Simmons is an extremely versatile, athletic defensive chess piece. He is a long, rangy athlete who lined up at linebacker, over the slot and in the deep middle for Clemson, thanks to his diverse and unique skill set. Against the pass, he has terrific range and instincts from the deep middle. He has the speed and agility to match up with top-flight tight ends and backs underneath. He is an explosive blitzer off the edge and in through the middle. Simmons overpowers running backs in protection. Against the run, he takes good angles and his speed allows him to make plays from the back side. He will struggle at times if he has to take on blocks on the edge. Overall, Simmons is built for today's NFL and his role could change week to week, depending on the opponent.
YANKEE28. Everybody has a different opinion on how they judge and view the talent level of players in the draft. With that said, Jeremiah dropped three very highly touted players, Andrew Thomas, Delpit and Espenesa way down his proposed prospect board. Any team that can nab one of those three players that late in the first round will be very fortunate indeed.

Jets gave up 3 second rounders to move from 6 to 3 two years ago. Seems unlikely to think we would get a mid first rd for moving back 1 spot unless MIA was very desparate . Possible yes but I think a 2nd rounder is more likely. I would be thrilled with an extra 2nd and the 5th pick personally.
none of the draftniks have him going top 5, and some have him falling outside of the top 10.
I personally think he looked great vs LSU.
That said, I actually watched some of Jedrick Wills and he was impressive. Moves very effortlessly and always seems to keep himself between the qb/ball carrier and the defender. Whether he's in pass-pro or creating a running lane.
Becton is also a monster, haven't watched him as much but you can see he has the tools to be the best OT in the class. 6'7, 360lb with good feet. And he's only 20 years old!
about versatility then I’m thinking Simmons will be the pick unless he disappoints for some reason in workouts. Ruiz in the second would be nice too. They have to do something at center. Imagine drafting Ruiz and signing Conklin. They would have something brewing with that OL.
with a good player at center. Anchor the line, make the calls, drive forward or hold the pocket. Don't care if he's 22 or 32 -- I just want somebody directly in front of DJ who Does His Job.

way. Having a safety who can play deep or in the box is versatile. Having an edge rusher who can rush or drop back in pass coverage is versatile. Having a LB whose position varies by his coach’s indecision, who may play better in the traditional role is not versatile.
Man I wish Gettlemen drafted Jawaan Taylor, Cody Ford, Greg Little... Â
Jesus, good catch there. That is a miss by Jeremiah.
And the LT for LSU, Saaddiq Charles, is very underrated. He's better than Austin Jackson.
And Jordan Love ahead of Herbert? I loved Love - pun intended - coming into '19 but he has a HORRIBLE season. Herbert, on the other hand, bounced back from a horrible 2018. I just can't justify that one either...
Need to get a LT in draft. A LB that can keep the center of the field clean would build on our D line strength.
There is a C in FA but Conklin at RT is a waste of money.
Hell of lot of WR in this Jeremiah ranking so if Gettleman can be convinced to trade down to get three top picks in the top 50, get a true #1 receiver. The order will depend on how things break.

I think that Isaiah Wilson, the RT from Georgia, is a 2nd rounder Â
who might actually rise. Another huge guy, dominant in the running game, and has good feet. Still inexperienced as a RSSoph but I think he’s going to be very good in a year.
The fact some of you think DG is capable of crushing this draft is laughable.
We don't need Brown if we sign L. Williams but if we drafted him at #1 I for one would not be disappointed. This guy is going to be a probowl player, for sure, and an excellent addition to the defense. My only issue is he purely a 4-3 DT or can he play in the 3-4. I guess it depends how he is used in a 3-4 DL?
This is against the very core of my football sense of being... Â
...and against everything I believe the Giants must do in this Draft to pull themselves out of their own shit hole, but I am getting more and more tempted to draft wide receiver CeeDee Lamb out of Oklahoma at #4.
He's the best defender in the draft and a true dominant one. He would be our best defensive player since the Superbowl days.
We shouldn't delude ourselves, this is a rebuild so just because we have a few decent players like Hill, Tomlinson and Williams doesn't mean we should ignore the best player available.
Pair him with Lawrence and the Giants will have the best interior defensive line in the league.
My mock would look like this with Jeremiahs rankings
Becton LT
Jefferson WR
Ruiz C
Murray LB
Quite the haul
I like your thought process, but I thought there were only 2 teams that had extra 1st round picks plus a 2nd round pick to possibly trade - Miami and Jacksonville.
I don't know that Miami would give a 1st and a 2nd to move up one spot. So basically it's Jacksonville. More likely though is the Raiders giving up a 1st and a 3rd (they don't have a 2nd). Either way, trade down makes a ton of sense in this draft.
Still would love Chase Young, but he will not fall to the Giants.
Drafting a stud OT and center to set the offense seems very doable and stud FS/LB and corner....to set the defense and also doable.
Not sure if that Edge/DE can be found....which becomes a must in FA.
Simmons seems like the definition of flexible for a team that wants to be flexible.

I would love two firsts and two seconds, but is that a real possibility?
