throughout the year, but IMO, it's not as good as Ohio States. I think it will be a higher scoring game, but I can't wait to see how Clemson's defense fares against LSU's offense. Should be a good chess match.

Don’t sleep on Venables. He’s such a good defensive coordinator. Really interested to see what he comes up with to stop the offense.
It’s possible it’s a shoot out, like the ACC championship a few years ago, but Clemson needs to start hot for that to happen.
Anyone else just realize they pushed the game itself back a week. It’s usually the werk after the playoff game.
as much as Clemson did this year. They went undefeated and won the National Championship last year, but never reached number 1 in the rankings this year, despite going undefeated.
Just goes to show how the SEC is viewed. Here's to Clemson and beating LSU tonight.
This team hasn't lost in 29 straight games, and has Trevor Lawrence.
People thought Alabama was going to crush them last year, too, and Clemson took them out behind the woodshed.
Not saying they are going to win, but Clemson isn't getting blown out. This will be a good game against two great teams.
Totally. The Conferences have basically become one great team and then a handful that can push them a bit for a loss in season. The ACC doesn’t have a team that can really push Clemson.
Clemson D is a lot better than they are getting credit for. Venables has shown he can neutralize some top offenses, and he's had an extra week to plan.
Clemson's DBs are as good as LSU has seen this year, and Simmons plays like an extra DB. Etienne and Lawrence running the ball are also great equalizers, and Higgins/Ross ability to make big plays also is something LSU has not likely seen.
Clemson is susceptible to power running, which LSU can do (watch the Bama game), and they need to blitz to apply pressure, so we'll see what Venables comes up with.
Seems to be so much emphasis on LSU's offense, which obviously is terrific, but it's totally overshadowing a very balanced and dynamic Clemson O.
Close game, will come down to who makes the big plays, and if Clemson can get to Burrow.
RE: Have you ever seen a team fly under the radar Â

Clemson actually began the year ranked #1 and stayed there for first 5 weeks of the season, then stuffed a 2point conversion to avoid an upset to the Tarheels 21-20 and that's when they dropped from #1 in the rankings.
But seriously, I think it'll be somewhat of a shootout. You have Lawrence with Higgins and Ross. You have Burrow with Jefferson and Chase. All the makings of a gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
if they'd kept their composure in the semi. I don't think LSU will crumble in the same fashion.
Well they did have the ball with a minute to go and a chance to win the game. They moved the ball with ease in 3 plays to get to Tiger territory only for Fields to throw that back breaking pick.

Yeah, but they had multiple chances to grab their composure and never did. So many mental errors. OSU was the more talented team, but the battle-tested champs came through.

I think LSU pulls it off in the end, though
I think it's funny that they are both the "Tigers" and both call their stadium "Death Valley"
Fun fact #1. Actually 46 colleges have the nickname Tigers.
Fun fact #2. Tigers is actually only the 2nd most commonly used nickname. Eagles is actually #1 with 64.
In my opinion, if LSU has a weakness it's in their secondary. And Clemson's WR crew will eat them up -- those kids are big and fast. Dabo might even put his kids in there for a play or two.
We'll see. I also think people almost always overlook Travis Etienne. He's been a big play machine all year but he doesn't get talked about much with Lawrence and Higgins getting most of the hype.
I love this game for all the big time NFL talent Â

LSU's secondary is the strength of their entire defense.
is way too inflated based on LSU blowing out an Oklahoma team that was nowhere near the same class as the other 3 playoff teams, and Clemson sneaking by Ohio State with a bit of good fortune (yes, I'm still bitter!)
But they're still the defending champs, still loaded with talent. Clemson is just as good, if not better, than LSU and they're getting 6 points? I'll take that all day. This is going to be a close game. I don't think it'll be the coronation of LSU that many are expecting. Venables is as good as it gets at making adjustments with his defense and I think Clemson's skill guys can make plays on the LSU D.
I'm bias, but I think LSU has the goods this year. The offense is unlike previous years and has really shocked me.
Also, I know that Clemson is a good team, and I'm not trying to take anything away from their win streak, but they basically have a free pass to the playoffs every year with whatever the ACC trots out there. And they're not scheduling anyone challenging because they don't have to.
Anyone know if he still does it, I'd be willing to pay to read his thoughts. I'm not a big college football game, but I watched a lot more in previous years b/c Sy gave insight on guys we should watch.

This gets said about Clemson every year, but this is the fourth time in five years they're playing for the national championship. Two of those times, they beat big bad Alabama for the title. Another time, Bama barely squeaked past them in a very competitive game.
Given all they've accomplished, griping about their schedule is kind of silly.

I'm not saying they couldn't do it with a tougher schedule. But they don't.
They have the ACC which is a bunch of creampuffs and then they don't schedule harder competition. No one is doubting their pedigree or the fact that they can/have beat other good teams when they get to the championship.
Oh please, like anyone in the SEC plays a tough OOC schedule Â
Auburn played preseason top 10 Oregon and beat them. LSU played Texas in Austin, a season after Texas was coming off a bowl win over Georgia. Georgia played Notre Dame. That's kind of a blanket statement to say they nobody in the conference plays anyone out of conference.
I'm saying that it's a silly reason to knock Clemson when they have proven, repeatedly, that they're good enough to beat anyone. Six years ago? OK, sure. Now? It's just SEC whining.

This will NOT be a blow out.
I guessed almost every game.

I think if clemson avoids a slow start, they will win.

Clemson repeats.
Two elite QB's and two great defenses. This is the type of game where special teams could really effect the outcome and of course, turnovers.
This should be a good one.
The wife sent me a picture of Nikki Haley all decked out in her Clemson gear walking Bourbon street yesterday. Everybody is representing!!
He's an absolute monster and if you try to take him out, Ross will burn guys on the other side.
The two keys to me - The Clemson OL giving Lawrence time (OSU got a lot of pressure). The Clemson DL stopping the LSU running game.
Edwards-Helaire is going to be a great NFL RB.
I think I'm pulling for Clemson.

Interesting thought - Lawrence as the best QB prospect since Elway. There's been a lot of guys touted as the best QB prospect since Elway.
No doubt he'll be pick #1 next year - I'm really intrigued to see how he does at the NFL level.

The ACC was terrible this year - the SEC, not so much.
It even takes a shot at those running things!!
LSU faced the SEC and then scheduled Texas this year, who was #9 in the country when they played.
