Can't wait!
I am pumped

Sad that "Avenue 5" by the Veep crew is getting middling reviews. Recording it anyway with hope that they're wrong.
Even though the show's humor has been forced
Mr. Bungle : 1/19/2020 2:56 pm : link
the last couple of seasons, I'm still hoping for a great episode or two this season.
I love Curb

It really proves that Seinfeld was 90% LD.
Love this show
BobsYourUncle : 1/19/2020 7:47 pm : link
LD gets into arguments with everyone he comes across... HILLARIOUS!
Curb...
bw in dc : 1/19/2020 7:48 pm : link
is on my Mt Rushmore of comedies.

Can't wait to see what LD has cooked up for one more season...
Love me some Curb too

Fired up its back. Been watching some classic YouTube clips from prior seasons, since this NFC championship game is a rout
HBO
pjcas18 : 1/19/2020 8:10 pm : link
had the top 25 episodes on all day yesterday.

It was awesome.
Been watching a lot of old episodes lately
John In CO : 1/19/2020 9:40 pm : link
and the most amazing thing to me is that this show has been on the air for 20 years and Larry David looks damn near exactly the same now as he did when it first aired:) Really looking forward to the new season.

Richard Lewis, on the other hand, looks like he chose...poorly in an Indiana Jones movie
Love this show..

but, 5 minutes in and every interaction is forced confrontation.

Felt it got a lot better as it went. Last twenty minutes were a riot.

Off to a great start.

Yep. Larry David has jumped the shark.

The MAGA bit was funny, I must admit.
Da fuck was that?
Anakim : 1/19/2020 11:11 pm : link
That was horrible. And so unCurb-like

Yup. The show is off the rails. I laughed a few times, but it’s just so forced now.

The reaction here is so different from everywhere else I’m reading. Sorry you gents didn’t enjoy it. Definitely felt the choppiness and forced nature of the beginning, but it’s hard to open a season.

I felt it was a fringe classic episode by the end and I didn’t enjoy season 9 for the most part.
First 10 mins were bad
GMEN46 : 1/19/2020 11:39 pm : link
But the rest was really good. The seeking the mini hot dogs ar a cocktail party is hilarious
I thought it leveled out after a rough start
j_rud : 1/19/2020 11:40 pm : link
The Weinstein bit was good, so was everything with his assistant.
Pretty lame episode.
Mr. Bungle : 1/19/2020 11:50 pm : link
But I was kind of expecting that.
Still great
oghwga : 1/19/2020 11:50 pm : link
Glad everyone is back. Breaking the selfie stick in half is a dream of mine

Yeah me too. Amusing at some parts.

The interactions with Jeff, Susie and Richard Lewis are still the best
Re: Richard Lewis
GruningsOnTheHill : 1/20/2020 3:17 am : link
if you ever want to meet him, go to Greenblatt's Deli at Sunset & Crescent Heights/Laurel Cyn. I lived a block from there for the better part of 15 years, and he was in there all the time.
Last seasons first episode wasn’t good
Joey from GlenCove : 1/20/2020 7:34 am : link
But I liked the whole season.

Hoping for the same here. Felt like to many forced interactions. . Maga hat bit was funny.

Seinfeld tail spins after season 7 (when LD leaves)
What a great start
Rflairr : 1/20/2020 7:55 am : link
MAGA hat=People Repellant. lol
Richard Lewis is the least funny person on that show.
Crispino : 1/20/2020 12:36 pm : link
In fact, for me, one of the least funny comedians of all time. Right up there with Mark Maron, who stole Richard’s schtick and made it even worse.
Just want to wish everyone here a Happy New Year.

I agree with the sentiment here for the most part
Mike in Long Beach : 1/20/2020 1:40 pm : link
It got off to a really bad start but picked up a lot of steam. The worst part was easily when he broke the selfie stick.

1) Larry is not supposed to be objectively mean like that. He often gets in compromising situations and acts selfishly/schemy... but he doesn't he's not just awful and cruel like that.

2) Also, selfie sticks are such an old phenomenon at this point. It's no longer a funny thing to attack millennials for. He's about a 1/2 decade late on that joke.

But then it got rolling after that. My favorite line was:

Ted (To Cheryl): "Ok honey, I'll call you when I get home."
Larry: "Eh, you don't have to call her. If the plane crashes we're all gonna know about it."
I really liked last night’s kickoff episode...
bw in dc : 1/20/2020 1:41 pm : link
Jeff being confused for Weinstein was brilliant. And it was great how Cheryl had the allergic reaction to LD’s talcum powder.

Leon continues to be a great character...

Agreed. And the best part of the MAGA hat bit was when the guy on the motorcycle saw Larry put it on and suddenly became nice to him

It actually wasn't brilliant at all. Why would Larry's receptionist not know Larry's manager?

+1

I have always thought this about Richard Lewis and his 1980s hair, and I could also do without the guy who lives at Larry’s house. Neither add anything at all to the show.
Leon is unfunny.
Mr. Bungle : 1/20/2020 7:25 pm : link
If there was a jump-the-shark moment for Curb, it's when the Leon character was introduced.

he is filler funny. They need new stuff. MAGA stuff was hollywood tacky propaganda. Nobody f'ing cares what the HBO hollywood set think, except the chinese that own their ass.
