but the knicks aren't doing that of course
Knicks Win Knicks Win!

Tough though, Randle being Randle is tough to watch tho he made enough positive plays even when OOC. RJB getting some cred for 'clutch FTs' because of the W, but he goes 2/4 on the biggest FTs of the night in spite of 8/10 overall...

But the Garden was rockin. Fun game to watch. I don't hate the Heat anymore but nice to knock them over w/ their 3rd best record in the NBA
Wow, the Knicks won

Bull. Hes gotten plenty of time. Hes averaging 20 minutes a night.

BTW: in the 3 games leading into this one Knox scored a total of 13 points in 65 minutes. On 5 of 25 shooting.
Reading through the
LS : 1/12/2020 7:56 pm : link
game thread and figured the Knicks must have gotten killed. Randle obviously sucks. So I go and checked the score and they beat the 27 win Heat? What the hell? Perhaps posters talking out of their ass again and hoping for another Knick loss?
Perhaps read the thread better?

Outside of justified Randle critique (OOC as always and that's often NOT to a positive result like today) and the pessimism of fans of a 10 W team...thread was fine. No one is banging on the Knicks unjustifiably, they suck

Also maybe watch the game before critiquing others opinions who did? That's more nonsensical than any prior post, but do you i guess?

He 20 fucking years old Let him develop 20 minutes a night is no confidence booster
Team is going nowhere with Gibson and bullock getting minutes
RJs free throw percentage has climbed each month.
bceagle05 : 1/12/2020 10:35 pm : link
Much better recently. Now about that three point shot...
Actually while his J needs a ton of work, 3 ball isn't likely to
ChaChing : 1/12/2020 10:59 pm : link
improve a ton during the season. But IMO his FG% in general has to improve. 19 yo rookie so it's not highly concerning yet but below 40% is not good enough

You expect some natural growth over time, but hopefully he works specifically on his interior finishing, his J from about 18' in, shot selection & decision making on the whole. Kind of like how SA worked on Kawhi's shot by starting a) at the line, and b) in and around the paint. Start there, get good, then build the range. Plus that's where his half court strengths are - in the paint, attacking the rim and even some post
They also need to make him the PG more, and not Randle at all
ChaChing : 1/12/2020 11:05 pm : link
the PGs should play point most of the time of course, but RJB should get a chance to make plays. He's a good ball handler & solid passer. For some reason they've gone away from that since early season even b4 Fiz was canned
Trade that makes sense
GMEN46 : 1/13/2020 8:23 am : link
While I have liked watching Bullock fire away, it makes no sense to keep him around. I would send him to philly who really needs some outside shooting for zhaire smith and our own 2nd rounder that they have. Fors cap wise for both teams. They are apparently willing to move smith, not sure how good he will be but certainly worth taking a shot on him, plus getting our own 2nd rounder back would be nice.

Spoelstra
TyreeHelmet : 1/13/2020 10:06 am : link
I just think its a shame [he was fired]. I think it takes a long time to build culture and they hired him for a reason. And its not going to happen overnight, Spoelstra said. I think hes just a brilliant basketball mind and teacher of the game. Its just unfortunate. I look at it all the time and compare it to our situation where we have incredible stability. Its a tough indictment on our profession [that so many coaches are fired so quickly].

I'm getting so sick of these coaches. Just once I want them to say he didn't win enough. And the team has show significant improvement once Miller took over. How can you defend this guy?

Trade Deadline
Pete44 : 1/13/2020 10:19 am : link
Trade deadline should be very interesting, I read today the Knicks still will not deal future 1sts, which is very relieving to here.

However, they need to unload guys like Portis, Bullock and others that are taking time from the young guys. I'm in the camp of trading Marcus Morris, he is 30 years old. Maybe, they can get Kyle Kuzma for him, who is at least younger.

Fizdale was so bad I can't honestly tell

Kevin Knox needs to play big minutes, he is being blocked right now. Robinson needs to play more minutes, but Taj steals his minutes. What are you watching? Honestly, I get very frustrated reading your posts.

Knox seems to lack agression
GeofromNJ : 1/13/2020 12:36 pm : link
It's as if he's thinking about how to play based on what he's being taught at the NBA level instead of simply playing the game. I think once he internalizes all the schooling and it becomes second nature, he'll be more aggressive and no longer hesitant.

You think Knox should play more minutes? If he played defense he would play more..

And how is Taj stealing minutes? he plays 14 minutes a game..

Mitch doesnt play more because he is always in foul trouble..
Knicks at Milwaukee tomorrow. That should be...fun.
bceagle05 : 1/13/2020 1:23 pm : link
Then home against Phoenix on Thursday. Get a split and they'll be 8-12 under Miller, a 32-win pace over the course of a full season. Exactly where they should be with this group.

The Knicks are 11-29. Kevin Knox needs to play more than 20 minutes and Robinson should be starting. These guys need to learn. There is zero benefit to playing guys that won't be here in the future once the trade deadline passes.
Starting Lineup
Pete44 : 1/13/2020 2:32 pm : link
should be:

PG: Frank
SG: RJ
SF: Knox
PF: Morris or Randle
C: Mitch Rob
You start Mitch
nygiants16 : 1/13/2020 2:33 pm : link
he is going to be playing less minutes, when he is not in foul trouble he plays 30 minutes a night..

Knox is playing 20 minutes a night, when he decides to play defense and play more consistently he will get more minutes..

Players have to earn their minutes you cant just say ok go play, who cares how bad they are..
No team operates that way
nygiants16 : 1/13/2020 2:37 pm : link
No team just throws their young players to the wolves, if they play well they play more minutes. If a player can not handle more minutes you can not force it..

Knox can not handle playing 30 minutes a night, he is not good enough..

Frank is not a point guard, forcing him to play point guard hurts him and it hurts every player around him...

The Knicks are focused on player development, the only way the develop is playing in games.

Post trade deadline, how does it help the Knicks to play Reggie Bullock over Kevin Knox? Please explain that to me?

Player development is not just throwing a player to the wolves and saying sink or swim..

How many minutes did jimmy butler play his rookie year?

You cant just throw a player in if he is not ready to play those monutes, it will kill a player by doing that..

And how do you know Bullock cant be a good role player for the Knicks, trading him for a worthless late 2nd does nothing for you, he is on a cheap contract with 2 years of control..
Playing games is not the onoy way to develop a player

Go ask phoenix or atlanta how that is working out for them..

Kevin Knox and Frank are not rookies, they need to play. I think both guys play better, when they are free and easy and don't think they will get pulled for the first mistake.

Reggie Bullock will not be on this team next season.

The Knicks took a shot (a bad one) at being a playoff team while developing the kids and now that the season is a waste, they just need to play the young guys.

Frank has definitely shown flashes and Knox needs confidence and experience. They are not getting that watching Julius Randle try to play defense.

So you think Knox playing bad and grtting abused on defense and missing every shot he throws up for 30 minutes is going to give him confidence?

Frank started much of the beginning of this year, how did that work out?

When frank can put together more than 1 good game he will play more, until then he shouldnt play more..

If a player is struggling the cure is not to play them more, it is to play them a little less and have them play better in shorter timespans....if they do that then you bump their minutes a little bit more..

For example, knox had a great game last night, tkmorrow if he plays well he will play a little bit more...

You have to build consistency before big time minutes

agreed 100%
plus by handing unlimited minuites to kids that don't deserve them (Knox) you are sending the message that there is no accountability. What motivation does the young player have to work harder? Young players can learn a hell of a lot from guys like Morris and Taj Gibson on the court.
Yeah, the minutes thing seems like a nitpick.
bceagle05 : 1/13/2020 3:47 pm : link
Mitch, RJ, Frank and Knox are getting enough playing time to develop, and there's still half a season left. A couple of these vets likely won't be here in a month, which will open up more minutes for Knox either as a starter or reserve. Knicks accomplished nothing last year by throwing a bunch of 20-year-olds out there to get slaughtered every night. Knox got way too much playing time as a rookie - nightly ass-kickings may have hurt his development.

I've watched part of every game this year. The Knicks are not very good. Even an idiot knows that. But this constant beatdown of the team during every game is stupid. If the team gets off to a bad start, some people immediately start piling on. It doesn't matter if they come back and win the game, of if the player they say sucks scores 30. No credit will be given. They were proven wrong that night and they aren't about to admit it. I'm not talking everyone, but you know the ones.
