But this year he got one interview and was passed over. Now, the Browns have given no indication they actually know what they’re doing with these decisions but I still think that’s notable.

I wonder how much his attitude and what he did to the colts is doing to him. He will stay in NE and eventually take over for Bill.

It does seem to going against him. Three teams scheduled an interview with him, and he was the last interview for each, with the Giants and Panthers cancelling. Seemed more like a last resort for teams. Also, Rhule and him share an agent, and the agent was negotiating leading up to McDaniels interview with the Oanthers and didn’t give him a heads up. And then on Friday, the guys he was planning on forming a staff with, joined other teams. Karma got him
Until people In the media starting bitching about Caldwell and Bieniemy not getting a head coaching job.. but according to Wikipedia Bieniemy is the browns head coach Link - ( New Window )

Wikipedia can be changed by anybody. I just changed Andy Reid to the Browns HC.
.
I don’t think it’s that. I think he just wants too much control and teams are hesitant on giving him it.
This hire smells like atypical OC that will be a failure within two years.
Wouldn't that show he is atrocious at interviewing though. He comes in and asks for power but everything about him screams he doesn't deserve it. Lack of self-awareness
Cook petty much bottled up, so OC is calling steady diet of screens (49ers LBs controlled those) or slow developing patterns that had Cousins under pressure continuously. Had to mix in more slants or quick outs to slow the pass rush (imho).

Did you watch ESPN last week? It was literally a whole day worth of narratives by the talking heads after the Giants announced Judge. All day about the Rooney rule and this hiring cycle skipping minorities. Some good takes, and some horrible ones, but in the end... facts are the facts. NFL owners are not hiring minority coaches or FO people.
He is who the Browns wanted last year but Dorsey wanted Kitchens. That being said, the only place mcdaniels is getting the full control he wants is New England so he may just wait it out.
trepidation regarding this hire (especially given their track record) but no one here really knows how any of this will play out. I probably would be underwhelmed as well, tbh but only time will tell.
God's name would want to succeed BB in NE? That's a no win situation.
Actually if it were me I'd prefer it. He knows the org and the system, he would inherit the entire setup minus whoever he wants to dump or the people who might follow BB out the door. He's already got the trust of the owner. He's also part owner of the pelts on the wall.
The only downside would be Belichick's shadow, which all things considered would probably be tolerable since nobody expects anyone to follow up BB with much success.
Zimmer probably can’t wait to hire Shurmur

Probably arrogant. Remember that was the knock on Fassel. Came in thinking you should be happy he’s allowing you to interview him lol

I can't see Shurmur going back to Cleveland. Minnesota yes, but not Cleveland

Shurmur going back to Minn makes a lot of sense. No chance he goes back to CLE. No fucking chance
Brown's owners wanted Stefanski last year but former GM dug in his feet and insisted on Kitchens.

Knicks or Browns or Giants?

Yeah. Haslam is a clown show and McDaniels may have only wanted to work with his wife.
McDaniels is the last person who should tell others they shouldn't be making decisions
Apparently the Bears are after Shurmur too.

You mean another job which he won't get

How a New York Giants fan can point fingers and laugh at any other franchise not named 'Knicks' is a mystery.
I think the Superbowl titles help.

How any fan of the Giants for as long as you have been can look at their history and make such a statement is a mystery as well.
