Obviously hypothetical but...
Could Jason Garrett As OC Bring Amari Cooper With Him? - ( New Window )
Not paying someone that is so injury prone

Seemed to be less than ideal too. I would take a hard pass...

Agree, money better spent elsewhere like on Yannick and Conklin
Wasn’t Cooper underutilized and angry?

"#1 receivers" are as big a misallocation
Capt. Don : 1/16/2020 6:52 pm : link
Of resources as people perceive running backs to be.
Shouldve written "Elite #1 receivers."

I'd pass on Cooper. He's a very good receiver, but not worth what

he'll get.
Lets hope not

When last seen...
DieHard : 1/16/2020 7:13 pm : link
Cooper was coming up small before getting taken off the field in a do-or-die situation vs the Eagles, and complaining about the offensive scheme afterwards. So I wouldn't say it's likely.
No
Toth029 : 1/16/2020 7:58 pm : link
Thanks.
There a a bunch of receivers we could draft
Reale01 : 1/16/2020 8:14 pm : link
If it was considered a 2020 priority.

I don't think we will spend a lot of resources on WR this year unless the value in the draft is just too high.

I suspect the resources (Priority FA and Premium Draft Picks) will be spent on OL, ER, LB, S/CB.
Yeah, let's pay a fortune for a WR
BillT : 1/16/2020 8:24 pm : link
Heck, with the edge rushers, OLs, ILBs, and safeties.
Comical
Soundtrack : 1/16/2020 9:01 pm : link
Every regular season people cry about the OL while begging for skill position players in the off-season.
If he..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/16/2020 9:37 pm : link
is just going to bring him, that sounds pretty cheap!!
Draft another Slayton
upnyg : 1/16/2020 10:00 pm : link
and use the FA money on an OT and Edge player.

I'd rather they draft OL and develop them.
No thanks
SirYesSir : 1/16/2020 11:06 pm : link
he's a talented wr, but has lots of stretches where he vanishes due to lack of health or lack of interest.

love to have him, but not for the money he's gonna cost
I really like Cooper's game...
bw in dc : 1/16/2020 11:25 pm : link
but we can find other WR solutions, and at fractions of Cooper's projected salary.

Pass.
A #2 who wants #1 money and disappears for long stretches
KWALL2 : 1/17/2020 12:15 am : link
You want to pay for that? No thanks.

Spend it on lineman. Please.
I've always thought Cooper was incredibly overrated
Leg of Theismann : 1/17/2020 4:21 am : link
People sometimes mention his name as though he's one of the top 5 WRs in the NFL. I don't even know if he's in the top 30. Undersized, yet doesn't have blazing speed, decent hands but nothing amazing, doesn't do any one thing super especially well. Disappears for long periods of time. I mean he would be a fine #2 but I would never want to pay him #1 money. I just don't understand the appeal, if I'm gonna pay a guy #1 money who is undersized he better damn well have track speed or crazy good hands or just be an amazing route runner. Cooper is/has none of those things. Bleh.
I think we need a big-bodied WR with wide catch radius
Leg of Theismann : 1/17/2020 4:28 am : link
who also has just enough speed to scare defenses a bit. Basically I'd like to find for DJ what Eli had in Plax early in his career. Tee Higgins comes to mind as a possibility, but I'm hesitant to spend the #36 overall pick on a WR when we don't have a 3rd rounder and have so many other glaring holes all over the place.

Enter: Denzel Mims. From Baylor. He's about 6'3" 220, does a nice job of using his wide catch radius to his advantage against smaller DBs, and is a former track athlete who can outrun DBs. Based on draft boards I've seen around, I honestly think we may be able to get him in the 6th round just as we did Slayton. I'm not even sure why he's flying so far under the radar, he is a fantastic player IMO. I'd even take him as early as the 4th or 5th.

By the way, the only reason you need to draft Mims...
Leg of Theismann : 1/17/2020 4:32 am : link
just fast-forward to 2:38 in that video I just linked to! Trust me
Sorry to keep harping on this guy and getting off topic
Leg of Theismann : 1/17/2020 4:41 am : link
but some of these routes I'm watching Mims run (when they focus in on him on the replay) are just so smooth and precise. I'd just seen this guy on a few Baylor games this year and he stood out to me on several plays, but this is the first I'm watching his full highlight reel... ... full bloom I tells ya.

Klaatu : 1/17/2020 7:04 am : link
I've seen Mims projected to go anywhere from late 3rd Round to the 6th Round. If he runs well at the Combine, I'd say 3rd Round is more likely.

Best comment I've read about him was from one guy on DraftTek: "He's got a catch radius as big as Mars."
No he was
mdthedream : 1/17/2020 8:22 am : link
injured and couldn't run his routes. He is always injured at sometime during a season not worth what he is going to get paid.
the guy went off last Thanksgiving
WillieYoung : 1/17/2020 9:21 am : link
because the Redskins couldn't tackle. Most over-rated WR in football. Hard Pass
Agree with Willie

His Coach is in Carolina, I dont think he will last till the 6th round. I think the lowest you will see is the 4th. If he gets to the 5th and Carolina doesnt take him you have to wonder about him.

That was a diamond in the rough grab .... those are lucky finds ... cant bank on those ... see Jerry Reese drafts as evidence.

Oh Reese had his fair share of diamonds in the rough. You may remember a running back by the name of Bradshaw that we got in the 7th round out of Marshall.

Yup but as you know trying to run the draft on this is not going to work as shown by the spot we are in and Reese fell in love /w this method.
