but why Randle is ever allowed to bring the ball up and initiate the O, or allowed to take the awful shots he takes...
He has a great skillset but still doesn't know how to use it, and makes too many shit decisions
Funny in contrast to them using RJB less in that fashion from earlier in the season. He's much better playing point than Randle and deserves to do so at least for short stretches of games, esp when he's on
always feels like the moment where young (if not just bad teams) start running out of gas. It's not 100% but to me it speaks to the idea it's hard to play consistently well for a full 48 minutes
Barrett just had a couple good plays, nice righty layup w/ contact Â
I really can't stand watching Julius Randle play basketball. Just a stupid ass player all around. I missed the start of the game, where is Frank? I'm praying those clowns Mills and Perry hold onto the kids (Frank, Robinson, RJ and Knox) but I'm afraid they're going to make some desperation moves to save their own asses. They need to trade all the vets on 1 year deals and bring up some of the guys playing well in the G-League before they lose them to other teams that are smart enough to develop young talent. Being a Knicks fan sucks.
RE: Barrett just had a couple good plays, nice righty layup w/ contact Â
Basically what they are still allowing Randle to do, should be what they put on RJB's plate. And Randle should play a bit more like a traditional big. Only time he should 'handle' the ball at all is on the break, and that too after deferring to the Gs or RJB
PGs should play point call it 60-75% of the time, w/ Payton taking that lead. RJB most of the rest, maybe even in the 4th. Payton somehow does a lot of good, but at times in big moments makes awful decisions out of nowhere...not sure if that's a thing for him but seems the case in NYK games
IMO you don't try to foul because they are going to have to shoot immediately. And if they aren't in shooting position, there's no time to get off a shot
Tough though, Randle being Randle is tough to watch tho he made enough positive plays even when OOC. RJB getting some cred for 'clutch FTs' because of the W, but he goes 2/4 on the biggest FTs of the night in spite of 8/10 overall...
But the Garden was rockin. Fun game to watch. I don't hate the Heat anymore but nice to knock them over w/ their 3rd best record in the NBA
game thread and figured the Knicks must have gotten killed. Randle obviously sucks. So I go and checked the score and they beat the 27 win Heat? What the hell? Perhaps posters talking out of their ass again and hoping for another Knick loss?
Outside of justified Randle critique (OOC as always and that's often NOT to a positive result like today) and the pessimism of fans of a 10 W team...thread was fine. No one is banging on the Knicks unjustifiably, they suck
Also maybe watch the game before critiquing others opinions who did? That's more nonsensical than any prior post, but do you i guess?
improve a ton during the season. But IMO his FG% in general has to improve. 19 yo rookie so it's not highly concerning yet but below 40% is not good enough
You expect some natural growth over time, but hopefully he works specifically on his interior finishing, his J from about 18' in, shot selection & decision making on the whole. Kind of like how SA worked on Kawhi's shot by starting a) at the line, and b) in and around the paint. Start there, get good, then build the range. Plus that's where his half court strengths are - in the paint, attacking the rim and even some post
They also need to make him the PG more, and not Randle at all Â
the PGs should play point most of the time of course, but RJB should get a chance to make plays. He's a good ball handler & solid passer. For some reason they've gone away from that since early season even b4 Fiz was canned
While I have liked watching Bullock fire away, it makes no sense to keep him around. I would send him to philly who really needs some outside shooting for zhaire smith and our own 2nd rounder that they have. Fors cap wise for both teams. They are apparently willing to move smith, not sure how good he will be but certainly worth taking a shot on him, plus getting our own 2nd rounder back would be nice.

morris for smith, cap filler and a 1st
biggest thing for Barrett, besides improving his shot.... Â
.... is learning how to use his right hand. Early in the year, when he got off to a good start, the book wasn't out on him yet. Now, everyone in the league knows to overplay his left and force him to go right, because he can't really do it.

Game has been neck and neck to this point fwiw. Some good stretches of D here and there too (no doubt lots of break downs, but well...)
I’ve been impressed with what Miller’s done since taking over. And he’s had limited opportunities to run full practices.

Payton: 3
Randle: 3
Barrett: 0
Gibson: 0
Barrett got off to a good start in first quarter making his own plays but, as often happens, he does not stay in flow of offense with Payton at point.
Knicks still fighting fwiw, but down 8

Miller left Barrett in the game when Payton went out and he's back in the flow of things.

Randle w/ a triple to put the knicks up 2. His first 4th qtr 3
James Johnson answers...
hitting FTs today too
Holy fuck. "Butler jumped into RB as much as RB moved into JB, who still stayed upright..."

but the knicks aren't doing that of course

Bull. He’s gotten plenty of time. He’s averaging 20 minutes a night.
BTW: in the 3 games leading into this one Knox scored a total of 13 points in 65 minutes. On 5 of 25 shooting.

he's gotten minutes but he's been awful lately. Like worst player in the league awful. Like many young players, he's gotta develop consistency.

He 20 fucking years old Let him develop 20 minutes a night is no confidence booster
Team is going nowhere with Gibson and bullock getting minutes
