Is switching to an AC offense the best move?

giants_10_88 : 1/21/2020 4:22 pm
I'm not sure I understand our switch to the AC offense. Doesn't that offense work best with a power running game with a really good run blocking line, tall WRs and TEs and a big armed QB? That's not how I would describe our players.

I wasreally hoping for something like the Chiefs offense. Base West Coast with RPO and spread/air raid principles thrown in. That fits our WRs, OL and QB better imo.

I've only recently started getting into learning the differences in schemes with regards to terminology, pass protection, route trees etc so I'm probably wrong.
From what the coaches have been saying
Rudy5757 : 1/21/2020 4:28 pm : link
the offense will be designed around the talent and opponent. Do what our players do best which would be a breath of fresh air instead of trying to fit our guys into a system.

What do you mean by AC? The Coryell offense? If so, is that related to the odd claim from that one blog article that said Garrett is the reincarnation of Air Coryell?
Why would such an offense

be implemented when you have SB. DC had no RB even close to the multi-talented SB
Coaches don't just walk into a job, playbook in hand,

and tell players what to do.

The job of a modern nfl coordinator is to evaluate what players you have and build around that. The Giants offense doesn't exist yet, because they haven't designed it yet.

Plenty of anxiety over every little thing that happens, doesn't happen, or worrying if it happens or if it doesn't. Can BBI fanbase chill over anything. Everything that is said, not said or assumed is dissected.

Doesn't every coach say this? Does anybody say I'm going to try to put this square peg in this round hole and hope for the best? I'm hopeful but taking a I'll believe it when I see it approach.

Except the Patriots love by this. So many other teams it’s, this is our coordinator and here is our system, let’s find guys to fit the system. In NE, the system changes to fit the players, not the other way around. Plenty of systems —west coast, 3-4 etc. that demand players with specific skill sets.

The offense you described you wanted was basically what Pat Shurmer was doing. Why would you not want a back like Barkley running more of a power game? The OL sucks anyway you slice it so the new parts will be more designed to fit that mold.

To say Garrett is strictly an Air Coryell offense is irresponsible as most good coordinators take elements of multiple offenses.

Last point, why would we not change the offense? What we did sure was not working.

SMH
What was that about my offense? I didn't hear you.
GiantEgo : 1/21/2020 5:34 pm : link
How would you describe the Pats offense? Certainly not Air Coryell.
Ivan15 : 1/21/2020 5:59 pm : link
Maybe WCO but really no character to it. Be multiple and take whatever you can get away with.
Key word is multiple...
morrison40 : 1/21/2020 6:06 pm : link
On offense and defense. What that exactly means we will have to wait and see. We waited for 2 yrs with Bettcher only to discover it meant multiple levels of confusion !
An Air Conditioning offense

will be cooler from training camp through October.

need to use their heads here.

Anyone who saw Air Coryell (could score 50 points in a game) is nothing like the Dallas Cowboys offense under Garrett which was more smash-mouth and was criticized in many seasons for being TOO ball control.

Route concepts is Garrett may bring. Judge will decide the offense
This is going to become one of those BBI things, isn’t it?
Mike from Ohio : 1/22/2020 7:56 am : link
A subset of posters are now going to call our offensive system “Air Coryell” regardless of what it actually looks like?

Dan Fouts....Daniel Jones? Somebody go get Kellen Winslow Jr out of jail and let’s get this party started!
