folks forget how badly Dallas bitch-slapped us in the two regular season games that season. It made the playoff game that much sweeter.
Make sure to watch to the end

the first game that season if I remember, we lost 45-35 but there were very encouraging signs re: our offense and Eli.
the drive led by Eli at the end of the first half

No one around here was feeling "encouraged" after either Dallas loss.

Supposed to win the super bowl that year. I think people forget how big of a favorite they were. Does anyone remember the Doritos commercial that ran all season? A bunch of cowboy players were hitch hiking through the desert. Jerry Jones pulls up in a car and says, “where are you going?”...they say “super bowl”, he says, “get in”...and they drive away. That commercial pissed me off all season!

Eli was supposed to be out for 4-6 weeks after that game with a shoulder A/C separation.
I'll be honest, that game was great but if we played them 10 times
BestFeature : 1/17/2020 10:33 am : link
They'd win 7. They outplayed us most of that game, significantly.
The drive just before half

was one of the greatest of Eli's career
Jerry leaving each player

two tickets to the NFC Championship game at their locker really pissed me off. Some extra motivation and made the win that much sweeter!
I said all along that this game was my SB.

Beating Dallas in Dallas in the playoffs would have made the season a success. Everything else is the cherry on top. And I think the drive at the end of the 1st half is one of the most important drives in recent Giant history.

Dallas scores with under a minute to go up 14-7, and had all of the momentum. Eli takes them down the field in 50 seconds for the tying TD. If they don't score there, I don't think they win.
out of the 8 playoff

games in the two super bowl runs, this was the only game I felt we were lucky to win.
The drive before halftime

I think Coach Coughlin also deserves some credit. Some coaches would've been more conservative and not gone for it with just 47 sec. They may have tried to get into FG range, but TC, Gilbride and Eli went for it and I think that 7 had to take some steam out of the cowboys heading into the locker room.
The Cowboys were the much better team that year
arniefez : 1/17/2020 10:46 am : link
Thankfully Jerry ran off Parcells or Dallas probably would have won multiple Super Bowls with that team. If the QBs swapped sides that day the Cowboys would have won by 3 TDs. The Giants were out gained 336-230 TOP possession was 36:30 to 23:30 for Dallas. But Eli was brilliant when he did have the ball and Romo choked under the pass rush in the 4th qtr.

biggest play of that drive IMO was a facemasak penalty on Dallas.
Amani Toomer was a star that day with 2 TD's
RobCrossRiver56 : 1/17/2020 10:56 am : link
His fist TD, the catch and spin down the left sideline for the score was the first moment where I actually thought we had a chance. I had no clue we had a Super Bowl run brewing.

Loved this game obviously
Jints in Carolina : 1/17/2020 11:02 am : link
but my favorite playoff game that year was the Green Bay game.
That team was really easy to hate.
j_rud : 1/17/2020 11:05 am : link
I mean even for a Cowboys team. Something about Patrick Crayton made my blood boil.
That is such a good vid

Thanks for posting that
Wasn't that the game they had to carry Toomer off the field because

Definitely, TC showing faith in Eli and his offense was critical.

Ah thats right. You are correct.
I WAS THERE!!

One of the best games I've ever witnessed live. Watching those Cowboys 'fans' slump down and walk out of their own stadium, dejected, was just the greatest thing.
nothing better than seeing Jerry on the sidelines.. stunned
