Honestly I am not happy with this. This seems to be a bridge hire until next season. I can't imagine them giving this guy 3 years or more. 2 at most. He didn't make final cut the last time. Now he jumps the queue?
Seems this is to bring him to when Cohen takes over, fires him and cleans house.
brother is the only big leaguer I've ever met who was a dick to me but I still like the hire lol
How many big leaguers do you know?
When i was 4 Rusty Staub shoved me to the ground in the Shea Stadium parking lot, my dad still talks about it 40 odd years later
Moises Alou (his brother) pretended not to speak any English to avoid signing an autograph, later heard him speaking English. I was a kid so it was pretty damn rude lol

Off topic but not as bad as my meanest athlete encounter which was Zo when he was still with Charlotte. Courtside, begging him for an autograph as a 5th grader while he practiced free throws he told me to "shhhh"

He admittedly used to piss on his own hands so you were probably better off without the autograph.

As a 14 yo I was at Yanks Spring training in Ft Lauderdale in '82. Me and maybe 2 or 3 other kids were the only ones left in the parking lot by where the players exited from the stadium to go to their cars. Yogi Berra clearly saw us, heard us asking for his autograph, looked at us, got into his car and drove right past us without a word. Sometimes its better not to meet these guys lol.
Earlier and he’s been working as part of the staff and players seem to love him.
A real shot that he’s a long-term hire and that’s quite a good result.
Although I supported the Beltran hire and, at first, hoped the Mets stood by him, I’ve come around to this being the right play. Stromatolites, and other pitchers were justifiably salty about the Astros and that could have been an early break in the harmony.
This has dragged on for so long that it’s hard to dial back in and remember that this is a really good team and one that could contend with a workable performance from Porcello firs time in the NL and better BP work. I’m glad there is a solution that isn’t too disruptive and the team may have ended up wandering into the right choice at the end of the day.
is sparring with Carlin on twitter (which is what Carlin wants). I like Stroman (and he's not wrong) but he has very, very thin skin. Hopefully it's a non-issue if he or the team struggles.

dude, either go with it or eff off. Sick of negativity
I’ve gotten to know Luis through Felipe, and you can just see his passion for the game, he’s got a great way about him,’’ Bochy told The Post Wednesday from San Diego. “He’s smart. He’s done a lot of things in baseball. He speaks well and I think he is going to be able to communicate with anybody, and that is a special Alou quality. He gets that from his dad.

Larry Johnson used to be overly friendly. In part to tweak Zo, but he also knew that because Zo was such an ass, he'd look great in comparison.
I was in a restaurant in Charlotte with LT. As I was about to go up and ask him for an autograph, a little kid approaches him and LT told the kid "Fuck off. I'm eating". I immediately sat back down. Two booths over was Ric Flair, and he pulled the kid over and gave him a signed picture. I always wondered if he carried those around with him!
Sort of funny but he could have done better IMO: Â

The Mets have reportedly dismissed newly hired manager Luis Rojas, as it has been revealed that he cheated on a geometry test in 10th grade. Absolutely devastating news to the team. Wow.

Lol. reading the first part i was thinking 'you gotta be fucking kidding me.' Then I read the rest...
than a speaker. I know it is a bit overwhelming to get a job this quickly in NYC but I am always leery of a guy that comes in and says "I will lead this team to success." "We will be really good at communication." "We will be good at accountability." That to me sounds like a politician that says vote for me and I guarantee things will be better.
Many of the younger players liked the hire so I'll go with their opinion but this is the majors and I can see why he initially did not make the final cut the first time around.
says the Pirates like Mauricio, I'd be ill. Notice how little interest there is league wide on Marte. At the right price? Sure. But Nimmo/Alvarez/Mauricio shouldn't even be discussed. Terrible.
SNY showing a game rerun instead of the press conference Â

For those saying/thinking this is another Mickey Calloway hire, HUGE difference.
Mickey managed precisely ZERO professional baseball games prior to taking over in Queens.
Luis Rojas has actually managed 1,030 professional baseball games with a record of 555-475 (.539).
Rojas managed complete games. Mickey was a pitching coach.
That is a GIGANTIC difference.

I have a feeling they want the advertising revenue of a rerun than a live event with no commercials. It is truly sad. I am watching on MLB App.
