He has done an exceptional job with this LSU QB and offense. Broyles award winner, NFL experience with NO. Is this the greatest college offense ever? Seems destined to join the NFL.
Would be thrilled to have him. He was a GA at Penn State with Barkley.
Expect that with any success as an NFL OC that he'll get HC looks before he turns 33.
Probably ends up a Panther.
I wanted to interview him as a HC candidate...

News: #LSU asst Joe Brady, via a signed MOA, has agreed to a new contract, sources tell
@SINow
. Parameters in flux, but for now it is 3 yrs/~$3M+
Deal protects LSU from losing Brady to college asst jobs, but provides flexibility for a jump to the #NFL.

Ironclad, or an NFL out clause?

JHC...that's a f-ckin bargain!
Tepper's about to give him $6m per.

LSU extended him.

I really don't know. I think I saw a headline somewhere...
I have to think that, at minimum, the Giants are going to inquire about Brady. He's got his National Championship, and Judge is going to let him call his own plays. This is an attractive job - he gets to work with a young QB and Saquon Barkley.

I agree with you. Whether it is because they were waiting for Joe Brady and his season to end, or Jason Garrett, whose contract with the Cowboys officially expires today (January 14), I have no idea, but it is clear that something is up.
I think people can forget about Chad O'Shea, unless he is a fallback option. He was already fired by Flores, so he is available to us without restriction. If he was Judge's choice for OC, he'd already be here.
If the Giants want Brady, though, they better not mess around. He's already been linked to Rhule in Carolina, and with the performance LSU just gave in this game, his name will only get hotter. Of course, the Giants are going to have to pony up to get him, because he's got a nice extension coming to him at LSU, and you can bet Carolina will offer him plenty of money there.

Yeah, unfortunately, we really can't compete with Carolina's checkbook. There's no way any team pays an OC more than their HC, but Carolina paying Rhule that ridiculous contract has the hidden benefit of allowing them to also overpay Brady if they want to. The Giants can theoretically match any offer, but not if it makes Judge their second highest paid coach.

I agree with that statement. If Carolina wants to pay Brady $5 million per year, he's obviously unattainable. But the Giants better be prepared to go to $2 million or $3 million per year to get him. I would have to look, but those are the numbers typically paid to the top assistants. I think Garrett previously received that as an OC, and I'm guessing that he will command a salary like that now if we want him.
If the Giants want talent at OC, they are going to have to pay for it. If you want to be cheap, you'll probably get crap.
2. On the issue of Zone vs Man, I think Chris Speilman had some interesting ideas about it this season. Chris got stuck doing the Giants games frequently the last 2 seasons . That means he’s low on their depth chart of analysts , which is too bad. He has some fresh takes on what has become very stale commentary from people like Aikman.
Anyway , he was an excellent zone linebacker, though hardly fleet of foot . He said the reason why the Giants zone coverages were so shitty was because the defender would stay with covering strictly area . He felt that after the QB held the ball for a couple of seconds , the defender should change focus and stay on the guy he was covering . In other words , a match zone to use a basketball analogy .
I don’t care if a defense uses a preponderance of zone . I want it to be an effective zone . Staying Buckeye , here, Ohio St played mostly zone this season . They played it as Speilman advocated . They had great coverages . There was nothing passive about their defense.
The Giants Defense was a joke the last two seasons . Truly this season can’t be worse . My very best to Graham and the defensive staff .

Fingers crossed. I know all the buzz has been about Rhule bringing him to the NFL, but maybe Judge has connections too.
I don't think he is making $3 million/year with the extension. I think his extension raises his salary to the $1 million to $1.5 million per year range. Obviously we would have to beat that to get him from LSU.
In any event, I don't think he will be an NFL HC candidate next season. The only collegiate coordinator I remember making a direct jump to the NFL HC ranks was Lane Kiffin with the Raiders. Kingsbury made the jump last year, but he had just been a collegiate HC.

This is a bizarre post on many levels. Brady is the OC not the DC.
Secondly, have you heard some of the shit Spielman said on the Giants broadcasts at the end of the year?
He praised Bethea for having an excellent season, Shurmur for being an excellent playcaller and Ogletree for being all over the field. That shows an astounding lack of research.
