Is there anyone not more excited about Giants football today

Ivan15 : 1/18/2020 9:09 am
than they were 3 weeks ago?

I might even sit through the first 2 college all star games today.

I am looking forward to player analyses from some of casual and serious scouts out there.
Lol....absolutely

If we land a proven OL coach, that will seal this deal for me. Then, on to free agency.
Absolutely

The months between January and August are typically when the Giants convert themselves into a playoff contender on BBI...
definitely -

Garrett a great get for OC. Graham, we will see. But the arrow is pointing up.
+1
Andrew in Austin : 1/18/2020 9:18 am : link
Heck yeah! Such a different emotional feeling of hope. Glad we moved on from the last set of coaches.
F*ck yeah

C'mon. Playoff contender? More like NFL dynasty.
FA and Draft are Key
Sammo85 : 1/18/2020 10:02 am : link
Need to add several key players this offseason to do more than fill holes but build a short term core at least and have them win and grow together, especially on defense and have the lines finally built up well enough.
Sure

there is always hope when the garden is turned over and new seed planted.

Then comes the summer when the crop wilts under the heat, the crabgrass starts to take over and the bugs chew away at anything that comes up.

I am waiting until the crops come it to get excited.
When they get better on the roster
Ten Ton Hammer : 1/18/2020 10:06 am : link
I'll be more excited. Coaching moves done excite me.
Of course
UConn4523 : 1/18/2020 10:07 am : link
what’s the point of following the team all year and not get excited about what’s transpired?

Quit being scared of sucking, enjoy the hope.
My hope:
Big Blue '56 : 1/18/2020 10:12 am : link
1-Parity league where Niners can be 4-12 (Yes Jimmy G was out) and a year later, 60 minutes from the SB. Their young guys developed. We have young talent, esp. on the back end. Hopefully new coaching and maturity kick in.

2-A healthy SB and a second yr. of DJ (with Garrett and QB coach)

3-FA and the draft position we enjoy
No
djm : 1/18/2020 10:22 am : link
I haven’t been more at ease with this franchise lately than I am right now.

I know I’m a bit of an apologist but I’m also fair and balanced. I defend things because I don’t always think assigning blame and punishment is the right course of action. I’m speaking about DG, mostly.

I never liked the shurmur hire but got behind it because what choice did we have. I love this hire because the guy just oozes excellence. He communicates well. He’s got a plan. Doesn’t guarantee anything but it sure bodes well. We’ll see.

I don’t even care about the 2020 regular season as much as I care about FA, the draft and camps. I suggest everyone learn the word patience. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but I believe we’re finally on the right path.

We need to take whatever strengths we might have
djm : 1/18/2020 10:32 am : link
And turn them into definite strengths. Barkley is a weapon. Forget all this crap about draft value and whatever else. He’s ours. Every team would love to have the guy. He’s a Giant. Build the line and offense into a unit that accentuates Barkley. We drafted Jones high. He’s got talent. He works hard. The giants need to do everything they can to foster his growth. Eliminate any possible excuse or points of failure. If we are sitting here 2 years from now conjuring up excuses for jones or Barkley then the giants failed them. Jones and Barkley won’t fail the giants. I firmly believe that.

Listening to judge speak and address things in such an concise and thought out manner gives me a lot of hope. I can’t wait to see this unfold. When we win again, it’s going to be a lot of fun.
That PC was a tell to me
BestFeature : 1/18/2020 10:37 am : link
I've been all in on Joe Judge since the press conference. His IQ, EQ, and attention to detail were all on display and then some during that PC.
Absolutely!
exiled : 1/18/2020 10:43 am : link
I was gonna start a thread like this myself. This change at the helm seems so much more exciting than either of the other two coaching changes. I’m pumped!
We'll see.
mittenedman : 1/18/2020 10:47 am : link
I am hopeful that Judge is the real deal but he is a complete unknown, most of us had no idea who he was a few weeks ago and now we're hoping he's the HC of a great staff.

Patrick Graham? Same thing. The Dolphins were fine letting him leave.

I am hopeful and I think the coaching staff held the Giants back big time. But I'm not feeling better until these guys show they aren't in over their heads.
Like what they are doing.

Jimmy Googs, I don’t always agree with you, but I grin at every one of your snarky comments. Keep ‘em coming.
You guys that need to wait until games star
UConn4523 : 1/18/2020 11:18 am : link
to get excited for the season sure have a long, long way to go, haha.

We are seeing a complete 180 (or close to it) from how we’ve been doing things for years. Hard not getting excited about that.

The Judge hire was different. What else are you talking about though?
Not as excited as I was before they hired Garrett

Gettlemans still at the helm...

I doubt we are better then 5-11 in 2020 . I am not bullish on our prospects . I will keep expectations very low , if by some long shot we are actually good it will be a pleasent surprise for me. This franchise has been a dumpster fire since 2011 minus 2016.
I definitely am

Nothing against Pat, but was anyone excited about his hire?

Then again, I did think Bettcher was a good hire, so you never know.

But I do have a feeling that the Giants have finally turned a corner.

abeyance until midway in regular season. I’m tired of ups and downs based only on expectations of new Giant “Messiah”. I patiently wait for second coming of George Young.

I’m talking about the Judge hire. If you buy into his hire then you have to also buy into the guys he’s bringing on.

I just find it weird to not be excited.

Former HCs that enjoyed even a modicum of success typically make good coordinators after being a HC. Garrett earned at least some faith.

I really liked the Bettcher hire. I guess those cards teams were really all Bruce Arians. Or maybe betcher was just victimized by a brutally bad and young arsenal of talent. He sure didn’t help matters here.
...
christian : 1/18/2020 5:15 pm : link
I'll be excited if the Giants add more talent to the offensive line, WR group, and linebacker group.

Being as bad as the Giants have been isn't solely a coaching problem. The Giants need a lot of talent added. Otherwise Judge is in a bad spot.
Wow... the Giants marketing spin machine seems to be working here...
EricJ : 1/18/2020 5:24 pm : link
as usual. Selling hope for the next season.

Look... right now this is the same team that just finished near the bottom of the league. The roster is the same and most people here were saying we lack the talent to compete.

Therefore, while we can get encouraged by a few coaching changes, we have the same players AT THIS POINT who need to play light years better.

So.. slow your roll and lets see what changes are made with this roster first please.
September and October this season

Will be rough, guys. Brace yourself. The coaching plan will be very different and the players will need to learn. This is a new beginning.

I'll go with this. HC that literally nobody else wanted but an annually 25-40ish ranked CFB team and a no name DC from a franchise that is worse than the Giants the last decade. I'm happy Mr. Excitement is gone but can't get into any better than "wait and see" mode over these hires. DG is still here and we still gave up our 3rd round pick to overpay for a good/solid DT. Lastly...this team needs so much of a talent infusion, I'm not sure it matters.

But, even so, you'll can tell if on right track. If so, then can see change for better you get excited. I relate to the 1984 season and few other times

What a crock!!! Your post is full of it if it wasn't so laughable. You're one of the most extremist posters that changes the narrative when it comes to DG on this site.

I can recall when I spoke of Darnold during his rookie year I said he was a lock to be a good QB. Regardless if anyone thinks whether I was right or wrong I made this comment during the time of his rookie year in which there still was a lot of talk that DG passed on the QB. Yet you and one of your other posters changed the meaning of what I said and criticized me for calling Darnold to paraphrase a "transcendent QB." I never said transcendent but you twisted it to that.

Just as when I made a comment about drafting a RB with the 2nd pick - I think there are questions about that but I felt Giants did a poor job getting an OLINE (the WR's are decent enough but could be much better ofc). And I used Barry Sanders as an example that I felt Detroit didn't give him the help he needed to win more offensively. Offensively they didn't surround him with enough talent. He needed more help. SO you responded that I was shitting on Sanders.

Juts like you blew off my comment of Darnold being "good" you felt a need to change my comment to saying I said "transcendent" and in this case all I was saying is SB needs more help just as Detroit should've given Sanders more help. But this doesn't matter to posters like you because I'm shitting on your hero DG.

You gotta love it when a poster declares himself to be "fair" as if his opinion is the only "fair opinion." Coming from a big time DG apologist to boot.
