Mock drafts

Jay in Toronto : 1/14/2020 7:44 am
Might be early, but figured be helpful to have one spot to share info would be helpful.

Brugler in the Athletic (two rounds) has the Giants going with Wills at 4. He has 4 OTs going in top 11 (Thomas the third one) and 6 going in Round 1.

He has Biadasz sliding out of Round 2.
Did they give a reason that Biadasz
figgy2989 : 1/14/2020 7:47 am : link
would slip out of round 2?

I am seeing some mocks having him go int he first/early second. I am hoping here is there when we pick in round 2. He would have an immediate impact on our OL.
It was only a 2 round draft
Jay in Toronto : 1/14/2020 7:56 am : link
I did ask. We'll see if he answers.
.
He had OLB Baun going #28. I actually think Baun may have the most value, especially if we don't get an ER FA
I am not sure Biadasz has declared for the draft yet

He did a few days ago I believe. I honestly think they won't even address the Center position. Gettleman loves Halapio for some reason
If OT is target.....they must figure out how to swap picks

With Dolphins and Jaguers/Chargers
That mock
Steve in ATL : 1/14/2020 8:24 am : link
has Tagovailoa and Herbert going 5 & 6. Giants have got to trade down.

Sorry for the double post

I totally agree re trade down if we go OT.

Not convinced there is a a huge gap among the OT candidates.
Pretty sure we address the Center position this winter

No matter how much DG does or does not love Halapio, the fact that he suffered a season ending injury will force the GM's hand to find an alternative.

The end.
Haven't watched enough of Wills

But a guy that's played exclusively RT at 4? I'm not sure that I would be comfortable with that, especially since there were more talented players left on his board (Simmons).

On the flip side, I would love it if Gross-Matos fell to us in the 2nd round like he has.

and go back and look at the mock drafts from January of 2019 and then go look at the draft results from April.

Of course it's always fun to debate at any point who is getting drafted where - but no one has any clue at this point who is going where.
Love Baun, I don't see any chance he makes

it into round 2.

Of course you are right. This is just to keep BBI posters out of trouble and it's harmless fun.

My own hope is that at least one of the 'lesser' QBs wows the pants off people at Senior Bowl/Pro Day etc to put us in a better trade-down position.

The rankings will change.

This is the first mock I see him going that high. As he points out, his attraction is somewhat scheme based (but I think he'd be a fine WLB in a 4-3).

I would love to see him in Blue, esp if we trade down and have multiple picks.

I hear ya :)

I'll tell you what, I think you're going to get your wish come April.

I think that people are underestimating this year's QB crop and the amount of teams in need of a QB. I also think that the teams who are QB needy have the draft capital to make big move to get into the top 5.

If those QBs start shooting up every team's boards and DG has a chance to trade down for a king's ransom and doesn't do it- it would be a huge mistake.

He played exclusively RT because Alabama’s QB is Tua who throws left handed. Wills protected his blindside. Had Tua been a righty then Wills probably would have been at LT.
If the Giants stay at 4
Jay on the Island : 1/14/2020 11:05 am : link
Then it will likely be a LT which I hope happens. I doubt Okudah falls past Detroit. Ideally they would trade down a few spots and still take a LT while acquiring a 2nd this year and a 1st next. That or they could trade down with a team like Oakland who has two 1sts this year. The Giants are in a good spot for teams wanting to leapfrog Miami for Tua.
if Wills grades out high
Platos : 1/14/2020 11:14 am : link
i'd love him in a trade down, preferably Miami, and then another short trade down from 5 ;)
I'm also very intrigued by Wills
allstarjim : 1/14/2020 12:04 pm : link
But I haven't seen enough of him. If we have a chance at a big upgrade at LT, 4 is obviously not too high to take him.

The best thing for the Giants is that Detroit falls in love with their guy at #3 and stays put and takes a non-QB. At that point, when the Giants are on the clock, and if that happens, I do believe there will be enough incentive for teams to make substantial offers to get Tua.

But Detroit would be foolish not to explore the same type of trade down scenarios. Tua can very well go at #3, lets all just cross our fingers and toes that he's on the board when the Giants are on the clock.

Detroit can explore but if they trade down there is a 50/50 chance the Giants grab the non qb they might have wanted. Giants might see a risk free scenario where they get something from the Dolphins and still get whoever they'd wanted at 4.
My dream scenario is
WalterSobchak : 1/14/2020 4:48 pm : link
trade with Dolphins , pick up the lower of their 2nds , and swap our 3rd round picks (comp pick for Collins likely to be 98 or 99 overall) . So we gain a low 2nd and move up about 22 spots in the 3rd. I think that would be pretty fair for both teams. Jags are also an attractive trade partner with an extra 1st .
