I certainly hope it’s not Taney. Do you think we draft someone to develop or are there any worth note out there we could pickup besides ElI? (I know that door is open, but I highly doubt he would want to do that)
I hope the Giants bring in a solid veteran backup for next season and perhaps the following year. I hope the Giants take a QB on day 3 of the 2021 draft to develop into Jones' backup.
I would like to see the Giants sign an UDFA after this years draft to compete for a spot on the practice squad. Since the Giants are likely to have multiple 7th round picks I wouldn't be opposed to them using one on a QB to stash on the practice squad next year or even keep 3 QB's again if they feel the new QB can be Jones' backup the following year.
He's going to be searching for a starting job and he will be too expensive anyway. I don't want to see the Giants spend 12+ million of cap room on a backup QB.
perhaps Keenum. If Fitz wasn't under contract I would add him in a heart beat. Giants may draft a late round developmental QB, as well, but I think #2 has to be an experienced Vet. Helps in the QB room and with DJs development.

Now that Shurmur is in Denver with Lock entrenched as the starting QB I think they will focus on Keenum as his backup. Keenum is 3rd on my wish list after Mariota and Fitzpatrick.
I am keeping an eye on the Miami situation. They are likely to take a QB with their first of three 1st round picks. If they do and plan on keeping Fitzpatrick then Rosen might become expendable. If he can be had for a late round pick then that would be another intriguing option.
'Mariota thing was just me nice to see the bandwagon...' Â
Unfortunately we never were able to see him play due to injury. I knew it was a long shot but I was hoping that he would win the 3rd QB spot/TE/Special teamer and eventually become a dependable backup to Jones.
Dungey will be playing in the XFL and is one of the more intriguing players in the league IMO.
There is a chance that the Dolphins will release him if they take a QB. If so I hope the Giants aggressively pursue him.
The other options I like are Marcus Mariota, Case Keenum, Chase Daniel, Matt Moore, and Blake Bortles.
Mariota is very intriguing at the right price. If he were willing to sign a 1 year $5-6 million dollar contract then he would make a lot of sense.
The fans, players and organization all love Fitz in Miami, as a backup to whoever they draft or as a starter if they try to go another year without a franchise QB to develop. Fitz's family is in Tampa, so short of him moving there, he will probably stay in Miami or retire.
If Shurmur had stayed, for his offense, Keenum would have been the obvious choice. Now, I think Mariota could be in play, but he may consider Chicago, Tampa or Carolina as better spots.
way it's Rosen. The Giants don't want any controversy, and Rosen probably wants to go somewhere that gives him at least a chance to compete for a starting job.
$5-$6 mill on Mariota? (ok, yeah DG has done it before) I do think his agent looks for a place with a QB on thin ice - how about Detroit to mess with the draft?
There are plenty of decent older backups at will sign for a lot less.
Be happy to listen to other good choices under $5m Â

I think Mariota tries to do what Ryan Tannehill did to him this season. I would think he winds up in Chicago or somewhere else with a QB on thin ice.

I would guess they'll address it in the draft.

I doubt they go with a rookie as Jones' primary backup next season. I think they will focus on a veteran for at least the 2020 season.

Cool, about 3 months for me...

Not worried just interested in discussing it.

LOL.. Well played.

He may not have a choice

Eli is gone folks...
He actually just moved his family from San Diego to Florida. so unless the Giants move to Florida, I think you can rule Rivers out.
