So many unbelievable moments. The performance at SF in the NFC championship game is one of the greatest QB performances Ive ever seen.
It kills me the line we put in front of him and the teams we put around him these past several years. I know he had a good football left in him. But he never once complained and consistently took the blame himself.
My favorite Giant ever and unquestionably one of the best to ever wear a big blue uniform.
Heres to Eli, thanks for everything.
If anyone ever wants to know who Eli was as a person, teammate, player and leader... There's your game.
As showed above, two best plays in Bowl history too.
Simply the Best.
The best part was BB reaction would was also right there
Absolute Heroism by everyone on that Giants offensive unit in on that play. Heroism.
Best QB in Giants history. Not even a discussion (No offense Phil). Wishing Eli all the best in retirement. Mission Accomplished. A career well earned and a retirement well deserved. God Bless you and yours.
Easily my favorite play ever.
If anyone ever wants to know who Eli was as a person, teammate, player and leader... There's your game.
+ 1
That game defined his career.
Thank you!
First thing I think of when I think of Eli - this game - ( New Window )
Next to LT, my favorite Giants player in 45 years of watching. Despite stats, he deserves the HOF.
Cheers!
Loved this from Saquon. Theres only one Eli. Unless Charlie Manning comes to town one day
I second that. My favorite Giant ever. 2X Super Bowl MVP, class act, iron man, & a HOFer for sure.
Congrats on your hall of fame career!
Enjoy your retirement and you deserve it!
You are the best!
Was a fan on February 3, 2008.
It has been a pleasure to watch you the past 16 seasons, you gave me memories, which will never be forgotten. You never made it about you, and conducted yourself with the utmost class of any athlete I have ever seen. I'm proud to say my 13 year old son is your namesake.
Much love to Eli, thank you for all that you have done on and off the field, and most importantly - enjoy retirement!!!! 🐐 #10!!
The man should never have to buy a drink again in NYC
I love so much about Eli, but particularly appreciate his sense of humor and how well he handled the intense NY spotlight.
I wish Eli so much happiness in whatever comes next for him.
My favorite random game of his was the game against Tampa when he threw 3 pics in the first half then lit it up in the 2nd throwing for 510 yards and putting up 25 pts in the 4th.
He was the MVP of the league in 2011. Seemed every game we won we did so with a big drive at the end. Took a team with a bottom of the leagir rushing game and total deffense and won the superbowl.
Two game winning last minute td drives in the superbowl and two MVP's. Both performances in the championship games on the road were legendary.
As a person he is humble and hilarious. Im sure he is an all time husband and father and probably a hunch of fun to hang out with and drink a few beers.
Wish him all the best and hope he stays relevant around the team for strictly selfish reasons. Hope the random Eli bashing is finally done.
Going to start planning for a trip to Canton im 5 years wouldnt miss it for world.
From gloveone to this. Thank you Eric for letting us have a place to share the moments Eli provided with other diehards. Just insane to think were now post-Eli. So many memorable times. This retirement really hits hard thinking about all the time that has passed. Maybe more than any other player retirement Ive seen.
On to the next era. Lets fucking make it just as memorable as the Eli era.
Mr. Jones has big shoes to fill.
[quote] Will forever be my favorite Eli Manning game/moment.
If anyone ever wants to know who Eli was as a person, teammate, player and leader... There's your game. [/quot
Amen.
Besides the tremendous football moments, too many to list, I couldnt have asked for a better person to represent for 16 years my beloved NY Football Giants.
If you read this Eli, I love you man. I appreciate all the great memories you provided and you're at the top of the list of people Id like to have a beer with!
Eighteen and NO, sucka!
If anyone ever wants to know who Eli was as a person, teammate, player and leader... There's your game.
+2 or +3, whatever...
I've gone over it dozens of times in my head, but I can't even imagine another QB hanging tough throughout that game like Eli did.
There have been better QBs than Eli in our lifetimes: but none and I mean ZERO tougher than Eli.
Cool as the other side of the pillow, and as strong and resilient as a diamond.
He's a surefire HOFer, and he should be a 1st ballot HOFer with his credentials. He was flat out better than almost any QB to ever play the game in clutch moments. You play to win titles. He won two of them, including one against a team that would easily be voted as the best ever if they had won that game.
Haters gonna hate. And, unfortunately, he will be judged partially by the regular season numbers that his brother put up. But guess what? In a big game, I'd easily take Eli over Peyton any day, any time. Not even close.
Eli was a beast at the QB position. And if HOF voters can't see that, shame on them. In any event, now that he is officially retiring, you can see the love pouring out for the guy. People understand just how good he was and that a legend is leaving the game.
The game may have changed, but he retires top 10 in yards and TDs. He is one of only five players to ever get win two SB MVPs. And that plays in any era.
Eli has no idea
how he effected my life, and not with his play, with how he carried himself in adversity. I learned a lot about the benefits of being a class act and its helped me in my career.
If anyone ever wants to know who Eli was as a person, teammate, player and leader... There's your game.
Yep, I'd have to agree. As great as the Tyree play and the throw to Manningham in the SBs were, this game to me defined his greatness. Eli was a football player, not a machine.
Eli will always be SuperMan!
Young Mr. Jones has some BIG shoes to fill.
Eli delivered many other such moments, there was no debate over the 2 Super Bowl MVP's and any close observer knows Eli Manning was capable of so much more - really, the 2008 team was the only GREAT supporting cast he was ever given, yet he was able to deliver so many electrifying moments, plays, wins, come-from-behind victories.
Eli Manning was the comeback kid, an absolutely DEVASTATING 4th quarter performer and 2-minute drill assassin. For most of Eli's career, Giant fans could never turn off the TV when the Giants were losing, because Eli proved early on, there was ALWAYS a chance he'd deliver.
I said all along to his critics that one day he would be heralded as a Giant God and that day has come and I can only feel sorry for every Giant QB that follows and now has to live to Manning's ELITE standard.
Thank you, Eli.
