Rodgers didn’t win more Super Bowls?

Considering he had Rodgers in his prime with better weapons, yeah that’s still true IMO.

This Packer team overachieved this year. They really weren’t very good outside of the first month when their defense was playing really well. But Seattle got pounded late with injuries and Minnesota was average so it wasn’t surprising that they made the NFCC. The big surprise was the Saints.

Do non-Shanahans just not understand it or something?

This is exactly what Daddy Shanahan's teams did. And it didn't matter who the running back was.

They dont have a 1st round pick at a skill position. Their OT are 1st rounders but their guards were random guys they picked up. They are playing their backup center.

is all by himself on the sideline. not talking to coaches, not talking to players.

Call me crazy but I think this team doesn't want to play for him anymore.

Crazy. He’s arrogant and tough to like, but they are playing in the NFC Championship with mediocre talent in significant part because of him.

Significant part??? Rodgers has been average all year

surprisingly its hasn't been Rodgers, its been Aaron Jones

Glad we aren't one of them

its not him its the offensive line, hence why Brieda, Coleman and Wilson are also successful rb's in this offense

Mostert is the very definition of a system back. He may be a bit better than a jag but he is no way a top-10 back talent-wise. Maybe not even top-20.
This is on par with our 41-0

He was inconsistent whil here and never quite met expectations following his rookie year. He's since gone on to play well for SF and anchor a line that run blocs exceptionally well despite being known for doing his best work in pass pro.

So how much of that can be attributed to a coaching failure on the Giants part?

It has been my belief that MOST (not all) of our OL issues were related to coaching.

Just think about this for a minute...
Look at all of the draft picks and free agents over the past 6 years. Can anyone truly tell me that NONE of these guys are NFL quality players? Hey.. we did not like Reese and many don't care for Gettleman... but even a squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Throwing a dart at the board would have resulted in at least ONE of the guys playing well. This is why I really believe our coaching has been the primary issue.

I mean, you look at Solder, Remmers, and Zeitler. All 3 were legitimate starting offensive linemen, come here, and all 3 immediately look terrible. I could see one of them falling off a table, but all 3?

Also Hernandez was better day 1 as a rookie than he was at the end of last season. For the record, Ereck Flowers was better as a rookie than he was afterward.

Meanwhile guys leave and improve. We've talked about Richburg. DJ Fluker starts in Seattle. Flowers was a serviceable G in Washington this oast season. Marshall Newhouse filled in in a pinch for NE, a LT no less. I'd include Pugh but he wasnt awful here. Not a first round pick but lets be honest, he screamed "need pick".

Im not saying these guys have left and set the world on fire, but they've been better than they were here. Im really hoping they get this figured out because the complete and utter inability to field a competent OL has been the backbone of this teams failure for nearly a decade.

McCarthy was there 12 years. They had a 1 year gain this year. Lets we how it goes a little longer. McAdoo was 11-5 his 1st year which was a 5 game improvement over Coughlin..

Running games in todays NFL
MookGiants : 1/19/2020 8:45 pm : link
are built upon a great line. Running the ball is still a huge part of todays NFL but the Giants went upon building a great running game backwards. Using the most expensive draft capital there is on the position makes no sense on any level. You could put Manny in CA in the backfield for the 49ers tonigth and he'd run for 150.

Giants line is basically in the same spot it was when Gettleman got here. Laugh out loud bad.

49ers built this thing the right way. Showed patience, but put their draft capital into the correct areas.

Watching these teams today the Giants are light years behind the top teams as far as roster constuction.

Yea where was he for 2.5 quarters? GB gets the ball too.
And Rodgers was terrible the first half
twostepgiants : 1/19/2020 8:46 pm : link
The fumble was one they would accuse Jones of having no pocket awareness on as it was poked out if his hand on what could have been a big play. A bad pick that set up a SF score. He fumbled the snap that

He was a huge part of them being down 27-0.

Well he was named 2019 NFL Executive of the Year. But the decision to bring him and Kyle Shanahan in was pure genius. Big gamble in making a color commentator General Manager but boy has it paid off.

49ers really needed leadership after the Jim Tomsula/Chip Kelly years.

Good scouting, good coaching, good scheme = low investment costs on the RB position.

Dave on the UWS : 1/19/2020 9:22 pm : link
SF running scheme takes advantage of what their personnel CAN do not what it can’t (sound familiar. The OL players they have, the skill players all for what they want to do. The sum of the parts is frater than the individuals. This is what Judge was talking about.

they let Raheem Mostert set a franchise record rushing the ball on them in an NFC championship game no less

The 49ers had hall of fame and all pro RBs in their history and none of them ever ran for as many yards in a game

Didn't Aaron Rodgers say "The better team lost" (or something like it) after the Giants kicked their asses in January 2012?

be to hard on Rodgers. It is very difficult to QB two championship runs. Very hard to win a conference title game on the road against a tough physical defense too.

Very hard to do, cut through the best of the NFL to get to the promised land twice. Very few special QB's have done it.

I agree. I think Mahomes is the X-factor in SB LIV. He won't only be the best player on the field, he is best player in the LEAGUE, bar none. A guy who has that much talent, physical ability, awareness, competitive spirit, combined with just being a flat-out gamer... does not come around often.

I can't wait to see that KC offense square off against this SF defense, but again, I just think when the chips are down Mahomes is the guy you want, and that's why I'm picking them to win.

Should be a fantastic Super Bowl.
Why does Kyle Shanahan always sound like he's out of breath?

Packers throw the ball 39 times and run it 16 times
Niners throw the ball 8 times and run it 42 times
