...the defense was horrible so:
- Draft status is irrelevant
- Over drafted/overpaid
- Only 2.5 sacks
- somethingsomething, money
- somethingsomething, stats
- somethingsomething, look at me
- Gettleman is horrible
- did I mention, look at me?
The legitimate criticism of DG is 4-12 in year 2 after 5-11. Win some games, I don't give a shit about RoY, all rookie teams or participation trophies. Win more games than last year. How about meeting that really low bar?
With Murphy-Bunting making the team. Giants could have just stayed at 37 and picked him without giving up two additional picks
But overall, it is looking like a very strong draft, Slayton and Vonnely in tone fifth—that’s good
If Jones develops into a franchise QB and Slayton into a #1 WR then this has the chance to be an franchise all time great class with Lawrence, Baker, Connelly, Slayton, Ximines, and Ballentine.
Even though he wasn’t a Giants pick I like to include Kaden Smith in the class as well.
RE: DeAndre Baker trade up looks worse and worse Â

I forgot about Smith. Excellent pick up. I have been critical of DG but this was a very strong draft. Even Baker might not turn out to be a bad pick.
Toward the end of the season; this year with better coaching he'll continue to grow. He just has way too much natural ability not to be a terrific player.
He's going to be fine. He's a rookie. CB is a tough, tough position to transition to from college to pros. Hell, Webster looked like hot trash until Buffalo in '07. Give Baker more time, better coaching, & he'll be good.
Christ. And if Minshew was a Giant you'd say he had serious questions to answer and bitch endlessly.
Actually I'd be thrilled that we got such great value out of a 6th round pick. I've got no qualms giving the Giants credit for good moves. It's just that they've made so few of them.
Sorry...I should have said the measures that matter. 300 yard games? Come on...
Minshew had a better YPA (7.0-6.5), adjusted net yards/attempt (6.44-5.38), lower INT% (1.3-2.6), and fewer turnovers (13-23). And of course, a 6-6 record as a starter vs. Jones's 3-9. And Jacksonville got him for a fraction of what we threw away on Leonard Williams...not the 6th pick overall.
Was drafting Jones a good move? I don't know. I liked it at the time...I still think he's a better prospect than Haskins or Lock. But I liked Jones less and less as the year went along. Hopefully he improves the pocket awareness and ball security, because as long as the support staff is around he isn't going anywhere.

Not a bad haul.

When they traded up, I thought they were going to draft Jawaan Taylor. I would've bet on that.

It's not PFF. It's the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA).
See the link I posted above.
So now we have two highly productive DTs who made the All Rookie Team.

Sorry, my bad /earnest on/
After the hype wore down over his moustache and outfits, Minshew wasn't any great shakes.

And I'm not sure how Minshew was better "by nearly every measure"? This is the bullshit you've denigrated to spewing to be as anti-Giants as possible.
Jones had a better completion %, better YPG passing, and more TD's in 1 less game. He also had 5 300+ yard games to Minshew's 2.
"Every measure" has been greatly cheapened here.
We know all Terps is doing is trying to poke the bear here.

Why am I not surprised? The conversation around here is just awful these days.
