The Garrett’s coming full circle with the NY Giants

BigBlueDownTheShore : 1/17/2020 9:24 pm
Jason’s father Jim was a fullback for the NY Giants in the 1950s and served as the Defensive Coordinator under Alex Webster in the 1970s. Not the best time in NY Football Giants history.

Ironic that all these years later that Jason is coming here to hopefully restore the franchise as the offensive coordinator.

I wish Jim “Coach” was still around. He and his wife were great friends with my grandparents and would spend time with my family during Thanksgiving when Coach retired. They would always try to get my family to root for the Cowboys when we had the game on. I wish Coach was around so we could finally all root for Jason together.

his father passed away only a year or two ago. He would have liked this.

He was a great guy. He helped send a bunch of players to the league.

He would work out all these players in his back yard and players from all over the country would come to work out.

It was really a site to be seen. You’d have local high school players working out with NFL hopefuls.

Jason would be there from time to time. He helped send tons of players into the league. Miles Austin was a Coach find and a TE on the Giants around 20 years ago (Barnes I want to say who also I think played for Tampa) got his try out with the Giants because of Coach.

I don’t know how many people in here realize the number of lives of young men on the Jersey Shore Coach helped get into colleges to play.

I really like this hire for obvious personal reasons, but I think it’s really a great thing for the local area for all the young men that the Garrett family helped for free out of the goodness of their hearts.
Don’t know if this is true

But my mom knew Garrett’s Dad, even went to kindergarten with him and continued to see him occasionally 60 years later. About fifteen years ago my mom told me that the Garrett family once owned the land that Met Life is on.
Let's not

get overly dramatic by using language like "restore" the franchise. The Giants were 11-5 before these past three losing seasons. Yes, we have had a rough stretch, but we won a couple of Super bowls not that long ago. Try living through 17 years without ever sniffing the post-season and you will understand what it truly means to "restore" a franchise. Half the teams in this league should be so fortunate as our poor, deprived fan base.

That's a great story that none of us knew...Love it!
