Amazing Giants Stat

twostepgiants : 1/11/2020 11:34 pm
CBS just showed a graphic saying the Titans are 5th team in NFL history to beat a playoff team with a record that was 5 or more wins better than them.

3 of those 5 teams were the Giants!

The 1934 Giants and of course the 2007 Giants for beating the Pats and the 2011 Giants for beating the Packers.

Amazing.

I’ll also add that not only did we beat the undefeated Pats and spare the NFL an 18-0 season but we also spared the NFL the the first 3 Peat with the 49ers in 1990

And let’s not forgot we beat the undefeated defending SB Champion Denver Broncos with a really crappy team.

And we had some of the biggest upsets in SB history with the aforementioned win over the Pats but also over the Bills in 25. The Giants won the Super Bowl 3 times as an underdog and have won 3 NFC Championships on the road.

Quite a history we have had pulling off amazing and improbable upsets and wins.

Great post

It’s awesome that we always win as the underdog.

but it does not seem to coincide with the 2011 season. Pats finished 13-3 and we finished 9-7. Seems to be a win short for the Pats to meet the graphic posted on TV tonight.
Ok, iI see my confusion now.

It was our win over the Pack and not the Pats!

The 2011 part was for the Packers, not the Patriots. The Packers were 15-1 when the Giants beat them in the playoffs. The one for the Pats was for 2007 where they were undefeated on the season (until, of course).

They referred to the Giants beating the Pack 15-1 in the Championship game
