Chad O'Shea to the Browns

YANKEE28 : 1/19/2020 8:34 am
He will be the receivers coach and passing game coordinator for Stefanski.

O'Shea and Judge worked together for years and it was thought that O'Shea would join the Giants after he was just fired in Miami as their OC.
Between Garrett and Tolbert there wasn't really a spot for him

Only position he's coached since the 1990s is WR.

O'Shea was actually on the Vikings staff in 2006 and 2007 with Stefanski.

There was a passing game coordinator in Dallas at one time. I wonder if they had considered that for O'Shea or Linehan, the latter performed that role in Dallas.
Based on the
YANKEE28 : 1/19/2020 8:46 am : link
current list of Giants hired coaches under Judge, none have been recently fired.

Garrett's contract expired, 2 current coaches Judge got permission to interview, and he is moving Burns from an Administration position. Plus he has kept 2 (possibly 3) from Shurmur's staff.
Have the Patriots hired a WR coach?

Surprised O'Shea didn't go back to New England

Perhaps after what happened in Miami he figured that if he did well outside of New England it would do more for his career potential. Not to mention that Landry and OBJ offer a heck of a lot more than he would have in New England.

I was wondering if that's what the Giants were interviewing Linehan for. Isn't that interview suppose to happen this weekend unless they were considering him for OC if Garrett didn't want the job and now have no interest.

All good points. Who knows? The original tweet made it sound like it was for a lesser position. If so, I would think the interview was still held. But there were reportedly two other teams in the mix.

The Giants really have plugged up leaks or the reporters have gotten lax. Or a combination of a bit of both.

could also be because Judge is not jumping on the merry go round and riding the "regular" coaching carousel.

The Senior Bowl and attendance by most NFL coaches in Mobile Alabama will start Tuesday.

The Senior Bowl is also a place where many coaches aspiring for an NFL coaching job will be present and will likely be seeking out Coach Judge in hopes of an interview.

I am sure Judge is at Giants headquarters going 24/7 on this right now.

But don't be shocked if this drags into Senior Bowl week. The hirings Judge makes will have a huge impact on his success. A thorough process beats a rushed process.

Frankly, I am expecting some real surprises, just like we saw with our new running backs coach.

Good point, but looking back at Dallas that role only existed for one year when they didn't have a true offensive coordinator, as Bill Callahan had that title taken from him and changed to "Run Game Coordinator" to accommodate the arrival of Linehan. I very easily could be wrong, but the only teams I've seen use those terms didn't have a true offensive coordinator or it was in addition to a position coach title.
Passing game coordinator ...

The 1 position the esteemed Joe Brady held at LSU ... LOL.

Certainly possible the staff isn't fully set yet. But I think they have to announce something before a bunch of unofficially-announced new NYG position coaches are spotted at the Senior Bowl practices sitting with Judge and our coordinators.
We also

have 4 teams still in the playoffs.

Judge could be waiting on some current coaches on playoff teams.
