I think it was one of the playoff games, a player slapped a camera man or security guard's ass as he was going into the locker room and you could see the guy was noticeably uncomfortable. I'm really trying to remember who it was...
If you pay attention, athletes and coaches are literally slapping each other's asses at ALL times, and I guess when you take it outside of people involved in the sport it's obviously not socially acceptable, and that was the line OBJ accidentally crossed in a moment of elation.
What's this about you breaking a rake and throwing it in the woods?
I didn't *break* it, I was merely testing its durability, and I *placed* it in the woods cause it's made of wood and I thought he should be with his family.
someone who has worked in law enforcement for almost 20 years, I have never and will never let anyone touch me in that manner. You push me, you get cuffed. You slap my ass (happened in 2008), I cuff you. Let the judge figure it all out but I am not going to stand there and get disrespected. The lack of consequences to those that do these things coupled with the lack of action by today's Law Enforcement is what birth's things like water dousing of Police Officers in NYC etc.
Tommy, your proposed reaction makes some sense. Set the limit right there on appropriate behavior around and directed at law enforcement personnel.
My gripe with this is that WASNT DONE ON THE SPOT. Issuing a warrant for whatever after the fact is a fucking joke and a waste of public funds.
Not to mention, it's not a good "look" for any of the parties involved.
slapping the cops ass isn't assault. It was like good job buddy there ya go. The cop was hassling them because he is a needle dick nerd that was bullied by guys like him in HS, and then Odell didn't like it so he slapped his ass because he thought he could get away with it. Shit is assault.
Now if I were cop I'd want to drop this shit to go away as soon as possible because its a terrible look. He just got bodied by a bunch of players and now they want to bring more attention to a very embarassing look if you are the cop.

I'm saying "accidentally" because I really don't believe he was trying to break the law and be some trouble-making horn-dog creep that some may make him out to be. Don't get me wrong, it was stupid, but I guarantee you there was zero sexual implication to this whatsoever and I doubt he ever thought there would be any sort of consequence from it. I really just am imagining him being inebriated and going around slapping all the players' asses (as literally everyone else in that locker room is likely doing) and then just seeing some cop and doing the same thing.
I wish I could find the video from this past weekend of a player doing that to one of the security guards in an NFL playoff game. I just can't think of what game it was right now... I'm surprised no one else has thought of it in relation to this.
I’ve always wondered about the parenting of some of the kids Â
I see doing stupid things like smashing mailboxes, stealing Christmas decorations, spray painting yards etc. and based on some of the posters here and their acceptance of this type of behavior I guess it shouldn’t surprise me. Society seems to have lost touch with what it means to be respectful of others and their property. But hey yeah it’s just Odell being Odell. He’s misunderstood and really really passionate...

I agree.
Just keep your hands to yourself. Just because the cop is a guy doesn't mean you are entitled to touch him wherever you feel like.

He didn't accidentally cross a line and when he slapped that ass it was not about celebration or elation. It was to humiliate and disrespect.
This is rightfully going to cost OBJ one way or another.
Since when is it okay for anyone lay their hands on a police offer? I have no problem at all with the arrest warrant.
For those of you knocking the police officer, shame on you.
Shame on us? Everybody looks like shit here. This is what happens when you hassle people for stupid shit. Things can escalate. Often when things happen like this there are two guilty parties. Its when you get two assholes together, the problems occur. One its one asshole and one normal person usually the rational normal person walks away or lets things slide.
Odell managed to get a team investigated by the NCAA and get himself arrested.
Nice work.
I’m sure there were other former LSU players at the game too. But we don’t know who, bc there’s only one obsessed with acting out so everyone pays attention to him. Not the players who actually won the fucking game, in this case
My gripe with this is that WASNT DONE ON THE SPOT. Issuing a warrant for whatever after the fact is a fucking joke and a waste of public funds.

They did Beckham a favor. Dragging him out of the Superdome in cuffs a half hour after he was giving out hundred dollar handshakes on the field is the ultimate bad "look".

I don't think that's what happened. I think he did it intentionally to insert himself into whatever was going on between the cop and the player. He wasn't slapping everyone around him and got the cop as part of that.
Just watched it, I see the deal now. Yeah, that was pretty stupid. I was mistaken.
All that said, I would like to find the clip of the guy who was headed into the locker room and slapped the security guard (or camera man's) ass from this past weekend. I was imagining it being something like that.
Since when is it okay for anyone lay their hands on a police offer? I have no problem at all with the arrest warrant.

The guy was just doing his job. There is only one guilty party. Laying hands on an officer is never okay.
What the hell was the cop harrassing them about? Â
Jesus Christ. He should literally only be there to make sure that no fans/outsiders get into the locker room who shouldn't be there. He was literally getting on some player for something that was in his gatorade bottle it looked like? What a fucking loser.
RE: And for everyone saying cop was being a hardass Â
Some people on BBI will defend OBJ no matter what. It’s actually sad.
He slapped a cop on the ass while the cop was trying to do his job (whether you think what he was doing was over the top or not is irrelevant). Then after smacking him on the ass, danced and mocked him in front of his face.
I’m surprised he didn’t get cuffed on the spot.
Yawn. And if this was a member of the current roster, some of the folks jumping on OBJ would be defending said current member, so can your protests.
I think the cop was letting it go until the video came out and then either he or someone higher up decided they needed to make an issue of it. No doubt everyone in the process feels like they have better things to do and this will all quietly be put to bed at some point down the road.
As for the "novelty" money, it's SEC football so LSU has absolutely nothing to fear from the NCAA; its statement is fodder for the sports reporters nothing more. Besides, there was no need to hand out "novelty" or real money to players; LSU has professional boosters to do that, and no doubt OBJ was a beneficiary.
RE: RE: RE: Why would anyone take issue with this? Â

The guards at Aushwitz were just doing their jobs too. Doesn't make it anymore reasonable. You know how miserable life would be if you got a ticket everytime you jaywalked you got a ticket. Going two miles over speed limit ticket. Its called discretion, and a job like police officer requires a ton of it. If not find another line of work.

Holy shit. Where the fuck is this thread going?
Yeah, I've defended OBJ in the past but this is plain stupid Â
so was handing out cash to the LSU players, but you could at least bend that one a little (they were no longer athletes since the game was over, or making a statement about the inequity of NCAA sports, etc.). This - this is just dumb.
He's been doing more and more stupid shit. At first, I thought it was part of some social media act aimed at increasing followers and promoting his "brand" for increased revenues, but now it really looks like the guy has just gone off the rails and needs someone with half a brain to guide him back to something resembling normal.
What difference does it make why the cops were there? Or that they were a killjoy in regards to the players celebrating. That has ZERO to do with the issue at hand. ZERO.
I’d like to see what some of the people actually defending him do if they were out somewhere and bent over to pick something up and some dude you didn’t know slapped you on your ass like he did and then you turned around and he did some idiotic dance in your face. I really don’t think you’d be “ahh it’s no big deal”. Bullshit. And this situation is a cop on duty! Not good.
Would it have made a difference in anyone’s eyes if the cop was female? It shouldn’t but just think about that. How would you be reacting now? And again, it should not be any different how it is handled. But a lot of you who are defending him would see it differently if the cop was a female. And that should not be the case.
Guards at Auschwitz were just doing their job too? Â

It was clearly not a joyfull celebratory ass slap.. it looked as if it was even meditated..
It totally was. If you watch closely, OBJ taps the LSU player sitting off to the side right before he does it as if to say "hey watch this". Then he slaps the cop. Then he taunts the cop by dancing and making his hands into guns and sings "get the gat, get the gat, get the gat..."

Listen what Odell did is inexcusable, but he did it because the cop was being a dick. And if the cop was female? Yeah if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. Whats your point?

Cop was being a dick so you can just do whatever you want I guess. Is that what you’re saying. Ok then.
Laying aside my bias as someone in law enforcement, Â
what kind of idiot do you have to be, in today's society, to walk up to and smack a cop on the butt and not expect some sort of repercussion? Hell, if you're going to smack anyone's ass, you better be able to read a room.
If you pay attention, athletes and coaches are literally slapping each other's asses at ALL times, and I guess when you take it outside of people involved in the sport it's obviously not socially acceptable, and that was the line OBJ accidentally crossed in a moment of elation.

I don't get it. It's been insinuated on this thread that this is some indication of a civil war being instigated.
I'd counter that if that's true, the instigating is being done by those that want to further blur the lines between bad behavior and breaking the law.
:)
how is this hard to understand. this is all on OBJ.
