But is the person breaking this buzzer stuff “beltrans niece” or jomboy or both? If the fake niece is breaking stuff isn’t that account also implicating the Yankees or was that a different fake niece account. (I am beyond confused). Also who the hell is jomboy and why does he have inside information?

Jomboy is one of the Twitter superfans, he does a podcast too. He was the one who broke down videos of the Astros banging on shit before breaking pitches

You say it like betting on his own team isn't a big deal. I hope you do realize how bad that is.

If he did only bet on his team what exactly does that say to his bookie on the days he didn't bet? I know if I had that info I sure as hell would be betting on his opponents on those days.
I didn't think much of this until i saw this

MLB looked to come down hard on them if they found out they were lying. The players had a huge incentive to just tell the truth. 60 or 70 players were interviewed, so they had a large enough group that if someone didn't tell the truth, they'could come down hard on them based on so many other player interviews.

That's the workaround with the MLBPA. The coverup is worse than the lie. We've just seen this with Domingo German lying about DV allegations. That is why Carlos Beltran was the only player named in the report. It is coming out he lied to the Mets in private as well.

So we are led to believe Cora and Beltran were the ringleaders. Hinch and Luhnow had the power to stop them, yet did not. Crane gets to walk away clean as the owner of the whole mess.

Carlos Beltran was the only player named because he is no longer part of the MLBPA.

Commish is a fraud and scared of the MLBPA

He should be scared of MLBPA. I'm not sure how to approach punishing players for sign stealing that would be confirmed by the FBI, not thrown out of court, and/or result in a union grievance handled by an arbitrator.

If you think it is bad now, imagine the headlines about a sign stealing case being laughed out of court, or the arbitration cases being kept confidential yet leaks get out.
Pete should be in the hall as a player

Since you've got an in with the Mariners - ever hear anything about Trout like what Scott Brosius' son was saying, that he uses HGH legally by claiming a thyroid condition?

HGH is not used for any thyroid condition.

I want all of this garbage handled behind closed doors. In the age of rabid social media that seems virtually impossible and the game suffers as a result.

I would LOVE to hear from Verlander though.

.

You see with Justin, he is very good at offering up unsolicited opinions,
last year was about the baseballs for example.
Actually that was the second year in a row he complained about them, you see even though he won the CY Young,
he did allow the most HR's in the AL last year I believe. The previous year, he allowed a lot of HR's as well,
so it is SELF-SERVING for him to open up his yap!
You won't hear unsolicited opinions now, when he is asked
in ST or whenever, he eventually will talk.
One more thing...
Carson53 : 1/17/2020 9:02 am : link
time to get electronics out for hitters between at-bats
as well. A lot of hitters use that, I know J.D. Martinez
does that a lot, part of his process.
He's a great hitter, so I am just using his name as an example.
They can do it after games or the next day,
but not during games now is the way MLB should go with this?

Instant replay is here to stay, so I guess they are going
to have to allow the video guys to check for instant replays on challenges by the manager.
It is the 'holding up the hand' crap by managers,
to have people wait around that should go as well IMHO.

To add to this, I "know a guy" that has been a part of both NY organizations, as well as other teams in the league, and he had actually mentioned the Trout HGH stuff several years ago. He didn't say it was related to a Thyroid condition, but did say that there was a supposed medical reason that he was taking it.

I had actually kind of blown it off as bullshit/forgotten about it, but kind of interesting to see that someone else has heard the same from probably a completely different source.

MLB is an ebarrassment. But, I never expected anything to happen to players. I hadn't thought of Beltran being the only retired player and thus the only player mentioned by name. My opinion will not change if the Yankees are implicated. Guilty players should have some form of discipline. So should willfully knowing executives.

It's unconscionable that the players were part of these cheating scheme, and reaped the benefits, are not being suspended.

So what if the MLBPA is the most powerful union on earth. BFD. You still have to go after them. What's happened here is essentially preferential treatment.

They are basically the high school kids who got a copy of the SAT, benefited greatly, but avoid trouble because they weren't the kids who actually stole the SAT test and answers.

It is such horse manure...

of what-about-isms. That video of Altuve crossing home plate and protecting his jersey is going to keep getting replayed. Jack McDowell is calling out Tony LaRussa for stealing signs over 30 years ago. Mike Trout is going to end up having to give a "no comment" on HGH use. You have people throughout the baseball community asking for all involved to come forward. I don't think anyone disagrees that the players involved need to be punished.

This isn't going away. Wait until the season starts and Astros home games focus on the visiting team's dugout, the pitcher on the mound, and players on the field for reactions to home runs or basically anything. That is when this is really going to get fucked up.

I was just going to say the same thing. I’ll tell you what though, if the Yankees were cheating they absolutely sucked at it. Most of the team struck out like it was their job and most of the time they looked like they’d never seen a breaking ball before. Compare that to the Astros who somehow went from a strikeout heavy team in 2016 to having incredibly good strikeout ratios in 2017. Just one season and the turnaround was astounding. Team wide.
Yeah, the big storyline after that ALCS
bceagle05 : 1/17/2020 6:30 pm : link
was the Yankees striking out too much while the Astros put the ball in play. The baseball purists were waxing poetic, and understandably so (at the time). What a bunch of frauds.

It shouldn't go away until every player from those Houston teams is suspended. And if that means Houston ends up this season with mostly minor league players this year, so be it.

I find it incredible that people buy this bullsh-t that Manfred is selling that he couldn't name players.

What a message - we caught you cheating, players, but just keep playing and collecting those big checks.

MLB continues to embarrass itself.

Throw in how they went from one of the teams who struck out the most to one who struck out the least in one season and it's clear as day how much they benefitted from this.

The picture is wrong for Altuve (not bothering to check the rest). He hit .311 at home and .381 on the road in 75 or more games in each split.

No idea where the reported splits on this post are supposed to have come from but it’s not the 2017 regular season..

Pictures splits didn’t even look possible for the full season.

Looks like this are for the 2017 playoffs. Not sure how much to take from such a small sample size. Certainly the full season splits didn’t sho much in the way of a home bias. Here the link to the article I found but I can’t get playoff splits on baseball reference, so I don’t know where I could get the data to confirm it.

and Altuve and Bregman are there. If you thought you'd get remorse from them, that's not happening. They are both complete pricks. Altuve in particular saying he "feels bad" for Hinch and saying they are going back to the World Series. Defiant in the face of facts that MLB found them (and with him a major player in it) guilty in 2017 and I'm sure more about 2019 will come out.

Anyway, the Astros will set a record for most batters HBP this year. You are going to see guys bury pitches in his and Bregman's ribs. They are trying to play the underdog role, which doesn't work when no one likes you because you fucking got caught cheating. Their first trip into Yankee Stadium is going to be like the Christians to the lions.
