WR in the draft.

TC : 1/24/2020 1:05 pm
Sy alluded to this being a good draft for WR's, and I think so too. It's shame the Giants have so many more pressing needs, and DG seems enamored with the group he picked in FA. I don't know that I disagree with either the Giants having more pressing needs, or existing serviceable WR's, but the more I look at WR's, the more I fall in love with Laviska Shenault's of Colorado's game.

After watching what Deebo Samuel did, it just demonstrates what a weapon a WR like this can be. Need a tough larger WR to go over the middle? You got it! Want a WR who can box out, and out wrestle a CB in the end zone? You got it! Want one who can run a sweep like a power RB, etc. You know the rest.

Too bad he'll likely be gone in the first, he would be a fantastic pick up, IMO.

Resembles a RB out there

I prefer we come away with some size in this Draft. Guys like Michael Pittman Jr., TJ Vasher, Collin Johnson, etc. but Shenualt is a stud for sure.
we haven't had a consistant dependable tall WR

since Plaxico. I'm looking forward to one of these seasons getting a WR who's 6'3", 6'4" or more
I think Sy didn't say it was just good...it was historically good.
Klaatu : 1/24/2020 1:13 pm : link
Still, I wouldn't draft one until Day 3 unless we could do a trade-down for at least one additional pick in the first three rounds. I'd love to get DJ another target - a big, fast, sure-handed target. But it won't do him any good if we don't fix our O-Line first. It won't do him any good if he's sitting on the bench next to his new target, while our defense can't get off the field.
Yeah, Laviska is only listed . . . .

at 6'2", and I agree a taller guy would be nice. But I think many don't appreciate how physical Plaxico's game was. I don't know that I'd ever seen a better blocking WR, and that's another facet where I would expect Shenault to shine.

If the Giants are serious about becoming a team that can run the ball consistently, WR's who can block as well as catch are essential.
Shenault is the guy I want

and honestly think about what Judge has said in terms of attacking with multiples- varied ways to get after someone and being adaptable.

Shenault would be a steal for us (though not at #4).

It was really a shame. I was pretty much routing for Ramses Barden to do well. He just wasn’t that good.
I want to clarify something.
Klaatu : 1/24/2020 1:47 pm : link
I understand that the 2020 draft isn't just about 2020. I understand that it's usually wise to draft into the strength of the draft, which this year looks to be WR.

However, I do not want to see another year of Daniel Jones under constant duress, taking the kind of punishment he took in 2019. If we're talking about building for the future, than protecting Jones should be of paramount importance. You make a major investment in a QB, you should also make a major investment in protecting that QB.

As I said, I'd love to get DJ a new target. I'd love that target to be Burress 2.0 (without the unhappy ending). I'd also love to see the Giants get a more complete 2-way TE (and Sy said there might be a few worth drafting this year). But I still think the Giants would be better served by waiting until day three to draft one.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

and they gave up too soon on tall receivers Joe Jurevicius, Ed McAffrey and Kevin Walter

what round is he projected to go ?
DE, OT, LB

A WR is a luxury while we are so thin at DE, OT and LB.

Most of those I've seen show him going later in the 1st.

I would say Laviska goes somewhere in that 20-40 range

Michael Pittman Jr from USC. If you don't know... now you know.
I think the whole height thing is a bit overrated.

Are you kidding? He's been getting a ton of press, lately, especially since he said he'd love to be reunited with Sam Darnold.
If we trade back...

to 7ish and get another 1st round pick. I'd love to see DG draft Cee Dee Lamb (best WR in the draft), best a available LT, then DE.
Tyler Johnson WR Minnesota

And Collin Johnson WR Texas are two sleepers

Best receiver in draft could be Justin Jefferson LSU

The other Texas receiver, Duvernay, Beverly outplayed Colin Johnson at Texas. I'd draft Duvernay before Johnson.
Claypool (Notre Dame) is another big receiver who could be available

on day 3. He's got some speed and good hands, but needs to learn to run better routes.
This is the deepest WR draft I have ever seen
Jim in Forest Hills : 1/25/2020 11:36 am : link
which is perfect for the Giants.

They dont need to spend a day 1 or day 2 pick. Plenty of talent will be there on day 3. Trade down and get more picks and pick up two guys.

There are guys with size too, outside guys.

Love Tyler Johnson in rd 4 and Nico Collins in rd 6. Or Cephus in rd 5.

If DG does what he does, he will have talent there.

I am interested in seeing Johnson in the Senior Bowl. Profootballnetwork.com (thanks YANKEE28) were raving about his practices all week. Very good read, they didn't pull many punches.

This class may be even deeper than last seasons which was really strong. We can get another quality starter in the 6th Round this year. I'm partial to Trishton Jackson out of Syracuse.

Wr Antonio Gandy Golden receiver for North
Pheonix Orion : 1/25/2020 2:10 pm : link
James Jones NFL Network analyst loves this kid for the North . 6'4 220 and breaks ankles. Wins at top of route and ball skills excellent.

Except for that last line...

The point
Jay in Toronto : 1/25/2020 2:59 pm : link
Is that we should get a good talent in a lower round and focus on greater needs early.
Historically good WR class means we can take one on day 2 or 3 and
PatersonPlank : 1/25/2020 3:15 pm : link
still get a starter or top WR. Rds 1-3 should be 1 D and 2 OL players
