MBavaro : 1/11/2020 8:01 pm : link
and one win, he deserves it. Those Steeler teams were always great and knocking on the door.
Cowher
jwebb20 : 1/11/2020 8:01 pm : link
Idk

He’s got a great record and super bowl

But did he really alter the game?

It’s really sad that guys like Mike Martz or Marty schottenhiemer won’t get in

Mike Martz?

Yeah

We don’t see the offense we have today without mike martz pushing into popularity. He changed the game forever with Kurt Warner

Did cowher change the game ??
Well deserved.

I guess he was selected by a special “blue ribbon centennial”
Ben in Tampa : 1/11/2020 8:24 pm : link
Committee and not the normal HOF voters?
Any news on George Young?

Marty Schottenheimer
markky : 1/11/2020 8:36 pm : link
should be in
Cowher
Simms : 1/11/2020 8:43 pm : link
Personally do not care but kinds shocked he was in before others.

His lone superbowl win was a hosing of the Seahawks.

In fact him running the ball vs the Colts almost cost him when the bus fumbled and luckily big ben made that tackle.

He was an intense player and HC, a good guy all around. Wish him the best and congratulations.
LOL..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/11/2020 8:46 pm : link
Martz??

He was only the offensive coordinator for that Rams team that won the SB.

Meanwhile, Warner went to the SB with Arizona too
Cowher...
bw in dc : 1/11/2020 8:48 pm : link
made it? Why?
Martz squandered that team as a head coach
widmerseyebrow : 1/11/2020 9:09 pm : link
.
loved him
RasputinPrime : 1/11/2020 9:20 pm : link
well deserved. Very happy for him and his family.
If Cowher is in...
bw in dc : 1/11/2020 9:26 pm : link
Mike Holmgren should get in now.

And can they stop the embarrassment and put Jimmy Johnson in?
Is Cowher in for overall contributions or purely as a coach?
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 1/11/2020 9:37 pm : link
Because if it's overall contributions, Dan Reeves and Jimmy Johnson should be in way before Cowher.

And if Cowher's in for coaching, Coughlin should be a shoo-in and Holmgren should be in.

Based on this Coughlin is automatic.
Great

moment for him, especially seeing it live. Well deserved. Congratulations coach!
Congrats

to Cowher...."Let's go". If he got in Tomlin is on his way. Noll to Cowher and then Tomlin. The organization is amazingly run.

Classy that he paid tribute to Coach Shottenheimer who is really struggling health wise.

I do think that Holmgren should have been in first and not sure how you keep him out. More impressive resume and his coaching tree is tremendous with Reid as the highlight.

I think there is a personality factor that is in play. Cowher had the chin and the huge intensity.

Holmgren wore the glasses, looked more professorial, and was much less emotional.

So who is easier to remember?

Yet, like you said, when you study their accomplishments it’s pretty clear Holmgren doesn’t take a back seat at all to Cowher.
Good for him
BrianLeonard23 : 1/12/2020 6:59 am : link
I was at a restaurant where the pre-game was playing but without sound. When I looked up and saw him tearing up and all the guys and I’m assuming his wife and daughter hugging and congratulating him I thought he was retiring from his TV gig. Ha.

Pretty sure its based on a full assessment of football achievements from the field to coaching to the booth. The way the representative framed it when he awarded Cowher sounded like it was for his contribution to the game as a whole and not just coaching.
Huh?
trueblueinpw : 1/12/2020 2:14 pm : link
I don’t think of Cowher as HOF guy at all. Not ridiculous but I gotta say I was surprised. I’d much rather have Jimmy Johnson. Probably rather have Holmgren too. Anyway, congrats.

Based on that criteria Reeves have been in a long time ago.
Well deserved
