WEEI, a Boston-area radio station, reporting that Brady has cleaned out Gisele's suite at Gillette Stadium and the family has moved to Greenwich, CT FWIW Lonk - ( New Window )
"NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Brady's new deal, which bumped the New England Patriots quarterback's salary for 2019 to $23 million, includes two years that automatically void on the final day of the 2019 league year (March 17, 2020).
Teams often use voidable years on contracts for salary-cap purposes to spread out the hit. This is this first time the Patriots have utilized such a salary-cap mechanism, Rapoport added."
For starters, Brady put into his contract last summer that it voids at the start of the 2020 league year (March 18) and that he cannot be hit with the franchise or transition tag. The quarterback cannot sign with any other team before March 18 and furthermore, he and his representatives cannot even speak to other teams until March 16, the day the legal tampering window begins.
With that being said, the Patriots can sign him to a new contract at any point — they have the exclusive rights to negotiate with him up until March 16.
What happens also has implications on the Patriots’ 2020 salary cap.
If Brady were to retire, the Patriots would have $13.5 million of dead money in 2020. If he re-signs with the Patriots prior to March 18, the number would be split over 2020 and 2021, so $6.75 million would be added to the Patriots’ 2020 salary cap. If Brady were to sign a new contract before March 18 and his 2020 cap hit was $20 million, it really would be $26.75 million.
If he were to sign with the Patriots or another team after March 18, there would be $13.5 in dead money for the Patriots in 2020. That means if Brady signs a deal with a $20 million cap hit with the Patriots after March 18, his cap hit would really be $33.5 million.
Essentially, he signed a one year contract last year to give him greater flexibility and bargaining power this year, especially since he can avoid the franchise tag...
I heard from a friend of someone whose kids go to school with Brady's kids that the school already knows they aren't enrolled for next year.
I don't doubt it, they are moving to Greenwich and it makes sense for his kids to go to school there. Him and his wife both "work" in NY (when he's not playing football) so this only makes sense.
But Brady is a special case, with a wife who makes a gazillion dollars herself. I'd take my chances with a HOF coach and taking a little less $ to regroup for one last shot at the big one, then get big $ somewhere like the Chargers and end up looking like Unitas did when he went there...
For what its worth

What about the one million private schools in the area?
He was looking for a big payday from NE, didn’t realize Father Time was catching up to him! Gut tells me he signs a one year prove it deal from NE
Or some dumb team signs him to a three year deal worth mega dollars!
RE: RE: RE: Brady wants to get paid apparently... Â
...so he's doing the things a free agent to be would do.
I find it surprising that he played so long for below market (apparently), but now wants to play hard ball.
Wouldn't you think he'd still like to take the reduction to help re-require some offensive talent?
Weird.
Didn't he also have a separate contract with one of Kraft's companies for consulting or PR or something?
He owns a sports therapy company located on Patriots owned land by the Stadium that does millions of dollars in business with the Pats
Does TB12 do millions of dollars in business with the Patriots?
I have seen many people write that, but never seen a source.
the only citation I have ever seen was early on that TB12 had around $1M in revenue. I also read Belichick had a falling out with Guerrero in 2017 and I think stopped the team from using his facilities removed Guerrero specifically or something vague like that. And they have two Massachusetts locations - one with nothing to do with the Patriots in Back Bay.
I saw Brady announced late last year that he and Guerrero had plans to expand TB12 out of Massachusetts.
A lot of mystery around TB12, not much fact that I have seen.
Wouldn't he be doing this anyway (cleaning out his wife's suite) Â
Don't have anyone else in place and are drafting too far back to get a top tier QB. I say they bring him back on a 1-2 year deal and draft his replacement.
This gives Tom some leverage to negotiate. Could be about things other than money like making sure they bring in some people to catch the ball in the off season something they didn't effectively do last year.
Fran Tarkenton lived in Greenwich when he played for the Giants. Steve Young went to Greenwich High School.
Other notable QBs who played for nearby Stamford high schools: Bobby Valentine was a QB for Rippowam High School. Andy Robustelli, Jr was a QB for Stamford Catholic. Andy Robustelli had a sporting goods store in Greenwich.
And Sam Rutigliano, former Cleveland Browns coach, was the football coach for Greenwich High School the year before I got there.
...so he's doing the things a free agent to be would do.

I read something a couple years ago that TB12 has free rent (It's right next to Foxboro) and that the Pats pay $200 an hour for their Therapy and Nutritional services. The article said that the yearly cost rose into a few Million. I'm trying to dig and find it.
Keep in mind, most teams actually get paid a nice sum of money for a PT company to treat them. Teams like the Bears and Eagles get some serious money for that. It's great marketing for the PT company
With the pettiness of the teams in the league and how many hate the Patriots I find it inconceivable no team has mentioned to the league office (generally thought of as anti-Patriot) to investigate TB12 as a potential vehicle for salary cap circumvention.
My guess is someone has and it's not what we think.
being a private company it's hard to know for sure.
I do enjoy watching everyone squirm over it though (not you, just in general).
Wrong...he is a free agent this March
Where is this info?

Excellent point. It is very ironic.
If there has ever been a time in his career when the organization needs to pump resources into his supporting cast, now is the time.

Is it really that unusual?
Is it really that unusual?
I would think it is something mandated in his contract, and seeing how his contract is expiring, it makes sense to clean stuff out.
I think the chances of Brady playing anywhere but NE are very slim. Where is he going to go as a starter to compete for a SB? NE is the best fit.

I think Brady thinks if he finds another team with more weapons (i.e. LA Chargers), he will make them instant SB competitors.
Is it really that unusual?
Is it common for players wives to have suites at the stadium? Sounds unusual to me to begin with, but how would I know.

Not saying he's Brady or can replace Brady in 2020, but they love him in NE.
His game results are limited, and not great, but from all the reports out of Foxboro he "wows" in practice with some of his passes.
