Dalvin Tomlinson

adamg : 1/11/2020 6:24 pm
In his final year of his rookie contract. We have tons of cap space. I wouldn't mind extending him. He seems legit and really seemed to come into his own at the end of the season. Thoughts on this guy?
He also hasn't missed a game in 3 seasons

.
Good player that should only get better.

No need to break the bank, but deserves a fair contract.
It’s a no brainer to extend him now

I hope it happens
There is no way we pay 2 DTs with Lawrence
superspynyg : 1/11/2020 6:37 pm : link
who do pay? Williams or Tomlinson?

Also did Tomlinson good all year or only after Williams arrival?
I gotta agree with superspy

If Williams is re-signed (which I think we all hope and expect), Tomlinson becomes too situational to warrant big money.
Good point

I guess we might bank on Tomlinson's cheap 4th year and wait for the comp pick. Tomlinson and Williams are good complements, but Lawrence is probably a better complement. Plug Lawrence the 1 and Williams at the 3... Interesting point, Spy.

Thanks!
the best way to use cap space is favorable early extensions

I'd hope to get him on a 4 year extension in the same ball park as Shepard's deal last year. He's a solid, ascending player, and has always had a great rep as a team first guy.

I dont understand why can't you extend a player? The core of the vikings line has been together for years.
wow...Tomlinson is a Terrific young Player
Rafflee : 1/11/2020 7:25 pm : link
I really like that core of Defensive Linemen...3 really terrific football players, and a good foundation to build a Defense. Keeping that intact should be a Major Focus.
good player
bc4life : 1/11/2020 7:26 pm : link
if he leaves - he'll be missed. might be better suited for 4-3.
Nice player

But doesn’t rush the passer enough

No 2nd contract.

We play a 3-4 and will probably continue to. Tomlinson is the NT and a good one. They have every reason to want keep him. Now, whether they will pay him this year is another question but a good NT is a critical spot in a 3-4. And BTW, both Lawrence and Williams are DEs in our 3-4.
No need to sign him this year

Let him earn it....

Guys we’re moving to a world where our QB is
Giants4Life : 1/11/2020 9:08 pm : link
On a rookie deal.. there’s a lot we will be able to do that we could not before
I think that we need one top DE to round out the DL.
yatqb : 1/11/2020 9:12 pm : link
Nothing slow about Williams or Lawrence, and Tomlinson seems very well respected by DG.
They should be looking to extend him once they wrap up
BlueLou'sBack : 1/11/2020 10:42 pm : link
LW. If LW proves difficult because too expensive, then focus on getting Tomlinson done NOW and Franchise tag Williams.
We have a healthy cap situation
TD : 1/11/2020 11:38 pm : link
Definitely extend him now.
Been a fan of Dalvin Tomlinson since his Alabama days
M.S. : 1/12/2020 7:25 am : link

But given how weak the Giants are in rushing the passer, I can definitely see him signing as a free agent somewhere else, and the Giants getting a comp pick.

With Leonard Williams (assuming Giants re-sign him) and Dexter Lawrence on the team, maybe Dalvin Tomlinson becomes a luxury this team just can't afford.

But Tomlinson is a player wherever he may end up!
He's young, durable, and scheme-diverse (hat tip, Mike Mayock).
Klaatu : 1/12/2020 2:07 pm : link
His versatility makes him exactly the type of player that Judge said he wants. He's not flashy. He'll probably never be a "sack-meister," but he'll do the dirty work in the trenches, a la Barry Cofield. You can win with guys like that.
'I wouldn't mind extending him.'
Torrag : 1/12/2020 2:24 pm : link
Once the LW situation plays out one way or another I see them moving onto Dalvin next.
