NFT: 4 in 1 3d printers

smorgan741 : 1/22/2020 3:52 pm
Looking to add a 4 in 1 3d printer. I want to explore the possibility of adding laser engraving and or 3d printing and cnc routing to my existing printing and sign business.
The Ecubmaker is a interesting machine. It's entry level for under 600 dollars. Want to play around with design software to teach myself the possibility of adding engraving and such.
It's a Chinese machine which worries me some and prefer American made. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I thought about the same some time back

I already have a 3d printer, but with a smaller build platform (a cheaper one) and thought I might expand a bit. I didn't like the combo units, so I'm holding out for something better on the CNC/laser end, standalone unit.

The Chinese ones that were more affordable that I came across had some real warts and had a lot of DIY as far as assembly/build were concerned.
you should probably scan as many online

reviews as possible, maybe in some of the open forums (like Thingiverse or Ultimaker's forum). Maybe also GrabCAD.

Here's a negative review on eCubmaker: https://www.3dhubs.com/talk/t/dont-buy-ecubmaker-3d-printer/2314

I don't know y our budget, but if it were me and it was for a business I'd try to get an Ultimaker or Lulzbot. These are not 4 in 1 machines, just 3d printers.

If you want to move even further up in price the new Makerbot Method is based on Stratasys technology, which is best in class for FDM plastic printing (used by large aerospace and automotive customers, for example). The Method is about $6K

Stratasys

And for $30K you can get a Stratasys F370 industrial machine.

I've used lots of different printers and different 3d printing technologies, and with some machines you'll be spending more time solving problems than printing parts - lots of aggravation.

So it really depends a lot on your price point.
