Tannehill couldnt hide anymore and it showed. Bring on the Packers, hopefully. Want to see 2 top QBs go at it.
Rodgers isn’t a top QB.
yea umm ok.. he's only the most gifted player at the position from his elevation to starter until Mahomes entered the league. If you don't know that, you don't know football.
Winning in the NFL is not about running the ball and stopping the run. Once you've controlled for injuries, it's about:
1. Making chunk plays on offense (for most teams this is throwing the ball; for Baltimore it's also running the ball with the quarterback)
2. Limiting chunk plays on defense (Belichick has understood this for years, focusing on limiting big plays and using red zone defense to turn TDs into FGs)
3. Turnovers
If I had to set a goal for the Giants in 2020 it's to get Jones's YPA up above 7.5. Along with turnovers that well correlate most to wins, IMO.
i mean they know the game is over if they don't fake it
Like Romo said... even if you play for a fake punt, i.e. drop guys back instead of rush the punter, there are still holes there you can exploit, just like any defense, you just have to find them. Simply "playing for a fake punt" does not automatically mean you're going to stop a fake punt. Just like "playing for a pass" on 3rd down doesn't mean you're necessarily getting off the field.
didnt play the ball? He actually made contact with the under thrown ball
defender has right to ball too and has position on underthrown ball and was in trail position of WR, he did turn back too and made contact with the ball
I love Spags for 2007, but his entire reputation is almost entirely based on that one season. He had 2-3 of the worst defenses in the HISTORY of the entire NFL... we are talking record-breaking bad. (Don't blame that on lack of talent).
The KC defense this year? This like the 1999 Rams, when their defense was highly rated but it was because everyone got one dimensional against them because they couldn't keep up with the Rams offense.
Titans panic just a little and get away from Henry and this is what happens. That play by Mahomes at the end of the 2nd half is really when you saw the Titans style of play change. Mahomes clearly scared the shit out of them. It's what the Chiefs do I suppose.
I mean they werent going to keep up just pounding the ball. The only way their model works is when they can stop the opposing offense.

You fail to mention how much NFL offenses have changed in that time frame as well.

That discounts 2 top 5 defenses (08 & 16) which were has actual two best years.
Super strange career, with a few really good and really bad years.

yea umm ok.. he's only the most gifted player at the position from his elevation to starter until Mahomes entered the league. If you don't know that, you don't know football.
He’s most certainly a top QB. He played basically the entire season save for a few games with his top WR and the replacement WRs might not have started for the Giants.
Name all the QBs that threw for 4,000 yards over 25 scores and turned the ball over as little as he did. I’ll wait.
I've give you 2008 and 2016, but I don't think we Giants fans remember him for those two years. I think we loved his personality and we loved that 2007 team so much that we glorify him a bit too much.

The thing with Spagnuolo is if you give him good players, he can give you a great defense. If you give him mediocre or worse players, all bets are off.

I think he's both a high maintenance guy and coach. He needs things to be really right, or he really underperforms.
He blew it in St. Louis and he blew here in 2017. I give him a pass for New Orleans because the org was a mess.
But reality is the guy has a chance to coordinate 2 championships.
But how much of the the 2019 KC defense is similar to the 1999 St. Louis defense? You know who was the defensive coordinator of that team? Peter Giunta. Remember him? That Rams defense finished 4th in the NFL. But it really wasn't THAT good. It was rated that good because everyone fell so far behind the Rams.
KC , Reid, Spags etc. 60 minutes away from a possible repeat of SB #1, where tickets were six dollars. And possibly the first State Farm Bowl. Niners look tough to beat ....
Tannehill couldnt hide anymore and it showed. Bring on the Packers, hopefully. Want to see 2 top QBs go at it.

The Packers ran way above expectation this year. Rodgers had an OK year but he was hardly exceptional and the Packers skated by on an easy schedule.
He plays safe. Safe is ok if you’re a game manager.
I never want Andy Reid to win anything but I have a near genetic programming to despise the 49ers. I also don't like Rodgers he's a discount double checking douchehbag.
I guess Reid is the lesser of three evils right now and I do like Mahomes. That kid can ball.

That's true.
But Spags improved the Chiefs defense into a top 10 scoring defense jumping from 24 to 7, while their offense actually took a small back.
If this was primarily about their offense, why were they so bad last year with a better offense?
I don't watch a lot of Chiefs football, but the games I've seen the past two years is the other team usually can't keep up with them or they panic. Even last year, it reminded me of the 1999 Rams.
I'm repeating myself but the 1999 Rams were nowhere near the 4th best defense in the league but they were because other teams abandoned their balance against them.
Why was their defense so bad last year? I don't know but it's a pretty big indictment on that defensive team.
What I'm saying here is that Spags is in a pretty good situation.
Spags has had success when his starters play, but it is mass confusion when they have to rely on depth
This is not really all that true, either, and last week the Chiefs had several of their top defensive players out against the Texans, including Chris Jones.
The reason why Titans lost had way more to do with their inability to stops Chiefs' offense - simply too fast for the Chiefs and Titans lacked dynamic pass rusher.
Titan slaso needed a plan B - they should have known that Chiefs would stack the line and focus on Henry.

Everybody has been stacking the line against Henry and he's killed them anyway. Have you seen the Titans play this year? You don't think the Ravens were doing that? They were. Henry was just still hurting them against 8 and 9 man boxes AND Tannehill gashed them on play-action because the OL held up on protection.
In this game, the Chiefs were better than the OL, and Henry was more limited, and they were able to get to Tannehill enough times and made enough plays to limit the damage Tannehill could do over the top.
The Chiefs defense is A LOT better than people here think.
Titans lacked creativity when Henry could not run. They've improved on defense and a re a pretty good defense - but best in NFL not veen close. despite what Clark the woman beater claims

I'm not agreeing with Clark. They do not have the best defense in the NFL. But several on BBI continue to believe that it's just Mahomes and the offense that is the sole reason they are in the Super Bowl. Mahomes deserves a lot of credit and they wouldn't be in the Super Bowl without him. However, they are missing some really good play by the K.C. defense. They stopped Henry when few have been able to this year. It has nothing to do with lacking creativity. It was matchup football and K.C.'s defense manned up against Tennessee and that big, bad OL of the Titans was beaten. The secondary ran with A.J. Brown and Davis. The Titans ran into a team that could actually stop Henry with the loaded boxes, again, other teams were doing that, Henry's longest run against Baltimore was against a 9-man box. Baltimore couldn't stop Henry, New England couldn't stop Henry, and these were supposedly superior defenses. Well, K.C.'s defense did stop Henry.
Then, when they went play action, the Chiefs' secondary held up in coverage and got pressure on Tannehill (5 passes defensed, 3 sacks). And the guy that not a lot of people are talking about is Tanoh Kpassagnon. He had a really good day against a good LT in Lewan.
Again, this defense is better than what people believe. They are really good up front with Kpass, Jones, and Clark. Tyrann Mathieu is playing really well right now, Sorenson at the safety position is playing very physical, this is a team that is hitting and tackling, playing tough at the point and they are getting after the QB.
They are not a liability as some on BBI want to believe.

his hand even hit the ball
Only 1 timeout left and the league has yet to overturn one PI call, doubt they were going to now
didnt play the ball? He actually made contact with the under thrown ball

Sorely missed
Based on one season?
The Giants have had a top 5 defense 4 times in the last 20 seasons, 2 were under Spags, and they won a Super Bowl in another season.
The best defense the Giants have seen in this era was under Spags. The wild part is the worst defenses this team has seen have been under him as well.

they are going to lose now anyway, and the profile 100% helps. You have to challenge that. Big mistake by a good coach

There was actually a clear hold on the play. Who cares when he threw the flag.

They can't even say it was for another penalty because they would have announced 2 penalties on the play
I believe Spags still holds the NFL record for the worst NFL defenses.

Well if it's thrown prior to the hold that is indeed an issue

Oh is Spagnuolo their special teams coordinator?
Btw, I thought some of you guys said Henry was going to run wild on the Chiefs? Didn't happen.
Some of you said the Chiefs on defense couldn't handle the
Titans OL, turns out it was the other way around.
Coach Spags is one win away from being a two-time Super Bowl winning DC. Love Coach Spags!
This is not really all that true, either, and last week the Chiefs had several of their top defensive players out against the Texans, including Chris Jones.
But facts are he comes on board, the offense is less good, and the defense is demonstrably better.
