Welp...we are guaranteed a Sunday night opener.....

Jolly Blue Giant : 1/17/2020 9:45 pm
Seriously, what are the chances we are NOT opening Sunday night in Dallas now that Garrett is the OC? If you are traveling to the game, you may as well book your hotel now.
Oh no...

we've been told that it's completely random!!!! /s
Yup.

And as we've seen in previous years, even if Garrett didn't sign with the Giants, it'd be Giants/Cowboys in Dallas Week 1 regardless. The hard-on the NFL schedule-maker has for that match-up in Week 1 in Dallas is unlike anything I've ever seen before. It was 99.9% certain before Garrett signed here. Now it's 100% certain.
Lmao!

I was just thinking this and said it out loud. Refreshed BBI and you had started a thread on it. Weird
I was thinking about this earlier in the week.

Dallas vs. Green Bay might be an opener as well. Nah, it'll be the Giants again, you can book your trip to Dallas opening week. It will be Dallas vs. Green Bay on Thanksgiving.
It's annoying

But honestly opening in the division on the road can be a great opportunity. If you win you've banked a big one early and if you lose, so what it's week 1 and you were on the road. Pressure is mostly on Dallas in that scenario.

It's just unfortunate that we've been so unprepared and downright bad lately.
It wouldn't shock me if we end up playing the first game

In the Rams new stadium and opening the place They are one of our opponents next year. The league would like it because you have the two largest TV markets and the Rams would be happy because they would likely be solid favorites.

The NFL never hides the fact that they want this matchup week 1. The schedule is generated after certain predetermined variables are added. They make sure week 1 has the biggest draws on Sunday night
If ESPN can pry Romo to do MNF

Can't rule MNF out either.
It would be nice if the game was in our house, but Jones will try to

make sure that doesn’t happen. He wants his new HC to look better than the Giants.

I never feel like we are totally prepared game one on the road. Especially with our young team with new coaches....it may take some time to gel and to get on board what they are being taught.
At least the game has been a decent barometer

I liked it when we had a veteran team but it’s almost a guaranteed loss with a young team.
Highly doubt it

that I worked with a group of consultants from McKinsey a few years ago and they had worked with the NFL to feed in their data to maximize viewership in the schedule based on a variety of factors (weather, competition from other sports, availability of stadiums, etc). Invariably the numbers play out for the Giants to open in Dallas early in the season. I asked them to tweak the algorithm at least one time so I didn't have to see the Giants start in Jerruh world and give me a break. They laughed but I don't think they realized I was serious ;)

That said, yes, I'd expect that Giants to open with Dallas.
