Former #Cowboys HC Jason Garrett has agreed to become the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants and first-year head coach Joe Judge, per source:
But none of that matters anymore. He’s here to be our OC.
I’m excited about his experience.
His being a part of building a foundational OL.
He seems like a first class guy well equipped to handle the transition to coordinator, even though I have a feeling Judge will lean on him a lot in year one.
Hopefully Callahan next.
Great hire.
I have some concerns mainly about how he will utilize Saquon Â
I read Wednesday talked about how Garrett holds the Giants in high esteem and it pissed off the Cowboys front office, always addressing the Giants as the New York Football Giants.
And I really like that he was willing to take a job with Daniel Jones as his QB. This is Garrett’s shot at redemption and he is signing on with a rookie QB he just coached against in the division. Not something he would do if he was worried about the kid’s prospects.
especially if Callahan comes along. It was a long time ago for both but since they both got their first real jobs under Saban, hopefully there's some alignment in how they operate (Judge/Garrett).
It appears to me that Judge went through a legitimate process and the OC slot clearly made sense for a guy with HC experience. I'd have preferred Gruden and viewed him as a more likely fit with Callahan and more creative, but Garrett isn't all that different. Both won in the the NFCE a decent amount, both with difficult org structures.
This has the chance to be an outstanding coaching staff. Judge is obviously going to allow Garrett and Graham run the show on offense and defense. Judge can focus on leading and building up this program into his image.
2 - He knows how to utilize a TE in the passing game.
3 - If he can have success with Dak Prescott, then he can have success with Daniel Jones.
4 - He helped put together one of the best OL's in recent memory OR was at least in the room when the Cowboys drafted a all-pro Offensive Tackle, a all-pro Center and a all pro Guard. He can help us identify the guys we should target to play on our OL. He knows what kind of traits they should have and what they should look like.
5 - He knows every fucking thing there is to know currently on our biggest rivals.
I could keep going because there is so many reasons why this is a good hire but I'll stop right here.....
Says as much, or more, about coach Judge as it does about Garrett. This is another positive as far as I’m concerned. This team will be measured by wins and losses, as every team is, but I have nothing but positive thoughts about this hire.
Welcome home Jason Garrett, we’re thrilled to have you here with the Nee York Football Giants. Go Big Blue!
I've wanted to see what Garrett might do without Jerry Jones looking over his shoulder. I just didn't think that would happen with the Giants.
Outside of the game itself, I think Garrett might be able to give Judge advice in dealing with the media. He's been on the hot seat in a major market, whereas Judge comes from an area where fans are convinced his team can do no wrong.
Hes developed alot of talent on dallas. Coached up undrafted Romo and 4th rd pick Dak, Cooper was a night and day difference on Dallas vs Raiders, Gallup has emerged, the Oline. Etc.
And a bonus is he comes with a bunch of inside info about Dallas. It wouldn't be surprising if Dallas stalled his firing so that the Giants could fill their coaching vacancies with other ppl to avoid that inside info reaching here.
This is an outstanding hire by Joe Judge. Garrett had the ability to beat the Philadelphia Eagles nearly every time they faced each other, something the Giants haven't been able to do on a regular basis in a decade.
I'm pretty sure through the advice from JG the Giants may finally be able to beat the over-rated Eagles.
JG will probably also love facing his former team and beat Jerry's team!
Really wanted to see this happen.
Can’t wait to see him shoving our guys on the sidelines after big plays. Used to drive me nuts. Now I’m all about it. Welcome home JG!

I have to imagine that Garrett will want to get some pay back

I am hopeful that JG can help him find those guys.

Jones next year: 33 td, 13 int, and 5 lost fumbles
Yeah, I always liked Garrett, calm and collected. This is a good hire.
Patience....
Now if Graham can take the next step in establishing himself as an effective coordinator we have the makings of a quality staff.
One more huge hire will be the OL coach. Callahan was fired from Garrett's staff following 2014. Was that jerrah's call or Jason's?
not fair, Engram is already a fraction of Witten
Or Graham. They always do it all at once, this is typical of them.

announced either Garrett or RB coach Burns?
Patience....
Grasshopper: "yes, master"

I get that, but until that time, do we take all these "hirings" as fact or with a grain of salt?
First, he'd have to figure out how to play against the Giants' defense twice a year.

Again, they have announced NO ONE except the head coach.
Man to this day it pisses me off when we let him go
