fassel didn't yank Collins for Jason Garrett after he got hurt is beyond me
And Windy.
25mph winds possible at gmame time.
Yup
At some point tannehill is going to have to make plays if they wanna win. 72yards passing won’t win this game
Yup same guy whose regressed for 3 straight years and is now injury prone
You sure know football
If he gonna get aggressive and try and win the game if it’s third and short ?

Because he is so loyal and blinded by Gettleman he’ll take any position to protect him
He doesn’t know shit about football.

I think it's the same Tannehill with a different, BETTER organization.
If you're going to beat baltimore, this is how you have to do it. Try to get up early, control the ball because they aren't designed to play from behind.
Hope they keep it up

He is a great player. Average passer. Can that win in today's NFL?
Ducks to the outside.
I disagree. He’s thrown with very clean pockets and it fluttered not
He is a great player. Average passer. Can that win in today's NFL?
Average passer is being extremely generous.
It’s obvious Vrabel’s plan is to force Lamar to beat them with his arm, and it’s the correct strategy. He’s a liability as a passer.

I agree.
He has had plenty of time to throw.
He just isn't an accurate passer
The guy is very young. He made big improvements this year with his passing. One of the best players in the league; you can win with that as your QB.

Yes but you have to be able to always play from ahead
He is inaccurate. If it’s not wide open by high school standards or an easy 5 yard pitch/catch he can’t make the throw consistently. That’s a problem. Especially so in the playoffs vs good coaches and good teams.
Big opportunity for Ravens here before half.
Big opportunity for Ravens here before half.
Agreed.
That's inaccuracy.
The Titans are doing what SD did last season - force Jackson to throw to win the game.
This game has had more solid tackles thrn the Giants put together all year.
Excuse the spelling on the above sarcasm.
Great drive
Either team can win this.
It’s obvious what he can and can’t do to anyone who doesn’t have an agenda.
Could be, but for the most part, outside of two unbelievable plays by unheralded Titans, an uncharacteristic drop by a pro bowl tight end, and dumb penalties, the Ravens have been playing better. Of course, all three if those things matter.

Here comes the spin from the Lamar fanboys.
He struggled to the sideline but he makes accurate throws. Makes tough throws. It isn’t just wide open stuff. That statement is inaccurate.
Lol.
They keep getting errors on simulations with a win where their QB can’t throw.

The Titans have to make decisions on Tannehill, Henry, Ryan, and Woodyard in addition to Conklin. They don’t have a ton of space.

If you're talking about the INT you're nuts. Andrews is 6'5 that ball was WAY high
NO WAY Conk will sign wit the Giants... We need to build through the draft... The only players coming here in FA in '20 are "role guys"... Late in career or victims of #'s who have "want it"...
Reminds me of Anquan Boldin.

Fowler
Yannick
Dupree
Judon
Conklin
Littleton
Schobert
Barret
Not all will make it to FA but all of those guys are younger side of things and would be quality adds

Not really. The Titans don’t have a good QB.
Jimmy G played a role in both the early touchdowns and the 49ers had a lead for most of the game, and in the postseason you’re going to get conservative earlier with a lead and less risk adverse.

That's one candidate I wasn't really excited about. Defense has not been the strength of this team and they've mostly been protecting leads.

Well the Giants do have more cap space than the Titans. I believe it's about 13-15 mil more and that's before any cuts like Ogletree, Ellison etc.

I wasn't interested in Greg Roman either unless he was bringing the offensive line with him. Even then I don't want 4.8 Daniel Jones running the read option.
Fully expected it
They are forcing him to throw the ball.
Would LOVE for the Giants to sign him this offseason.
i got lucky bc they went up early which plays directly into the game flow that makes them win, but i'm telling you, this team is legit and vrabel is a hell of a coach.
i don't think they can beat KC though. KC can score fast w hill, kelce, etc -- the ravens have hollywood and that's it

Lol. It's barely debatable. Jackson is electric but as a runner. He leaves alot to be desired as a passer and as many say it's hard to teach accuracy....
Jackson beat a lot of teams this year that weren't good enough to force him to throw. And we aren't talking great defenses - just ones that can make him one-dimensional. It is likely he'll have lost to two teams that won't have made it past the next game after beating the Ravens.

Reposting the thread of the SD game doesn't seem to be so hilarious as it was last week when people were patting themselves on the back discussing Jackson's greatness.

Still the 27th passing offense in football....
I'm not saying he can't win but he isn't close to the perfect QB many have made him out to be. He is inaccurate
Jackson beat a lot of teams this year that weren't good enough to force him to throw. And we aren't talking great defenses - just ones that can make him one-dimensional. It is likely he'll have lost to two teams that won't have made it past the next game after beating the Ravens.
The Titans made Tom Brady look like a poor passer last week, maybe their defense is just really good and really well coached?
What caused you to dislike Lamar Jackson so much? Is it a “I’m vindicated in predicting he wouldn’t be good” thing, or does he rub you the wrong way? Honestly curious.

Lol. It's barely debatable. Jackson is electric but as a runner. He leaves alot to be desired as a passer and as many say it's hard to teach accuracy....
I agree. He’s definitely electric as a runner. That’s not good enough in the playoffs.
Vick had limitations as a passer but he looks like Peyton Manning next to Lamar. That’s how bad Lamar is as a pocket passer.

Oh come on, of course it is that.

Is there a rule I’m missing? I’m sure there is

My guess is the reason is analytics. Don't know the exact numbers but it was the reason Shurmur went for it down 8 vs. the Falcons. It doesn't look good when you fail on the first attempt.
It's def an analytics call
Amazing that he was stuck behind Dion Lewis ... this an all-time great run.

It's dumb then lol
Go for two when you get the score from 28-20 to 28-26.
Now they have to make two conversions, and if they miss one they're screwed.
They are essentially down 2 scores with six and change left....this game is not really over.
But that going for two makes it a huge difference now.
Evidently doesn't know that he's blowing/wasting TOs by calling them before the last two minutes and that only Pat Shurmur does that.
Sounds disgusting

Think of this - when is the last time a #1 seed was dominated in their first playoff game? A home game? And Jackson's performance is directly responsible for the loss.
Couch it however you want, but if you aren't very accurate throwing the ball, a lot of good teams will do what Tenn is doing tonight.

It's kind of like the Monty Hall brainteaser (but not really)... from wikipedia - ( New Window )

Great! But it’s obvious Lamar being Lamar won’t win a championship. And if they have a few more playoff losses like this it will probably get Harbaugh fired, even though he saddled with a one dimensional QB. Is that the goal?
At least 3 of those are on Jackson putting it high or behind.

He’s 23 years old. He’s got some football left and probably a little bit of progression (we assume as much in our own players). There’s a pretty good shot there’s a championship in his future.

I would bet against that. His deficiencies aren’t corrected with experience imv.
Vick was a better version of Lamar and never won a ring.
2 game combined: 15/29, 160 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, 5.5YPA.
Some smart coach will make Tannehill beat them and attack Henry - run blitzes.

Quote:
I’ve got Baltimore by 13
Well, I nailed the game plan, but I was wrong about Tennessee. They did have the pieces. Wow
