NFT: Star Wars Episode 9- The leaked script from other director

GMAN4LIFE : 1/16/2020 9:22 am
actually sounds a little better than this version.

Quote:
A massive Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker leak has revealed director Colin Trevorrow's original plans for Episode 9.

Featuring a completely different title, a radical shift in direction for Kylo Ren, and several plot beats that are galaxies away from J.J. Abrams’ vision in Rise of Skywalker, this is a Star Wars leak that has to be seen to be believed.

The information comes from producer Robert Meyer Burnett, who posted a video of himself discussing an early draft for Episode 9, written by Trevorrow – who departed the project in 2017 – and Derek Connolly. The video initially appeared on the Star Wars Leaks forum on Reddit, and later independently verified by AV Club, giving this information more credence than the usual Reddit leaks.

So, what does the leak entail? First up, Episode 9 wasn’t called Rise of Skywalker. The original title? Star Wars: Duel of the Fates – a reference to the epic John Williams score from that Phantom Menace Darth Maul fight.

That’s not the only big change. Palpatine barely features in Duel of the Fates, with his only appearance coming via holocron message. It was originally meant for Darth Vader, telling him to take Luke Skywalker to ancient Sith Master Vor Talum. Instead, Kylo heeds the message and goes there himself – but not before being wounded by the holocron and forced to have the melted down metal of a Mandalorian helmet welded to his face. Ouch.

On the side of the Resistance, Rose (who reportedly had a much larger role to play than in Rise of Skywalker), Finn, C-3PO, and R2-D2 head to Coruscant in search of a beacon that will potentially call on allies to join them in the fight against the First Order.

Meanwhile, the details for Rey’s arc are less vague – and still shifting around at the first draft stage most likely – but she does meet Luke as a Force Ghost who, himself, spends the first half of Duel of the Fates haunting Kylo Ren. Just let that image linger for a second: Luke haunting Kylo. Wow.

It all culminates in Kylo being trained by the “Lovecraftian” Vor Talum, losing to a phantom Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel (which sounds like the coolest thing ever, let’s be honest) and confronting Rey on the mystical planet of Mortis.

It’s here where things end: Kylo reveals he killed Rey’s parents – identity unknown – on Snoke's orders, and he's later “extinguished” despite the best efforts of Force Ghosts Luke, Obi-Wan, and Yoda trying to bring him over to the Light Side.

That’s only the beginning. There’s so much to cover – BB-8 stealing a Star Destroyer, Leia’s role, and Kylo’s beard – so if you have a spare two hours, it’s worth immersing yourself in the entire video. There’s even a second (unverified) leak recap on Reddit, detailing a few more specific plot points, including Rey becoming the Grey Jedi, and Rey and Poe being a thing (hmmm....). Still, it's very, very interesting to see how Disney's plan for the final instalment in the sequel trilogy changed so dramatically – and hopefully we'll have a comment from Trevorrow on the leak soon.

They lost me at Rose

I enjoyed the Star Wars movies for what they were. Entertainment, and I got my money's worth.

Interesting take on the other script. There really is a lot they can do in this universe and I am looking forward to seeing more spin offs in it. Thanks for sharing!
I don't really see..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/16/2020 9:45 am : link
how losing to a phantom Darth Vader in a light saber duel is cool. It sounds pretty absurd.

+1 on the entertainment.
The franchise has NEVER been able to deliver...

...the impact of the original film is simply unmatchable. For decades, fans have been searching for that initial rush of seeing that never-endingly enormous Star Destroyer passing overhead in the original opening scene.

For decades, Sci-Fi had teased us with fantastic plots, effects, costumes and creatures but the LOOK of this film was completely different, built off of the sort of scale modeling used in 'Silent Running', sets and scenes reminiscent of '2001', this movie blew everyone away and to my 12-year-old mind was the greatest thing I'd ever seen, period! The question wasn't if you'd seen Star Wars, it was HOW MANY TIMES??? 4, 10... 20?? My 6th grade class was TURNED ON.

And they've been chasing that high ever since, slamming Star Wars movies, sequels, prequels, no matter how fantastic or mind blowing the effects, the score, the cast are, it is and never can be good enough.

For me, there's Episode 4. I watch em' all, but I don't expect to ever get that rush again.
That sounds awful

I consider myself a star wars fan but have we ever heard that sith masters name before? People hated that snoke was a new bad guy with no backstory but are expected to be cool with a new sith master out of nowhere?

I thought Rise was fine. I was entertained. I could do without the love story part of it though. I'll go see a romance movie if i wanna see that
Iam defenitly

going to check that out ,Thanks for sharing .I saw a cast leak for Mandalorian season 2 and it looks like Bossk and Iden Versio from the battlefront 2 video game will be in it.Her back story is really cool
The problem with all of the stories about this script

Is that it was just a first draft. Even if they decided to keep it, it would have likely changed significantly before and even during production. There is no guarantee that it would be any better than RoS.
What I'm more curious about than this....
Britt in VA : 1/16/2020 10:27 am : link
is the supposed JJ Abrahms cut of the film where the force ghosts of Anakin, Luke, Mace Windu, Yoda, Qui Gon, Obi Wan, etc... were supposed to actually appear in the final scene, not just voices, but the scene was shot, they were in costume, and the actually appear to Rey in her final battle against the emperor.

+1000 Why such a bit character gained so much attention (aside from some very shady delve into politics and PC where there is none needed) baffles me.

In fact, these last three films spend too much time on bit characters that it clouds any real connection to the main ones.

I heard disney didn't want it in the film for some reason ,I hope its a deleted scene on the blu ray but we may never see it just like the rogue one stuff that was filmed before the re shoots .We only saw it in the trailers and in promo footage and products

I think Rogue One did a decent job.
As a GenX'er who outgrew SW when I hit puberty, Rogue One gave me good old SW sentimental vibes.
That sounds horrible

More new evil characters with no backstory, and more references back to the past and fighting ghosts.

Just tell the story of the characters on the screen (except Rose because she is not even slightly compelling). The last installment was good (not great) in my opinion, but certainly better than what is suggested here.
They should have had

Hopefully, Lucasfilm's hiatus from new movies lasts until they figure their shit out and begin the next one from the germ of a great story.
Some of it sounds cool

And some of it sounds like bad fanfic.

Never been able to deliver? Empire is widely considered one of the best sequels of all time, and I think is clearly superior to New Hope...
Pretty glad we got ROS instead tbh

My issue with the sequels and was also an issue in some of the prequels was the overkill of space battle CGI. There are SO many ships and explosions taking place at the same time that I'm not even sure what's going on anymore. Especially in ROS. It's like they thought "Oh, you like seeing Star Destroyers? Well here's 5000 of them all at once! A rebel armada to fight back? OK, here's 5000 more randomly shaped ships! Now they'll all fly around shooting lasers at the same time in an orgy of fireballs and sensory overload!"
also the lightsaber battles
jnoble : 1/16/2020 1:11 pm : link
Why have only one or two per movie when we can have one every 5 minutes? That surely won't water it down. YOU get a light saber! And YOU get a light saber! And *YOU* get a light saber....
lol
