From #Giants killer to thriller? #Cowboys' Jason Witten interested in following Jason Garrett . He might make more sense as a coach than a player but there should be room for him either way
With no on-field coaching spot on Mike McCarthy's
@dallascowboys staff, sources say Jason Witten hasn't ruled out playing in '20, and not to rule out reunion w new
@Giants OC Jason Garrett. Of Witten's 16 games, his most productive game was vs. Giants.
A solid blocking TE with good size and speed who was underutilized in college due to scheme or poor QB play.
With so many needs on the roster I would be happy to add Witten as a 1 year stopgap. He obviously wouldn't be the #1 TE but he could serve as the #3 TE playing mostly on 3rd down and in the red zone. This would also allow Engram to line up as a WR more often.
RE: RE: TE coach who suits up when Engram gets hurt Â
Yes. Signed a 1 year contract for last year.
Also Eli waiting by the phone if Jones goes down for an extended period.
And why is that? If he is wearing Giants blue you can't root for him? Not like he was some scumbag such as Dawkins.

Wittens was always class. But I think he is cooked.
I can't imagine what the Cowboy fans will be going thru seeing Witten in Giants blue.
But it will be fun to watch.

As a coach? I'll live with that.
Well played...very well played!
As a player, he would only take away reps from Engram and Smith.
And I would prefer someone with more experience as a coach.

Eli's not under contract anymore.

I know that. I meant that Eli retires but could come back if Jones suffered an injury and is forced to miss a significant amount of time.

The Giants will have a backup QB this year who isn't Eli, though.
Born in Brooklyn, grew up on the Island, lived in Manhattan until I was 30, left for good.
Still fun to visit, but the old town has lots of problems that make it hard to recruit talent, in my field (not sports) or any other.
Exhibit 1: The New York Knickerbockers. Remember Clyde? Willis? Double D? They are terrible and show no signs of improvement.
Exhibit 2: The National League Metropolitan Baseball Club.
And, of course, the less said about the two NFL franchises, the better.
😂
A new offense is going to be installed. If Eli is not under contract, he is not on the team, he is not learning the play book or offense.
And get his recommendations of who we should really sign...
