Was wrong, I should have watched it, Beckham was out of line, arresting him is still kind of ridiculous, but I understand it now, I assumed he was just celebrating.
All articles I saw earlier were calling him a police officer. Now, the above article calls him a security guard but then later refers to him as an officer. If he’s a security guard, how does he have the authority to arrest him? Wouldn’t the most he could do is bring him to some holding area in the stadium till proper authority arrives?
I really did not dig that his Rae Timon to LSU winning was, as usual, to try and make the moment all about him - even at the risk of harming the program and players by handing out cash. Just such a weird attempt to Bigfoot someone else’s moment. Between his declining speed and inclining self-involvement, I’m beginning to be happy he’s gone.

This was my take as well. One what was a great night for the LSU players, OBJ did his damn best to make himself the center of the show as soon as he had a chance. Im sure he will somehow be the victim like usual though...
who was threatening the players who were smoking cigars?
Yeah, right after they won. What an asshole
I would bet smoking of any form is not allowed in the locker room. The security guy was probably just trying to do his job to enforce that.
I would agree with this except the cops came back in later and said it was okay for them to smoke the Cigars
I have no idea if they later allowed it, but the security guard should definitely tell them not to smoke if that was his understanding. Most importantly, if heaven forbid there was a fire, people would be screaming “oh how could that security guard let them smoke in the locker room” and they would be right. He was just doing his job until someone tells me that he knew you could smoke and was being an asshole.
Obj is just an moron. It is always about him. He has singlehandedly ruined these kids celebration, whether it is with the money or now taking attention away with his arrest.
However, at the same time you could also feel that whoever is responsible for charging OBJ probably made a dumb decision. I guess you don’t want a viral video of someone disrespecting authority or law enforcement, but I mean to arrest him???
Beckham spent 4 years in the biggest city in the world. The most media. The most amount of things to do in a market where you could get in trouble for in NYC with a ridiculous amount of media in NYC, and while he was a pain in the ass on the field here; he never got in trouble off the field here.
Yet, he finds a way to get arressted at the National Championship pretty much on TV.
He manages to stay out of trouble (off the field) in NYC, but gets arressted for doing something at a very high profile game with the cameras on him.
I LOL'd at that one. I notice that poster has gone silent since those remarks too.
I had to you know actually fucking work, but I get it a lot of people don't around here. I stand by my fucking statements. It's cool though because I met another fucking genius on our AI team and just fucked her brains out. But you guys keep letting the fucking police pull baby dick shit like this.
Oh and Massachussetts, the terrorists have won, its fucking illegal to JUUL inside. The state where the Boston Tea Party occurred, its illegal to fucking JUUL inside. I didn't float around the Persian Gulf for two years for this stupid bullshit police state. Freedom is dead in America. Well maybe except for Florida. it is my opinion that the police only took action once the video began to circulate. It almost forced their hand at that point to do something. I have a feeling if there was no video, nobody would know about this and therefore no arrest warrant.
What is the moral of the story? If Odell is nearby, keep your phone camera rolling... you may get something to sell to TMZ

I think law enforcement said we can’t have a video out there of contact with a cop without a penalty for a celebrity. I get the slippery slope of allowing contact on offices and I get the OBJ is a compete and utter moron, but this is one that would I would let go because people will now say “you see the police are unreasonable”
But obj is just an asshole who has no respect for any human being, be it the cop, the bandleader, the kids celebrating a once in a lifetime opportunity. I used to defend him for working hard, but he is such me first person that I am glad we are rid of him.

I'm not always the biggest fan of the police plus have been a big OBJ defender, and I don't think it fits assault and battery, but come on, how can anyone defend this? He's being a huge asshole and dickhead in the video, and it just shows how untouchable he thinks he is.
Total asshole move. He deserves to be in trouble and he deserves chargers (which I assume will likely be reduced). You can't put your hands on a cop like that (or really anyone for that matter), and his demeanor was utterly idiotic, childish, and ridiculous.
Total dumbass. He's 27, he isn't a kid anymore. Can't believe I've come all the way around on this but it's becoming pretty god damn apparent he'll never grow the fuck up.
You clearly don't understand the rules of assault if you don't think Â

If OBJ simply smacked the guy in the ass in a playful way, that is one thing. However, he wound up and smacked the guy in an aggressive way IMO. Not that it "hurt" at all...but that it was definitely NOT friendly.
Don’t disagree. My point is it’s not criminal. Hardly defending the guy. His behaviour disgusts me. Glad he’s gone despite the fact he was game changer when he was here and healthy. Guy is a complete asshole.
This should be a lesson for OBJ, but he'll never learn.
This was always going to happen. IMO the only reason charges were brought up in the first place is because there was video and it was embarrassing to the security officer.
This is basically the MO of any issue since the advent of social media. Any time there is video, it forces someone to act as a show of power; rightly or wrongly. You would hope that the right decision would be made without video proof, but the lynch mobs demand justice so people act irrationally.
Ray Rice and Kareem Hunt should have been dealt with appropriately before video leaked and forced NFL's hand. At the same time, is it worth the waste of time and effort to arrest a guy for a slapping a security guards butt only to drop the charges? Probably not, but the public video changes the math on that one.
And it wasn’t malicious at all. I think the officer needs to lighten up a bit. You’re in the locker room after a national championship win. Give me a break.
Funny, I'm the opposite. I thought it was a dumb story *until* I watched the video. The officer looked like he was doing business to me and OBJ looked like he was interfering with that. I wouldn't call it malicious, but it didn't look like the fun celebration I originally thought it was going to be.
Holy shit, you're absolutely right. I simply assumed it was a playful, celebratory things as well -- it seemed to be a safe assumption to make given the situation and circumstances, like when Toomer once high fives a ref who'd signalled touchdown. Bit after watching the video I see that's not the case -- the slap was something of an interruption while the cop was already engaged in something. And OBJ's facial expression hardly looked celebratory.
Security guard, aka rent-a-copy? No?

should n't he be OUTSIDE the locker room making sure no-one unauthorized got in while LSU was CELEBRATING?
What if someone had sprayed the cop with Champagne is that assault also ?
seriously this is the SECURITY GUARD's fault for putting himself in the middle of place he was not wanted or NEEDED.
Always someone else's fault. I don't know if you're a parent but if so I'm sure you blame your kids' teachers for bad grades/behavior too right?
Sounds like a boring Thursday night in the town I grew up in. How else is the booze going to find its way into the room?

I’m pretty sure it’s more his parents blaming his teacher.

The difference between his behaviour and that of Barkley is night and day. Both generational talents. Very glad only one of them is still a Giant.
