Cooper was coming up small before getting taken off the field in a do-or-die situation vs the Eagles, and complaining about the offensive scheme afterwards. So I wouldn't say it's likely.
People sometimes mention his name as though he's one of the top 5 WRs in the NFL. I don't even know if he's in the top 30. Undersized, yet doesn't have blazing speed, decent hands but nothing amazing, doesn't do any one thing super especially well. Disappears for long periods of time. I mean he would be a fine #2 but I would never want to pay him #1 money. I just don't understand the appeal, if I'm gonna pay a guy #1 money who is undersized he better damn well have track speed or crazy good hands or just be an amazing route runner. Cooper is/has none of those things. Bleh.
I think we need a big-bodied WR with wide catch radius Â
who also has just enough speed to scare defenses a bit. Basically I'd like to find for DJ what Eli had in Plax early in his career. Tee Higgins comes to mind as a possibility, but I'm hesitant to spend the #36 overall pick on a WR when we don't have a 3rd rounder and have so many other glaring holes all over the place.
Enter: Denzel Mims. From Baylor. He's about 6'3" 220, does a nice job of using his wide catch radius to his advantage against smaller DBs, and is a former track athlete who can outrun DBs. Based on draft boards I've seen around, I honestly think we may be able to get him in the 6th round just as we did Slayton. I'm not even sure why he's flying so far under the radar, he is a fantastic player IMO. I'd even take him as early as the 4th or 5th.
but some of these routes I'm watching Mims run (when they focus in on him on the replay) are just so smooth and precise. I'd just seen this guy on a few Baylor games this year and he stood out to me on several plays, but this is the first I'm watching his full highlight reel... ... full bloom I tells ya.

His Coach is in Carolina, I dont think he will last till the 6th round. I think the lowest you will see is the 4th. If he gets to the 5th and Carolina doesnt take him you have to wonder about him.
That was a diamond in the rough grab .... those are lucky finds ... cant bank on those ... see Jerry Reese drafts as evidence.
Oh Reese had his fair share of diamonds in the rough. You may remember a running back by the name of Bradshaw that we got in the 7th round out of Marshall.

Yup but as you know trying to run the draft on this is not going to work as shown by the spot we are in and Reese fell in love /w this method.
Oh, you can pay him, just not too much.
Agree, money better spent elsewhere like on Yannick and Conklin
I don't think we will spend a lot of resources on WR this year unless the value in the draft is just too high.
I suspect the resources (Priority FA and Premium Draft Picks) will be spent on OL, ER, LB, S/CB.
I'd rather they draft OL and develop them.
love to have him, but not for the money he's gonna cost
Pass.
Spend it on lineman. Please.

Best comment I've read about him was from one guy on DraftTek: "He's got a catch radius as big as Mars."

and use the FA money on an OT and Edge player.
