La Canfora: A Lot of Buzz Around Philip Rivers and the Bucs

Hearing a lot of buzz about Tampa as a possible landing spot for Philip Rivers. As reported back in late November, he and the Chargers were likely headed to a parting of the ways

Wouldnít really change a ton, understanding that the Chargers would be looking to draft a QB, but this would really accelerate the situation.

Iím concerned the Lions are going to be the team to deal down and not the Giants
Safe to say this wonít happen.

Has JLC ever been right? Heís the dollar tree version of nfl reporters.
Rivers
The Dude : 1/20/2020 2:04 pm : link
has trouble putting the ball outside the numbers. He's cooked.

The only people he was reaching at the end of the year was Eckler out of the backfield or his WR's running drags about 4 yards down field.

Eli has a better arm than Rivers....
If the Lions trade back thats fine

Doesnít mean that someone wouldnít want to come up for the last QB. If not that means 2 of the first 3 were QB and that means Giants have some options.

Have always liked Rivers and defended him.

But you are spot on. Heís hit the wall. And there is a very real physical deterioration. Tampa would be dumb to try Rivers as their QB solution.
Winston went apeshit with the interceptions this year
Motley Two : 1/20/2020 2:23 pm : link
and I don't know if they can calm him down or not...or even what the problem was, but I'd rather have him over Rivers at this point.
If its not a big $$$
Dankbeerman : 1/20/2020 2:25 pm : link
deal he would be a good guy to be the backup/alternative to Jameis. The guy needs to be held accountable a veteran like Rivers is the perfect guy to put heat on Winston.

Also sounds like since he is moving his family regardless this is basically his retirment plan. He may not need to be a locked in starter. Just give him a nice cozy back up job where he knows he will get a shot to play.

im fine with lions trading back.

its means we gauranteed one of

young
okudah
simmons
or a OT of our choice.

seems solid to me
Lions trading back
aGiantGuy : 1/20/2020 2:35 pm : link
Itís a win-win for us regardless of what they do
Still see Hebert in play at 4 to trade down
Payasdaddy : 1/20/2020 2:41 pm : link
qb needy teams will overdraft
Just like d Jones May have been a top 15 talent but we grabbed him at 6 cause we didnít want to chance it at 17 ( seems like for good reason too)
Can see us trading down a few spots. Maybe 6-9
Still getting a top 2 OT and maybe an xtra 2 and 4th
Would be much needed. We need around 5 core players from draft and hopefully 2-3 from FA. Might not fill the 8-10 needs we have in 2020 but sure hoping 5-6 of them

Not if you are in the Ďtrade downí camp and want the team to have as much leverage as possible. Iím on record of my opinion on trading down and how DG plays into that. No need to rehash.
all falling into place...
BillKo : 1/20/2020 3:17 pm : link
....Rivers to Bucs.

Brady to Bolts.

Eli to Evil Empire.
Doubt it
ZogZerg : 1/20/2020 3:27 pm : link
But why would anyone be concerned about Lions trading down?
That's a win for the Giants as one of the 3 stud players drop to Giants!

Again, not if your are holding out hope that we pick up some draft capital. If the Lions are willing to deal down, that hurts the Giants stance on value of the 4 slot

He had a bizarre season. He passed for an incredible 5,109 yards ... but 33/30 TD/Int ratio is just crazy. I guess you move on, but that's a *lot* of yards to move on from.

No way QBs go 1,3,4. I donít know if that has ever happened.

Although it would be unusual, it wouldnít be crazy. Again, with as many teams in the top 4 who donít need QBís, compared to how many teams 5-9, who do, I could see some movement for signal callers. Normally, the teams needing a QB arenít within such striking distance.

Iím hoping for
1 - Bengals Joe Burrow
2 - Redskins Isaiah Simmons
3 - Miami Tua (Insert last name)
4 - Giants Chase Young
QBs have gone 1-2-3
