Sometimes they flop, sometimes they don't. Kliff Kingsbury was pretty damn successful in his first year in AZ with a rookie QB and a terrible OL. In any event, Brady has NFL experience, even if it is in a low level role for the Saints. That is how he learned the offense in the first place.

Lol. I admit, losing Rhule to them did hurt and made me not wish them well....at first.

But then I realized, Rhule got an offer he couldnít refuse so he took it. I canít blame him and I canít blame the billionaire owner for giving him Such a rich offer. He was just using his resources he had to win the game.

We lost Rhule and now we lost Brady, another hot young mind I was hoping for. Oh well....I guess I better start to appreciate ďBoringĒ Mike Shula more because I think this may be my next 3 years.

I have yet to see anything listing the contract details for Brady. The contract for Rhule is 7 years, $62 million before incentives. I believe the contract for Judge is 5x5.

This is what I'm curious about. Tepper is an open checkbook right now and to be honest, good for him. There is no cap on coaching talent and he's going for what he feels is the best. Honestly, it feels like Jerry when he took over Dallas in 1989 and fired everyone and gave Jimmy Johnson a 10 year contract. Everyone thought he was nuts. George Steinbrenner comes to mind as well.

What I'm curious about, if Tepper blows up the salary structure for coaches, what the blow back will be from his fellow owners who won't like the precedent. But Tepper is a billionaire, and most billionaires don't make their money by giving a shit what their competition thinks.

There was a report that many owners were unhappy about the Rhule signing because of exactly what you said. Of course, just two years ago, the Raiders gave Gruden 10 years $100 million. Gruden had already been an NFL coach, so it's a different story, but I did read that the owners were frustrated with Tepper.

But guess what? Too bad for them. If you have the Giants' or Panthers' resources, use them to your advantage. Sign a coach if you think he is a transcendent guy. Sign as many scouts as possible. Build the biggest analytics division possible. Information is power, as Stefanski said today. The Giants have the money to spend to acquire that information. There is no reason our analytics department should be four computer folks.

Look, I am sure the guy got paid. There is little doubt in my mind that Brady wasn't jumping ship unless he got a nice chunk of cash to do so (and with Rhule guaranteed so much, I'm sure Brady asked for quite a bit).

However, I think Brady wanted Rhule, and Rhule wanted Brady. And Rhule went out to make it happen. There is no reason for anyone to jump on Judge for not getting Brady, because he may not have wanted Brady for his staff anyway. But if you want someone, you have to make it happen. Carolina has shown that this offseason, by not even giving the Giants the chance to get the guy it is presumed they wanted.

Right or wrong, Carolina had a plan and executed it. No, you don't win titles in the offseason. But the first steps to the plan take place in the offseason. And a coaching staff is a big part of that. Congrats to the Panthers on putting together what looks like a tremendous staff. I'd be doing cartwheels with Rhule and Brady. I'll reserve judgment on Judge and our future OC. I just really, really hope that OC is not Shula.

Monetarily, the Giants could have matched. I can't sit here and blame Mara and Tisch for not doing so, because that is a ridiculous deal to give to a first time head coach. And even though you hire Rhule with confidence he will succeed, there is no guarantee there.

I'll say this: if I had known he was bringing Brady with him, I'd have been more inclined to do what was necessary to get Rhule. Hopefully it works out with Judge.

I think there are a number of factors, potentially. With respect to Rhule, Teppers blew him away financially. Don't forget, the Panthers also gave Rhule total team control, which is enticing. The Giants have fired two coaches in four seasons. Despite being a flagship organization, coaches are wary - or should be - that they would be next. Gettleman has been reported to being a deterrent to getting coaches that we deemed highly desirable at the commencement of the search. I'm not sure why anyone should think it is only financial that Rhule - or assistants - choose other organizations over the Giants.

We don't know. Rhule undoubtedly is getting his guys, as Snow has gone with him everywhere, and just about everyone thought very highly of Brady. Judge is going with coordinators he knows. There is no way for us to know these are his primary targets. Similarly, we have not heard a peep on OC candidates, other than the Shula interview. That would be a garbage hire.

I mean he's like 30, so some players will actually be older than him. Plus his highest job has been passing game coordinator for a college team, for one whole year. He's never called plays and never been an OC. In 10 years maybe, but now we can do better

I don't think the age matters much when you consider the success all these guys in their early 30s are having as coordinators and head coaches.

Sean McVay didn't had a similar amount of experience and was actually younger than Brady when he became offensive coordinator in Washington.

Kellen Moore had zero coaching experience then went from QB coach for one year to Offensive Coordinator in 2019 and did a pretty damn good job (I understand he was a backup QB in the NFL which helped though).

Some of these guys are just naturally great offensive minds and someone recognizes it along the way and gives them a well-deserved shot in spite of their lack of experience. I'd say last night's CFP championship game and really the whole LSU season was a pretty good audition put on by the young Brady. Whatever ingenious plan Clemson took 3 weeks to come up with to confuse Burrow worked for about half a quarter before LSU figured it out perfectly and went on to put up 700 yards or something.

LSU had an offensive perfect setup this year. They had a great qb, they had a smart experienced OC that was willing to listen and incorporate a great young offensive mind into his play calling. I think it was the ideal situation for all three of them. How they all do outside of that set up remains to be seen. With another HC I can see bringing in Brady ( situations like McVay had with Gruden or Moore had with Garrett). Having Judge as HC I think you need a OC that has at least some experience as a play caller

Think higher - What would it take for the Panthers to move up to #1 overall to take Burrow? Burrow reuniting with Brady. Rhule has his guy to build his program. And Tepper strikes me as a guy who will do whatever it takes. It is a foregone conclusion that the Bengals are taking Burrow. But the Panthers can trade Cam and a shit-ton of picks to move up. The Bengals will have enough capital to still trade up ahead of Miami to get Tua.

Not disputing that. It will take a lot. I presume that Cam is not back in Carolina whether there is a draft trade or not. The cap hit/savings is the same. Just consider that he is worth something (250 pt draft value? - (Top of 3rd round for those who don't follow values)). Now the difference between #7 and #1 is a 1500 point value. Double it for a QB premium - 3000 point value. It would require the premium picks that Carolina has in this draft - #7, #38, and #69 plus Cam to match 3000 points. Is that enough? I don't think so. But if Carolina includes the above and their 2021 1st, then the Bengals should take it. They could still move up above Miami to take Tua to sit behind Cam for a season or less.

I don't see it happening but with Mike Brown you can't completely rule it out since there really is no GM that will held accountable.
If it did happen I would stay away from Trading up for Tua. Bring in a FA ( there are some decent options) and draft one later like from Fromm or wait til next year. To be clear. I think they would be crazy to trade it unless he refused to play there (which I don't see happening).

To me, the starting point is the Eli for Rivers trade. In 2004 the Giants moved from 4 to 1. They swapped picks + 3rd round in 04 and their 1st & 5th round in 05. To go from 7 to 1 is a greater jump and should include 3 picks for 2020 & 2021.

I can also see the Panthers calling the Giants and trading in front of Miami (if they haven't moved up already) to take Tua. Swap 4 & 7 and give me #38 in 2020
The only one who could ever reach me ...

He is expected to throw by April either at his Pro Day or in a private workout. He has had his history of injuries. The hip is concerning. But if the scouts can determine that he is able to move/throw the same as he did prior to the surgery, then it will go a long way to proving his viability.
