and the most amazing thing to me is that this show has been on the air for 20 years and Larry David looks damn near exactly the same now as he did when it first aired:) Really looking forward to the new season.

Richard Lewis, on the other hand, looks like he chose...poorly in an Indiana Jones movie
The reaction here is so different from everywhere else I’m reading. Sorry you gents didn’t enjoy it. Definitely felt the choppiness and forced nature of the beginning, but it’s hard to open a season.
I felt it was a fringe classic episode by the end and I didn’t enjoy season 9 for the most part.
if you ever want to meet him, go to Greenblatt's Deli at Sunset & Crescent Heights/Laurel Cyn. I lived a block from there for the better part of 15 years, and he was in there all the time.
It got off to a really bad start but picked up a lot of steam. The worst part was easily when he broke the selfie stick.
1) Larry is not supposed to be objectively mean like that. He often gets in compromising situations and acts selfishly/schemy... but he doesn't he's not just awful and cruel like that.
2) Also, selfie sticks are such an old phenomenon at this point. It's no longer a funny thing to attack millennials for. He's about a 1/2 decade late on that joke.
But then it got rolling after that. My favorite line was:
Ted (To Cheryl): "Ok honey, I'll call you when I get home."
Larry: "Eh, you don't have to call her. If the plane crashes we're all gonna know about it."
In fact, for me, one of the least funny comedians of all time. Right up there with Mark Maron, who stole Richard’s schtick and made it even worse.
+1
I have always thought this about Richard Lewis and his 1980s hair, and I could also do without the guy who lives at Larry’s house. Neither add anything at all to the show.
If there was a jump-the-shark moment for Curb, it's when the Leon character was introduced.
he is filler funny. They need new stuff. MAGA stuff was hollywood tacky propaganda. Nobody f'ing cares what the HBO hollywood set think, except the chinese that own their ass.
Can't wait to see what LD has cooked up for one more season...
It was awesome.

Felt it got a lot better as it went. Last twenty minutes were a riot.
Off to a great start.
Yep. Larry David has jumped the shark.
The MAGA bit was funny, I must admit.
Yup. The show is off the rails. I laughed a few times, but it’s just so forced now.

Yeah me too. Amusing at some parts.
The interactions with Jeff, Susie and Richard Lewis are still the best
Hoping for the same here. Felt like to many forced interactions. . Maga hat bit was funny.
Seinfeld tail spins after season 7 (when LD leaves)

Agreed. And the best part of the MAGA hat bit was when the guy on the motorcycle saw Larry put it on and suddenly became nice to him
It actually wasn't brilliant at all. Why would Larry's receptionist not know Larry's manager?
