That would be NICE!!!
Of course a trade down to pick up and extra 3rd or 2nd and getting one of those players would be wonderful.
Seems like an odd assessment given the play of Nate Solder this past year. Remmers I don't think is even under contract... Wasn't his deal for 1 year?
And Simmons is listed as an ILB, a position change for him to a fair extent given his snaps breakdown showing he played Nickle CB or safety more than half his total snaps...
Would be nice to see them trade back .
I should also note that it is our sense that this looks like a good, but not necessarily great draft. And it looks like it is shaping up reasonably well for the Giants. Indeed, assuming the most likely outcome that someone takes Tua at #3, the Giants will get a choice of Okudah, Simmons, Wirfs and Lamb who make up our 2nd level (along with Tua). Fact is one could make a strong case for each of those four guys for the Giants. Indeed, the only bad thing about the choice is that you can only pick one when truth be told you might really want all four. And unless the Giants really like one of the four more than the others who is ultimately chosen will depend to a large degree on what the Giants themselves set as their priorities this off-season. What is also kind of interesting about those four guys (and of course that grouping may change as we get closer to the draft; its also possible that different teams have other players in their second tier) is that they each answer different questions.
Who's the safest pick: probably Okudah followed by Wirfs
Who's got the most upside: Simmons
Who's the most transformative (and by that we mean who makes your team harder to play against or the answer to the question which pick would keep Jerry Jones up at night: Lamb followed by Simmons.
And while I know the defense and the OL are the two units that desperately need upgrades, there is this little voice in my head that keeps asking if its possible that in the end the Giants might decide that the guy who really changes their game is the WR. Last year for example, opposing teams were sending 8-9-10 guys into the box to stop Saquon and just daring the Giants to throw over the top because we just didn't have anyone on the outside who scared them.
Any way at this time I have no idea who the Giants would actually take from those four (or more) guys, but a really good case can be made for each. Hang in there! Only 94 days to go until the draft.

Thanks for all you add to BBI. I have been saying that it would be good for the Giants to trade back and get picks that would allow them to land two of the following players:
Tristan Wirfs OT 6-5, 322 Iowa JR
Jedrick Wills OT 6-5, 320 Alabama JR
Andrew Thomas OT 6-5, 320 Georgia JR
Austin Jackson OT 6-6, 310 Southern R
Mekhi Becton OT 6-7, 369 Louisville
Do you see this as reasonable?
It seems like there is a drop off after those five.
All of them are inconsistent - but Thomas' tools are elite. When he is on point, nobody is beating him. Technique issues can be fixed but the combination of power/size/speed cannot be taught or acquired.
A lot of it will come down to interviews and analysis of whether or not he works hard because yes, he has work to do.
He is my OT1 right now.
Yes I still have 3 more games to do. He is an elite athlete, maybe the best of all the OL in the class. Curious to see if some, even most, teams will see him as an OG.
I think there is a 1st/2nd round grade on him - have to loo in to off field issues.
Thomas
Willis
Wirfs

Hmmm, I see Sy is coming around to my very inexpert take on Thomas.
OK Sy, specifically is Thomas's initial strike just crazy good or what?

He is long and powerful, for sure. When the feet are under him and his center of mass is lined up, he can do damage. His issue is he gets too dependent on it, forgets about his feet, and will bend at the waist. A crafty NFL DE will eat that up.
But darn it's freaky how often he nullifies pass rushers at the LOS itself.

Have you checked out Saahdiq Charles?

Thanks. So my eyes haven’t deceived me when I’ve watched him. I see really good bend, lateral movement, and hand position. He’s really stood out in every LSU game I’ve watched.
While Burrow has received great reviews - and well earned - he’s had outstanding protection from the left side of that line. Particularly Charles.

If he checks out well off the field and the measurements are good enough - I have no issues labeling him a 1st round LT in the mold of David Bakhitiari

That's what I see as well, and in the SEC no less, which is extremely difficult to do.

When we had that guy (Beckham) it certainly didn't help our running game or time to throw all that much. We need to build from the inside out, no excuses.
Still, #4 overall is a really hard sell unless we get a top Edge FA and are able to upgrade the line in atleast 1 spot.

However, I'd hope we trade down and still get one of them and OL's with the extra pick(s).
