Former #Cowboys HC Jason Garrett has agreed to become the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants and first-year head coach Joe Judge, per source:
Its good. He was a good offensive coordinator. Thats why he ended up getting the HC job. He's motivated and has something to prove, that's a good thing for us.
besides a good offensive mind, it's a good sign that Judge is able to land quality assistants. In hindsight one of the red flags on McAdoo was when he couldn't get Philbin or anyone else noteworthy to be his OC and settle on Sullivan.

When Jason Garrett left the #Giants building, it appeared Garrett and Joe Judge were on the same page about working together. Garrett wanted to check with his family. A few days later, the Garrett family is in, the #Giants have a new OC and an old friend is back in the NFC East.
We got a guy who went 85-67 as a Head Coach to be our offensive coordinator.
If Romo didn't get hurt in 2015 he's probably closer to 92-60 career record. They started off 3 and 1 that season and then Romo got hurt. They won 12 games in 2014 and 13 games in 2016. So I'm guessing they would have won around that many with a healthy Romo.
It's nice to have that kind of experience on the coaching staff and he should help Jones quite a bit between his coaching experience plus his time in the league as a player.
I wonder if the Linehan interview still happens or if that Â
was a fall back option in case Garrett decided he didn't want it. Maybe Garrett figured he better give them an answer before he lost the job. Or maybe they are interested in Linehan for Passing Game Coordinator. He worked in that capacity for Garrett before. Ironically both he and Garrett worked on Sabans staff at one time.
Garrett values the run and if he brings Callahan and/or Kinehsn we instantly have one of the best coaching units on O in the entire league that instantly gives us an inside advantage over Dallas in scheme.
Garrett has 4 winning seasons, 1 season at 500 and 1 losing season. If Romo doesn't get hurt he most likely has 1 season at 500 and 5 seasons with a winning record. Even if the Cowboys won 10 games the year Romo got hurt than Garrett would have a 62-34 record.
but I don't particularly care for Garrett as an OC. His offenses were always really bland IMO and were heavily dependent on the talent level in Dallas, especially along the offensive line.
On the positive side, I can't remotely argue with the success Tony Romo and Dak had under Garrett. This bodes well for Daniel Jones. In addition, I think the style of play lends itself to the idea of complimentary football and taking pressure off of the defense simply by possessing it more.
Garrett has something to prove and definitely wants to be a head coach again. No better way than succeeding with the Giants.
(I talked myself into it by the end of my own comment.)

The #Giants have landed OC Jason Garrett, a big hire for Joe Judge.
I pinned bluepepper's and deleted yours, but then bluepepper deleted his.

Have a feeling Judge might like that too.
Also happy I can stop compulsively checking BBI for this news
Agree
Positives
Has been a top coordinator in the past
Works great with qbs
Has significant experience as head coach and been successful in the division.
Negatives
Some will think this was forced on Judge by the FO. He was possibly recommended, but this was Judge’s call
Some will confuse his performance as a head coach as negative indicator as a coordinator
What system will he run?
Good / SMART hire.
