Carl Banks is fired up

Eric from BBI : Admin : 1/18/2020 9:41 am
Carl Banks @CarlBanksGIII

I cannot wait to see (healthy)Evan Engram in this Garrett offense! This will be so exciting watching his talents in full bloom. Jason's track record with TE talent is ... #GiantsPride
One can only hope
Boatie Warrant : 1/18/2020 9:43 am : link
One EE stays healthy and two Garrett can get full potential out of him. Would be nice
I am more excited to see Kaden Smith in this offense
Rjanyg : 1/18/2020 9:44 am : link
Since he can also block.
I would just like to see EE
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 1/18/2020 9:47 am : link
go 4 games without being injured.
Indeed should be interesting
SCGiantsFan : 1/18/2020 9:51 am : link
to see where EE will move around and be flexed out or maybe in the backfield.

The real interest is K Smith, being he can block inline. Let hte opponent have their focus else where and send K Smith up the seem and etc...JG does know how to make use of TE's, as we are well aware of.
A healthy EE

The comments under that tweet are pretty funny. Especially the one that says, "thise 9 games Engram plays will be 🔥". Well played
I can't wait to try and trade Evan Engram
Optimus-NY : 1/18/2020 9:59 am : link
We'd be lucky to be able to do that for anything at this point since he can't stay on the field and couldn't block my grandma's corpse.
Thanks Optimus

As I'm eating my bagel and cream cheese, you got me thinking of your grandma's corpse
I think we need to trade EE...
EricJ : 1/18/2020 10:06 am : link
and stick with guys like Smith who can be solid run blockers and also effective in the passing game.

We do not need one dimensional players. Carl should stick with defense

Crap, didn't see this post before mine. Derp.
Engram should be a WR
Earl the goat : 1/18/2020 10:10 am : link
He would be a major matchup problem for corners
I know itís not happening but he gets beaten up at TE due to his lack of size and strength

Wish I could share his enthusaism
BillT : 1/18/2020 10:46 am : link
EE isn't a TE nor is he a WR. That's the problem. It's always some kind of compromise when he's on the field. Hopefully Garrett will have some new ideas.
Healthy,

thatís funny.
Having a HOF TE on your roster
Bubba : 1/18/2020 10:52 am : link
sure makes your TE plays look good too.
Wonder who the TE Coach will be
TheWalrus : 1/18/2020 10:57 am : link
Would have liked Lunda Wells to stick around. The only other offensive assistants we have been linked with have either never coached TEs or in the case of Freddie Kitchens haven't coached the position in 8 years. Linehan nor O'Shea have ever been a TE coach. The Cowboys TE Coach from last year, Doug Nussmeier, is sticking around Dallas as their QB Coach.

Kitchens or perhaps Judge's old friend Will Hall would be interesting. Probably an unknown guy though I'd think at this point.
Hope they trade EE
Tark10 : 1/18/2020 11:00 am : link
Why can't this organization draft a fast big tight end who can block and catch? Bavaro was great. They seem to like "tweeners". Travis Beckum was one. That failed, now Engram. I would love to see them draft a Witten, Kelce type.
I'm not sure Engram is a great fit in this offense
AdamBrag : 1/18/2020 11:03 am : link
The offense has traditionally required the TE to block well and find soft spots in the zone. Engram is not good at either. I think he might be better suited to line up as a WR in this offense.
Shepard, Tate and Engram all work best on the inside. Who plays

EE cant stay healthy....that is prob not changing.
I think it's more likely hes traded than anything.
j_rud : 1/18/2020 11:05 am : link
Dallas has used the very traditional 2 way TE over the course of Garrett's time there. Would be great if we could recoup tje 3rd rounder with him but thats probably wishful thinking.

People are too stuck on defining people and putting them in defined roles. Kaden Smith is a decent TE and ok blocker. He was good for us down the stretch. Engram is not a typical TE. And guess what? In NE, they designed their O around two TEs when that was their strength.

No, Kaden Smith is not Gronk, and though Engram does have a similar skill set to the murderer. Guess what? Judge was there at that point, and he saw that. The offense is not going to succeed if we sit there and line Engram up as an in-line TE. It just won't. That is not what he is, not what he was drafted to be. We have failed in recent memory because we do not play to players' strengths. I hope that changes under Judge.

Would seem to be perfect mindset for getting the most out of EE.
I've lost faith in Engram...
Torrag : 1/18/2020 11:18 am : link
I won't believe he can last an entire season now until he proves it. Feet and leg injuries are problematical in this game.

You recall our new HC stressing the importance of "multiples" (systems), figuring out ways to attack weaknesses of opponents, and finding out and utilizing the talents of players and what they do well?
Garrett didn't need a TE

I'm still not sure it wouldn't be a good idea to shop Engram.

used sporadically. Partly to keep him healthy and fresh, partly to put pressure on the defense, even if only in long-yardage situations. We need to be much more creative in our play design until our O-line improves.
Carl may wait a while...

Sneakers O'toole : 1/18/2020 1:12 pm : link
when Garrett's name started getting floated out there. This could be a huge opportunity for him in a year he is going to need. I think many of us see the writing may be on the wall for Engram if things don't work out for him in 2020.

He seems to also have a case of the dropsies in contested/semi-contested catches. Not good from a TE.

Yes, it is great to run different systems. It does not mean you roll with one dimensional players who have glaring weaknesses that the opponent can attack. This is not a system thing with Evan Engram. He actually LIMITS the systems or plays we can run when he is on the field.

When you bring in players that are limited to certain types of plays, it tips your hand to the opponent on what you will LIKELY run on the next play.

From Dak to Daniel (upgrade)
From Zeke to Saquon (upgrade)
From Witten to Engram...

Engram's first 3 seasons: 34 games, 153 catches, 1766 rec yards, 12 rec TDs.

Witten's first 3 seasons: 47 games, 188 catches, 2084 rec yards, 13 rec TDs.

Safe to say... IF Engram can stay healthy, which is a big IF... he could even be an upgrade perhaps in the passing game.

JG! Help DG fix this OL please!

WTF don't we draft or acquire a two way TE. it has been years.
TMS : 1/18/2020 4:43 pm : link
Engram is a tall possession receiver like Plaxico. Who gets hurt a lot. Hope Judge changes this philosophy.
The ironic thing about Engram is that, while he's neither
GeofromNJ : 1/18/2020 4:48 pm : link
a WR or TE, he's productive when he's healthy which is not often. In games where he doesn't seem to be a factor, I often think that he's playing hurt. Maybe he'll never be healthy enough for the NFL.
Guys that get hurt a lot while young and up n coming
djm : 1/18/2020 5:26 pm : link
Can and will stop getting hurt. Thereís no pattern. Guys that are healthy their first 2-3 seasons all of sudden are done 1-3 years later. Plenty of Guys like engram who battle injuries their first few seasons all of sudden stay remarkably healthy the next 3-4-5 years. You just never know. What we do know is Engram must have earned a lot of good faith since heís still here under two different regimes. Iíd think this new staff will give him one more go.

You canít compare Engram to Travis Beckham, cmon. Engram can clearly play at a high level.

Also, heís a TE. Heís not a WR. He also blocks well enough to stay on the field. Heís not the in-line blocker but he can do the job ala Tony Gonzalez or others. You pair him with a good inline blocking TE and youíre offense is set. They might very well have both guys in the fold. Try and tap in.
You can't talk about plans with Engram,
