and such a self-absorbed idiot. The worse thing that ever happened to him was the catch against Dallas. Might have wound up in the same place but his "superstar" persona really is a negative to being the best player he can be.
He gifted the whole team headphones. And it doesn’t appear to be a violation. I guess if it’s given to the school as a donation, it’s cool. But who knows with the NCAA

He gave a kid entering the draft that more than likely grew up in poverty a few hundred bucks.
If the kid was coming back next year it would be different, but he’s no longer a student athlete.
But not having to worry about what this guy is gonna do next is something to be grateful for. The lack of self-awareness is staggering. I mean truly staggering.
RE: It’s funny that you guys bitch about click bait Â
He is a Junior and to my knowledge had not declared, so he is still very much a "Student Athlete". I don't think there should be any penalty but it is stupid and likely will keep him from future post game celebrations.
Is just incredibly immature, and has such a need to be liked/make an impression... and that he incapable of understanding tact or consequences to actions.
though the implications may be different cause Lebron has no association with the school.
I read each team has a "bowl game gift allowance" for the players. that is, they can give each player playing in the bowl game some kind of gift. and that the headphones have to count against that allowance.
If he wanted to give a college kid a few hundred dollars he couldve done it without the cameras. This was about Odell being on stage - like he always needs to be.
It is hard to come across selfish when you are giving away hundreds of dollars - but somehow, Odell did it.
I feel sorry for him actually - it must be emotionally exhausting for him to constantly feel the need to be in the spotlight.
for having access to a hose to wash their car that was unavailable to the general student population. I personally think the NCAA is completely corrupt and biased and unfair to the kids, but paying a kid after a game on the sidelines is no doubt a violation of something. The school allowed him on the sidelines, so they have some responsibility for his actions.
One of my best friends was a D1 coach and my daughter is a D3 athlete and the restrictions and surveillance on their actions is pretty incredible. Compliance coordinators, audits etc. Again, I personally think the NCAA is completely corrupt and biased and unfair to the kids, but it was really stupid on his part.
Socialism would be if the players who make the NCAA millions got paid for their efforts so they didn't have to accept charity.
No, you're both wrong. Socialism would be if the government took that money from OBJ, NCAA and everyone else, took a high percentage cut, and redistributed a pittance among everyone else, and the players and everyone else would still be looking for charity, only there would be much fewer charities.
BTW, once again you guys are so naive to think these guys at major college programs aren't getting paid. They are getting money. It's just under the mattress, they are way more careful now about not having a trail. I have heard things.
played college baseball, we had a meal catered in sponsored by a local restaurant. We had to report it as a possible violation and got a letter of warning from the NCAA as a result.
and that's self-reporting something that nobody outside of bumfuck Lewisburg, PA would ever have known.
with his usual act that includes an inflated sense of his own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration and a lack of empathy for others.
Is your definition of socialism a millionaire handing out a few hundred dollars in an obvious attempt to curry favor with impressionable young men while at the same time trying to steal the spotlight from them?
LSU isn't stupid, they probably had the players give the money back. Â
If not, it is absolutely a violation (especially since the other kid isn't a prospect who's going to go pro early). It may be a minor one, but this is the ncaa, and no violation is too minor for them to make a big deal of.

We're talking about today at major college programs, not the Roaring 20's at Bumfuck Technical & Agricultural College.

Doesn't this send a message to college recruits that come to LSU and get paid? It is against the spirit of the rules if not actually against the rules. It implies play for pay.

If he told him before the game i'll give you cash if you win, its a violation
Both this and him dancing in the locker room are "me" moves.
I guess it was cool for the players. He's a massive attention whore that is for sure
"Hey look at me! I carry a lot of money!"
Me, me, me, me.
That's Odell for you.
Anything to bash OBJ...Let it go.
I doubt if he ever was.

At least he is giving back to his school.
That’s kinda the point
I used to really like him, but his act is stale.
He just looks foolish.
His Id is master to his Ego.

And more to do with, "what is Odell's deal?"

Christ. Some people just can’t help themselves, can they?
First of all, Eric owns this site. He can do anything he wants with it.
Second of all, it's not clickbait, what he posted was topical, threadworthy, and made sense with respect to the title.

Big surprise.

Should not come as a shock to Giants fans.

Oh, look -- yet another low-IQ nitwit who hasn't the slightest clue what socialism is.
As if there aren't already enough of you bozos out there...
I can sniff out a joke!!
It was a "great" one :)
And keep your insults to other Division II opponents!! We are Division 1-AA....
